March 10, 1945, at the end of the Asia Pacific War, there was an indiscriminate bombing raid called Great Tokyo Air Raid,by the U.S. military. It lasted for over two hours and destroyed an area of downtown Tokyo, killing about 100,000 people. On the other hand, Japan also bombed China and other countries after the Manchurian Incident. Many people were burned, damaged, and lost their lives in air raids. Most of them were civilians, including women, children and the elderly. Stylized War Mace
A mace is a blunt weapon, a type of club or virge that uses a heavy head on the end of a handle to deliver powerful strikes. A mace typically consists of a strong, heavy, wooden or metal shaft, often reinforced with metal, featuring a head made of stone, bone, copper, bronze, iron, or steel. The head of a military mace can be shaped with flanges or knobs to allow greater penetration of plate armour. The length of maces can vary considerably. The maces of foot soldiers were usually quite short (two or three feet, or sixty to ninety centimetres). The maces of cavalrymen were longer and thus better suited for blows delivered from horseback. Spanish Civil War Bullet Impacts
1927 marked the beginning of the planification which resulted in what is known as "Ciudad Universitaria". As a result of the royal initiative from the king Alfonso XIII the new universitarian campus in Moncloa (Madrid) was borned. The first faculty to be constructed was Medicine and then Farmacy and Odontology. Nine years later the Spanish Civil War broke up, the protectorate army was advancing unstoppable towards Madrid, but the republicans under General Miaja and Vicente Rojo reorganised themselfs and face the rebel army, Madrid must not fall. After a fierce battle en Casa de Campo, the 15th of november 1936 the francoist army crossed the Manzanares river and tryed to enter in the city, between them and their objetive was Ciudad Universitaria and its unfinnished faculties. The republicans, a conglomerated of militias, anarchists, communists, dynamiters, loyal army officers and international brigadists, amongst others, kept their grounds. Madrid would not fall. Spanish Civil War Concentration Camp Barrack 8
During the month of April 2022, a team of archaeologists led by Luis A. Ruiz Casero y Alfredo González-Ruibal from the Incipit-CSIC and financed by the Secretariat of Democratic Memory carried out an archaeological survey and excavation on a Francoist concentration camp in Jadraque (Guadalajara, Spain). 31 structures of different forms were documented, among them, the prisoners barracks stood out. The camp was active from July 1938, receiving on March 28, 1939 more than 4,000 soldiers from the Republican Army. For erase no doubt that the place was a concentration camp, the Francoists refered to this place as "Jadraque prisoner concentration camp" in the Official State Gazette of April 8, 1939. The 3D model that I've left here is a prisoners' barracks. A total of 25 were documented, all of them with a similar morphology and inhabited by prisoners of war deployed in fortification work. World War 1 shell - Leeds YAC
This is an unexploded (and defused) shell head I purchased for about 15 Euros in northern France, somewhere near the Belgian border, possibly the Somme or Ireland Wood. This mesh was created for the September session of the Leeds Young Archaeologists club to show how easy it can be to make a 3D model at home! This is the mesh of the model itself. I like how the smoothness of the shell, considering that there are only a few imperfections for Meshroom to pick up on, it seems to be one of the easiest photogrammety software models I have used. The model was created with photos from a Sony Experia 10, and the images meshed in Meshroom. I own the model and the object but feel free to use the mesh. Source: Objaverse 1.0 / Sketchfab

World War II Heavy Anti-aircraft (HAA) gunsite near Bolton-upon-Dearne (South Yorkshire, UK), known as Station H17. The site was probably connected with the defence of Sheffield, which lies approximately 16km to the south west. The monument survives as a series of standing, buried and earthwork remains. Spanish Civil War Mountain Position
During 2020 summer we excavated a very heavily fortified francoist position in the mountains of northern Madrid https://skfb.ly/6VUIG. Thanks to the interest of the Comunity of Madrid council of Culture and the Santa Maria de la Alameda hall, we are studying a new set of fortifications, this time in the republican side of the line. The position, named "El Zorrerón", represent the most typical defense complex for both sides (republican and nationalist) in the mountains. Poorbuild, scattered emplacements ofently squattering the previous animal enclosures and shepher's huts. The conditions for the soldiers were very poor, specially in winter, with little cover and wood. These characteristics made the incursions easy, like the one that happened in january 1939; when the republican guerrilla units of the 300 division advanced more than 6km into enemy territory occupied the village of Navas del Marques and then withdrew to their lines. Ciudad Rodrigo Peninsular War Battlefield LiDAR
A low relief visualization of the Spanish LiDAR for Ciudad Rodrigo which shows the bastion defences of the town and the 1812 allied siege earthworks on the Great Teson hill to the north. Having been besieged and taken by the French under Marshall Ney in 1810 Wellington's Anglo-Portugese army besieged and recaptured the town between 7-20th January 1812. A camp and siege engineers park was erected to the north of the Great Teson Hill and Redoubt Renaud was attacked via an approach trench and captured on 8th January. Two parallel trenches with gun batteries were then built on the southern slopes of Great Teson and the northernmost bastion of the town defences was breached with heavy cannon fire along with a further breach on the north east side. The breaches were stormed and the town taken on 20th January.
