Roman marble sculpture (female bust), Evora
Roman marble sculpture dated in the 2nd century A.D. It represents a female bust with a complex hairstyle. Although the identity of the character is unknown, some researchers believe that it could be the representation of Faustina Maior (wife of Emperor Antonino Pio, 2nd century). In any case, the beauty of the portrait and its quality are irrefutable proof that we are facing a character from high Roman society. Portrait Bust of Augustus, Marble Sculpture
This is a scan of the sculpture 'Portrait of Augustus, First Emperor of Rome', currently on display at the Museum of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg, FL. This marble scultpure was displayed on a bright red wall, so you can see the reflection of the wall in the left side of the bust. A fun challenge, for sure!
