Dataset for "Sorption, anomalous water transport and dynamic porosity in cement paste: A spatially localised 1H NMR relaxation study and a proposed mechanism"

This record is the dataset for Figures 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 in the journal article "Sorption, anomalous water transport and dynamic porosity in cement paste: A spatially localised 1H NMR relaxation study and a proposed mechanism" published in Cement and Concrete Research, Volume 133, July 2020, 106045, https://doi.org/10.1016/j.cemconres.2020.106045.

Abstract: The link between anomalous water sorption and dynamic porosity in cement pastes is explored using spatially resolved GARField1H nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) relaxation analysis. A model is developed in which the effective capillary diffusion coefficient is dependent on the instantaneous pore size distribution. This and earlier data show changes in pore size distribution resultant from changes in saturation that do not occur instantaneously with changes in degree of saturation. Therefore, it is assumed that the pore size distribution is always relaxing exponentially towards a (saturation dependent) equilibrium. It follows that the diffusivity is sample history (i.e. time) dependent as well as saturation dependent. This is sufficient to explain anomalies in rapid capillary water sorption. The same concepts are applied to slow drying. In this case, porosity changes occur on a timescale much shorter than drying so the system is always in dynamic equilibrium and anomalies are therefore not seen.

Dataset related to article "Control of Cytoskeletal Dynamics by β-Arrestin1/Myosin Vb Signaling Regulates Endosomal Sorting and Scavenging Activity of the Atypical Chemokine Receptor ACKR2"

This record contains raw data related to article "Control of Cytoskeletal Dynamics by β-Arrestin1/Myosin Vb Signaling Regulates Endosomal Sorting and Scavenging Activity of the Atypical Chemokine Receptor ACKR2"

The atypical chemokine receptor ACKR2, formerly named D6, is a scavenger chemokine receptor with a non-redundant role in the control of inflammation and immunity. The scavenging activity of ACKR2 depends on its trafficking properties, which require actin cytoskeleton rearrangements downstream of a β-arrestin1-Rac1-PAK1-LIMK1-cofilin-dependent signaling pathway. We here demonstrate that in basal conditions, ACKR2 trafficking properties require intact actin and microtubules networks. The dynamic turnover of actin filaments is required to sustain ACKR2 constitutive endocytosis, while both actin and microtubule networks are involved in processes regulating ACKR2 constitutive sorting to rapid, Rab4-dependent and slow, Rab11-dependent recycling pathways, respectively. After chemokine engagement, ACKR2 requires myosin Vb activity to promote its trafficking from Rab11-positive recycling endosomes to the plasma membrane, which sustains its scavenging activity. Other than cofilin phosphorylation, induction of the β-arrestin1-dependent signaling pathway by ACKR2 agonists also leads to the rearrangement of microtubules, which is required to support the myosin Vb-dependent ACKR2 upregulation and its scavenging properties. Disruption of the actin-based cytoskeleton by the apoptosis-inducing agent staurosporine results in impaired ACKR2 internalization and chemokine degradation that is consistent with the emerging scavenging-independent activity of the receptor in apoptotic neutrophils instrumental for promoting efficient efferocytosis during the resolution of inflammation. In conclusion, we provide evidence that ACKR2 activates a β-arrestin1-dependent signaling pathway, triggering both the actin and the microtubule cytoskeletal networks, which control its trafficking and scavenger properties.

DynaBench: A benchmark dataset for learning dynamical systems from low-resolution data (minimal)

This is a minimal version of the DynaBench dataset, containing the first 5% of the data. The full dataset is available at https://professor-x.de/dynabench

Abstract:

Previous work on learning physical systems from data has focused on high-resolution grid-structured measurements. However, real-world knowledge of such systems (e.g. weather data) relies on sparsely scattered measuring stations. In this paper, we introduce a novel simulated benchmark dataset, DynaBench, for learning dynamical systems directly from sparsely scattered data without prior knowledge of the equations. The dataset focuses on predicting the evolution of a dynamical system from low-resolution, unstructured measurements. We simulate six different partial differential equations covering a variety of physical systems commonly used in the literature and evaluate several machine learning models, including traditional graph neural networks and point cloud processing models, with the task of predicting the evolution of the system. The proposed benchmark dataset is expected to advance the state of art as an out-of-the-box easy-to-use tool for evaluating models in a setting where only unstructured low-resolution observations are available. The benchmark is available at https://professor-x.de/dynabench.

Technical Info

The dataset is split into 42 parts (6 equations x 7 combinations of resolution/structure). Each part can be downloaded separately and contains 7000 simulations of the given equation at the given resolution and structure. The simulations are grouped into chunks of 500 simulations saved in the hdf5 file format. Each chunk contains the variable "data", where the values of the simulated system are stored, as well as the variable "points", where the coordinates at which the system has been observed are stored. For more details visit the DynaBench website at https://professor-x.de/dynabench/. The dataset is best used as part of the dynabench python package available at https://pypi.org/project/dynabench/.
