Trace Element Concentrations in Feathers of Migratory Birds from the Southern Caspian Sea Region, 2013
This dataset presents concentrations of eight trace elements—arsenic (As), cadmium (Cd), chromium (Cr), iron (Fe), manganese (Mn), nickel (Ni), lead (Pb), and zinc (Zn)—measured in secondary flight feathers of waterbird species wintering along the southern Caspian Sea coast of Iran. Samples were collected in February 2013 from multiple species representing diverse feeding guilds and avian families. The data support ecological assessments of contaminant exposure in migratory birds and provide insight into trophic-level accumulation patterns. Elemental analysis was performed using standardized laboratory protocols, and values are reported in micrograms per gram dry weight (µg/g dw). This dataset contributes to regional biomonitoring efforts and can be used for comparative studies in avian ecotoxicology and environmental risk assessment.
Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest: Ice Storm Experiment Trace Gas
Trace gas fluxes were measured using the in situ chamber design similar to that described by Bowden and others (1990, 1991). Static gas soil sampling chambers (four per plot) of 20 cm diameter (ID) polyvinyl chloride (PVC) were placed on permanently installed PVC base rings immediately prior to measurement. At 0, 10, 20, and 30 min following placement of the chamber on the base, 8-mL gas samples were collected from gas sampling ports in the center of the chamber top by syringe. Samples were transferred to evacuated glass vials and stored at room temperature prior to analysis by gas chromatography (GC). CO2, N2O, and CH4 were analyzed on a Shimadzu GC-14 GC with thermal conductivity (CO2), electron capture (N2O), and flame ionization (CH4) detectors. These GC’s were capable of detecting ambient levels of these gases. Fluxes were calculated from the linear rate of change in gas concentration, the chamber internal volume and soil surface area. Flux rate calculations were not corrected for actual in situ temperature and pressure. Single points were removed from regressions if they were more than six times higher or lower than the other three values or if they contradicted a clear trend in the other three points. This procedure prevents inclusion of high flux rates based on non-significant regressions. Non-significant regressions were used in flux calculations to avoid biasing the statistical distribution of rates by setting all non-significant regressions to zero. Gas samples were collected prior to any icing treatment in September and October 2015, and then for 2 years after the icing treatments were initially applied (1st icing: 1/27/16; 2nd icing, only in MIDx2 plots: 1/14/17) in August 2016, July 2017, and October 2017.

Ground-based observations of aerosols and trace gases at a remote site in Taiwan in the spring of 2017
<p>Intensive measurements of aerosols were conducted at a remote site (Cape Fuguei, 25.30N, 121.54E) in Taiwan in the spring of 2017. A laser-induced incandescence - mass spectrometric analyzer (LII-MS) was used to measure the chemical composition of aerosols internally or externally mixed with black carbon. Meteorological parameters, trace gases including O<sub>3</sub>, NO<sub>x</sub>, SO<sub>2</sub>, and CO, and PM<sub>2.5</sub> mass concentration were also measured at the site.</p>

This must be checked/verified/corrected for all files before running any analyses! I recommend visual inspection by plotting each beak dataset as a scatterplot in a color spectrum (rainbow, etc.).</li> <li>These were traced over pixel images, so each file has a different number of xy coordinates (depending on the pixel resolution/image size that was traced).</li> <li>All bird specimen images were downloaded from Phenome10k.org</li> <li>All cephalopod specimens were traced from images published in: <ul> <li>Xavier, J. Data from: Tracing the patterns of non-marine turtle richness from Triassic–Palaeogene: from origin through global spread
<p>Turtles are key components of modern vertebrate faunas and it is predicted that their diversity and distributions will be affected by anthropogenic climate change. Despite this, few studies have attempted to provide baseline data on turtle taxonomic richness through time or assess their past responses to global environmental change. We used the extensive Triassic–Palaeogene (252–23 Ma) fossil record of terrestrial and freshwater turtles to investigate diversity patterns, finding substantial variation in richness through time and between continents. Subsampled turtle richness was low globally from their Triassic origin until the Late Jurassic. There is strong evidence for high richness in the earliest Cretaceous of Europe. Richness was especially high following the Cretaceous Thermal Maximum and declined in all continents by the end-Cretaceous. At the K-Pg boundary, South American richness levels changed little while North American richness increased. Subsampled North American turtle richness was very high during the earliest Palaeogene (Danian) while South American richness was low; informative data on earliest Palaeogene turtle richness are lacking elsewhere. However, the Selandian–Thanetian interval, approximately 5 million years after the K-Pg mass extinction, shows low turtle richness in Asia, Europe and South America. This suggests the occurrence of exceptional turtle richness in the post-extinction Paleocene fauna of North America is not globally representative. Richness decreased over the Eocene–Oligocene boundary in North America but increased to its greatest known level for Europe, implying very different responses to dramatic Eocene–Oligocene climatic shifts. Time series regressions suggest number of formations sampled and palaeotemperature are the primary influencers of face-value richness counts, but additional factors not tested here may also be involved.</p>
