Tracks of western disturbances (1950-2022) impacting South Asia

WDs are identified using the feature-tracking algorithm described in Hunt et al (2018). Relative vorticity is averaged across the 450-300 hPa layer, and then spectrally truncated to T42 to remove high-frequency noise that hinders tracking. For each region of positive vorticity, the centroid is located and labelled as a candidate WD. These centroids are connected between timesteps using a nearest-neighbour algorithm, biased to take into account the steering winds of the subtropical jet. Systems that do not on average travel eastward, last fewer than 48 hours, or do not pass through the box [20-42.5°N, 60-80°E] are rejected.
Applied to ERA5, this gives over seventy years of track data (1950-2022). The method followed here is identical to Nischal et al (2022), except the northern edge of the catching box is extended from 36.5°N to 42.5°N, to ensure that all WDs that potentially impact North India are included.

Column titles are:
timestep: a counter indicating the number of 3-hourly timesteps that have passed since 1950-01-01 00:00
track_id: a unique identifier linking points into tracks
time: string describing the date and time
lon: longitude
lat: latitude
vort: vorticity measured at the centre of the WD averaged over the 450-300 hPa layer. Can be used for intensity filtering.
eccentricity: eccentricity of the region of positive vorticity. Can be used to understand local dynamics.

Hunt, K. M. Exploring the Impact of Neuroscience Preprints: A Citation Analysis

1. Neuroscience_Records_Contain_Reference_to_Preprints.Scopus.V3.xlsx

This Excel file contains the titles, DOIs, references, and EIDs of those Neuroscience publications (journal articles, books/book chapters, conference papers, notes, etc.) from 2004 to 2022 that have at least one reference to a preprint. For example, if a Neuroscience journal article has 40 references and one of these references is a preprint, then it's included in this Excel file. These records are retrieved from Scopus through the following query:

REFSRCTITLE ( "OSF Preprints" OR "open science foundation Preprints" OR *africarxiv* OR *agrixiv* OR *arabixiv* OR *arxiv* OR *biohackrxiv* OR *biorxiv* OR *bodoarxiv* OR *cogprints* OR *eartharxiv* OR *ecoevorxiv* OR *ecsarxiv* OR *edarxiv* OR *engrxiv* OR *frenxiv* OR "INA-Rxiv" OR *indiarxiv* OR *lawarxiv* OR "LIS Scholarship Archive" OR *marxiv* OR *mediarxiv* OR *metaarxiv* OR mindrxiv OR *nutrixiv* OR paleorxiv OR "Preprints.org" OR psyarxiv OR *repec* OR *socarxiv* OR *sportrxiv* OR "Thesis Commons" OR "CoP preprint" OR "FocUS Archive preprint" OR "PeerJ preprint" OR "Law Archive preprint" OR *medrxiv* ) AND SUBJAREA ( neur ) AND PUBYEAR < 2023

2. ReferencesToPreprints.V3.txt

References of the publications are split through a Python code (SplitReferences.py) and organized into separate lines in a text file. For example, if a publication has 40 references, all of these 40 references are split into 40 separate lines. After splitting references, those lines containing one of these words/terms ("OSF Preprints" OR "open science foundation preprints" OR africarxiv OR agrixiv OR arabixiv OR arxiv OR biohackrxiv OR biorxiv OR bodoarxiv OR cogprints OR eartharxiv OR ecoevorxiv OR ecsarxiv OR edarxiv OR engrxiv OR frenxiv OR "INA-Rxiv" OR indiarxiv OR lawarxiv OR "LIS Scholarship Archive" OR marxiv OR mediarxiv OR metaarxiv OR mindrxiv OR nutrixiv OR paleorxiv OR "Preprints.org" OR psyarxiv OR repec OR socarxiv OR sportrxiv OR "Thesis Commons" OR "CoP preprint" OR "FocUS Archive preprint" OR "PeerJ preprint" OR "Law Archive preprint" OR medrxiv) are selected (through RetrieveLinesContainingSpeceficString.py) and organized into this text file (ReferencesToPreprints.V3.txt). Each reference contains an EID (separated by ";") in order to specify which publication contains this specific reference.

After this step, through a Python code (AddPreprintServerToEndOfLines.py) the name of a certain preprint was added to the end of each line. For example, if a line (or a reference) contains "biorxiv", the word "biorxiv" will be added to the end of this line after the "@" sign.

Force, displacement, crack length, and strain energy release rate during the test are provided for all specimens.

Climate Change Impacts for 14 Tree Species in Southwest Colorado
Forest management traditionally has been based on expectation of a steady climate. In the face of a changing climate, management requires projections of changes in the distribution of the climatic niche of the major species and strategies for applying the projections. We prepared climatic habitat models incorporating heatload as a topographic predictor for the 14 upland tree species of southwestern Colorado, USA, an area that has already seen substantial climate impacts. Models were trained with over 800,000 points of known presence and absence. Using 11 climate scenarios for the decade around 2060, we classified and mapped change for each species. Projected impacts are extensive. Except for the low-elevation woodland species, persistent habitat is rare. Most habitat is lost or threatened and is poorly compensated by emergent habitat. Three species may be locally extirpated. Nevertheless, strategies are described that can use the projections to apply management where it is likely to be most effective, to facilitate or assist migration, to favor species likely to be suited in the future, and to identify potential climate refugia.
