Ängste vor zu hohen Kosten, Ängste vor Veränderungen stehen hier im Mittelpunkt. Beide sind grundlos, wie das Beispiel eines Projekts an der CDHAW Shanghai vor Augen führt. Prozessaufnahmen sowie Übertragungen in die digitale Welt lassen sich auch mit einfachen Mittel, z.b. International comparison of cross-disciplinary integration in industry 4.0: A co-authorship analysis using academic literature databases
<p>In innovation strategy, a type of Schumpeterian competitive strategy in business administration, "intra-individual diversity" has attracted attention as one factor for creating innovation. In this study, we redefine "framework for identifying researchers' areas of expertise" as "a framework for quantifying intra-individual diversity among researchers. Note that diversity here refers to authorship of articles in multiple research fields. The application of this framework then made it possible to visualize organizational diversity by accumulating the intra-individual diversity of researchers and to discuss the innovation strategy of the organization. The analysis in this study discusses how countries are promoting research on the topics of artificial intelligence (AI), big data, and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, which are at the core of Industry 4.0, from an innovation perspective. Note that Industry 4.0 is a technological framework that aims to "improve the efficiency of all social systems," "create new industries," and "increase intellectual productivity." For the analysis, we used 19-year bibliographic data (2000–2018) from the top 20 countries in terms of the number of papers in AI, big data, and IoT technologies. As the results, this study classified the styles of cross-disciplinary fusion into four patterns in AI and three patterns in big data. This study did not consider the results in IoT because of only small differences between countries. Furthermore, regional differences in the style of cross-disciplinary fusion were also observed, and the global innovation patterns in Industry 4.0 were classified into seven categories. In Europe and North America, the cross-disciplinary integration style was similar to that between the United States, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, England, Italy, Canada, and France. In Asia, the cross-disciplinary fusion style was similar between China, Japan, and South Korea.</p>
Innovation Systems & Policy Insight 3_2022 "Responsible Research & Innovation approach for transitioning the traditional industry regions into digitalized industry territories"
<p>In this ISP Insight Video, coordinator Marianne Hörlesberger tells you more about the EU Project DigiTeRRI which deals with a Responsible Research & Innovation Approach for transitioning the traditional industry regions into digitalised industry territories. The EU project DigiTeRRI empowers 3 traditional industry regions to harness the opportunities presented by digitalisation. The project has co-created a framework and roadmaps for a responsible transition to self-sustaining, digitalised industrial innovation ecosystems. It has worked out the challenges in the interplay between business, academia, government and society to initiate openness, democratic accountability and responsiveness in a process that will in turn promote resilience within these new, digitalised innovation ecosystems. Important attributes for this transition are also gender equality, science education, open access, public engagement, and ethics, which support both organisations and citizens in adapting the transformation that is revolutionising research, industry, economy, & society. Finally, 12 actions, based on the roadmap goals and objectives in each territory have been developed and implemented. This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement nº 873010.</p>

Corrosion in Industrial Complexes in Ostrava
<p>The dataset <em>Corrosion in Industrial Complexes in Ostrava</em> contains 105 high-resolution images capturing various instances of corrosion within industrial complexes located in Ostrava, Czech Republic. Each image is labeled with precise segmentation masks of the corrosion areas. The images were captured with a Nikon D5600 DSLR camera and subsequently resized to a uniform size of 2048x2048 pixels. The data is split into training, validation, and test sets with a ratio of 75:15:15.</p>
Toward three-dimensional DNA industrial nanorobots
<p>Nanoscale industrial robots have potential as manufacturing platforms, capable of automatically performing repetitive tasks to handle and produce nanomaterials with consistent precision and accuracy. We demonstrate a DNA industrial nanorobot, that fabricates a three-dimensional (3D) optically active, chiral structure from optically inactive parts. By making use of externally controlled temperature and ultraviolet (UV) light, our programmable robot, ~ 100 nanometers in size, grabs different parts, positions and aligns them so that they can be "welded", releases the construct and returns to its original configuration ready for its next operation. Our robot can also self-replicate its 3D structure and functions, surpassing single-step templating (restricted to two-dimensional (2D)) by using folding to access the third dimension and more degrees of freedom. Our introduction of multiple-axis precise folding and positioning as a tool/technology for nanomanufacturing will open the door to more complex and useful nano-micro devices.</p>

Sound database of Industrial Machine for Audio Anomaly Detection
<p><span>Audio anomaly detection(AAD) can seamlessly determinefaults in industrial machines and improve the efficiency of predictive maintenance systems. However, the unavailability of audio sound recordings of real industrial machines operating in their actual industrial setup has limited the efficacy of detection systems. Many different audio databases exist having collections of sounds from dummy (or real) systems operating in controlled environments but a collection of audio sounds from actual industrial machines is missing. Therefore, audio sound recordings of an Air compressor machine working in its natural industrial environment are presented. Only real sounds of an actual machine are captured. Synthetic mixing of sounds is avoided. Damaging the machine to create an anomalous state is avoided. Yet fourteen different unhealthy states are identified and their audio recordings are presented. Dataset with varied values of SNRs is also presented. Spectrograms are plotted and spectral shape parameter values of the developed corpus are calculated. The findings demonstrate the divergence in the developed database and its usefulness in building an effective AAD system for a real industrial machine.</span> </p>

Survey - Business Model Innovations in the Digital Publishing Industry: A Question of reluctance to innovate?
<p>News Publishers today struggle with their business model: their efforts to convert their traditional business into digital products have generally proven to be futile. In order to explore a possible reluctance to innovate in the digital news publishing industry, in our study we are focusing on the Digital News Initiative (DNI) which is a partnership between Google and news publishers across Europe to support high-quality journalism through technology and foster innovation. Founded in 2015, the DNI has already funded over 460 projects across Europe with €94m. In our study we will deep dive into these projects by categorizing the type of innovation in a simple document analysis. Afterwards we will conduct a explorative survey with publishers. This will help us finding out whether they also dealt with a reluctance to innovate within their organization, what the main obstacles have been during their innovation process and how they have overcome them. The explorative results are not only valid for publishers but can also be transferred to other industries whose products and services are affected by digitalization.</p> <p>Anonymus survey with 31 full answers from publishers in the DACH Region conducted with LimeSurvey in March 2018.</p>
