Science ready spectra of star clusters and their best-fitting models described in the research paper "Using Star Clusters as Tracers of Star Formation and Chemical Evolution: the Chemical Enrichment History of the Large Magellanic Cloud" by Chilingarian & Asa'd
<p>Science ready spectra of star clusters in the Large Magellanic Cloud and their best-fitting templates (alpha-enhanced MILES based simple stellar population models) obtained using the NBursts full spectrum fitting code. Each spectrum is presented as a binary FITS table, which contains a spectrum (wavelength, flux, uncertainties), best-fitting template, best-fitting parameters (radial velocity, age, metallicity), and a pixel mask used in the fitting procedure. For each cluster, 5 spectra are provided, which correspond to [alpha/Fe] values from 0.0 to 0.4 dex with a step of 0.1 dex. The only exception is NGC2249, for which only 3 models are provided. The alpha-enhancement value of a model grid used in the fitting procedure is given in the FITS keyword MGFEGRID.</p>

Comparison of X-ray crystal structures of a tetradecamer sequence d(CCCGGGTACCCGGG)2 at 1.7 Å resolution.
<p>We presented a comparison of three different X-ray crystal structures of DNA tetradecamer sequence d(CCCGGGTACCCGGG)2 all at about 1.7 Å resolution. The sequence was designed as an attempt to form a DNA four-way junction with A-type helical arms. However, in the presence of zinc, magnesium, and in the absence of any metal ion, it does not take up the junction structure, but forms an A-type double helix. This allowed us to study possible conformational changes in the double helix due to the presence of metal ions. Upon addition of the zinc ion, there is a change in the space group from P41212 to P41. The overall conformation of the duplex remains the same. There are small changes in the interaction of the metal ions with the DNA. In the zinc-bound structure, there are two zinc ions that show direct interaction with the N7 atoms of terminal G13 bases at either end of the molecule. There are small changes in the interhelical contacts. The consequence of these differences is to break some of the symmetry and change the space group.</p>
Crystal structure of d(CCGGGGTACCCCGG)2 at 1.4 Å resolution.
<p>The X-ray crystal structure of the DNA tetradecamer sequence d(CCGGGGTACCCCGG)2 is reported at 1.4 Å resolution in the tetragonal space group P41212. The sequence was designed to fold as a four-way junction. However, it forms an A-type double helix in the presence of barium chloride. The metal ion could not be identified in the electron-density map. The crystallographic asymmetric unit consists of one A-type double helix with 12 base pairs per turn, in contrast to 11 base pairs per turn for canonical A-DNA. A large number of solvent molecules have been identified in both the grooves of the duplex and around the backbone phosphate groups.</p>

Crystals did not have any metal ion in the crystallization solution apart from the sodium in the buffer. However, the sequence does not take up the junction structure, but forms an A-type double helix in P41212 space group.</p>

Site-Specific MCER Response Spectra for Los Angeles Region based on 3-D Numerical Simulations and the NGA West2 Equations
<p><strong>ABSTRACT</strong></p> <p>The Utilization of Ground Motion Simulation (UGMS) committee of the Southern California Earthquake Center (SCEC) developed site-specific, risk-targeted Maximum Considered Earthquake (MCER) response spectra for the Los Angeles region. The long period (T ≥ 2-sec) MCER response spectra were computed as the weighted average of MCER spectral accelerations derived from (1) 3-D numerical ground-motion simulations using the CyberShake computational platform, and (2) empirical ground-motion prediction equations (GMPEs) from the Pacific Earthquake Engineering Research (PEER) Center NGAWest2 project. The short period (T < 2- sec) MCER response spectra were computed exclusively from the NGAWest2 GMPEs. A web-based lookup tool was also developed so users can obtain the MCER response spectrum for a specified latitude and longitude and for a specified site class or 30-m average shear-wave velocity, VS30. The tool provides acceleration ordinates of the MCER response spectrum at 21 natural periods in the 0 to 10-sec band.</p> <p>This dataset includes a Java application to run queries. It serves as the backend data source for the web-based tool that can be found at: <a href="https://data2.scec.org/ugms-mcerGM-tool_v18.4/">https://data2.scec.org/ugms-mcerGM-tool_v18.4/</a>.</p> <p>For more information, please see <a href="https://www.scec.org/research/ugms">https://www.scec.org/research/ugms</a>.</p> <p><strong>DISCLAIMER</strong></p> <p>The UGMS MCER Tool is provided "as is" and without warranties of any kind. While SCEC and the UGMS Committee have made every effort to provide data from reliable sources or methodologies, SCEC and the UGMS Committee do not make any representations or warranties as to the accuracy, completeness, reliability, currency, or quality of any data provided herein. SCEC and the UGMS Committee do not intend the results provided by this tool to replace the sound judgment of a competent professional, who has knowledge and experience in the appropriate field(s) of practice. By using this tool, you accept to release SCEC and the UGMS Committee of any and all liability.</p> <p>Please note: The site-specific, design response spectral acceleration, Sa, returned by this tool for user-specified inputs, must be compared to the minimum Sa requirement described in Section 21.3 of ASCE 7-16 (second and third paragraphs). This minimum Sa is computed as 80% of the design response spectrum derived from the SDS, SD1, and TL values obtained from the ASCE tool at https://asce7hazardtool.online/. The larger of the site-specific Sa and the 80% minimum Sa at each period, T, is the final design response spectral acceleration. This final Sa x 1.5 is the final MCER response spectral acceleration.</p>

Dataset for flavour tagging R&D
<p>This is a dataset for flavour tagging R&D.</p> <p>It consists of b-jets, c-jets and light-jets in equal number and equal distributions of transverse momentum, pseudo-rapidity and track multiplicity. </p> <p>The jets are sampled from ttbar events produced from proton-proton collisions at 14 TeV, using Pythia8. An ATLAS-like detector is parameterized using Delphes. The anti-kT R=0.4 algorithm with calorimeter inputs is used to define the jets.</p> <p>Jets are labelled as b-jets if there is a b-hadron within dR<0.3 of the jet, otherwise as c-jets if there is a c-hadron within dR<0.3, otherwise as light-jets. </p> <p>Tracks are associated to jets if they are within dR<0.4. If this condition holds for more than one jet, only the closest one is considered. Tracks are represented by their perigee parameters (d0, z0, pt, phi, cotan(theta)), which are smeared according to track pt and track eta dependent uncertainties.</p> <p>This dataset is heavily based on the <a href="../records/4044628" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Secondary Vertex Finding in Jets Dataset</a> and we thank J. Shlomi for the code and input.</p>
