Figure 4. Model of the two-species distribution of Triturus cristatus and Triturus marmoratus for climatic conditions as foreseen for 50 years from now under the CMCC-ESM2_ SSP126 scenario. Results were simplified to a binary representation, with red for T. cristatus (probability of occurrence, Pc> 0.5) and blue for T. marmoratus (Pc <0.5). Grey areas predict the presence of one species or the other, depending on zero or full forestation (for details, see main text). The white line approximates the mutual species border as modelled for the present day (Fig. 2A). Note that the contact zone would have to move at a pace of> 10 km/ year to keep up with the projected change. Three other scenarios yielded even larger contact zone displacements (Supporting Information, Fig. S2).

Structural uncertainty in species distribution models (SDMs)
<p>This repository contains all scripts of data downloading, data processing, model building, and model prediction for the species distribution modeling experiment lead by Anna Thonis, Uzma Ashraf, C. Nikki Cavalieri, Toni Lyn Morelli, and Adam B. Smith. More details about this worldwide experiment can be found at https://earthskysea.org/join-us-in-a-study-of-sdm-methodology/.</p> <p>To note, the range map for <em>Prionailurus bengalensis</em> can be downloaded directly from IUCN Red List of Threatened Species (https://www.iucnredlist.org/resources/spatial-data-download). The range map for <em>Zamia prasina</em> can be obtained by request. All the present and future climate raster layers are downloaded from CHELSA v2.1 (https://chelsa-climate.org/downloads/). Other processed environmental layers can be obtained by request since the size of these data is over 220 GB.</p>
