5G-VINNI Webinar for ICT-19 Proposers

The 5G-VINNI project hold a webinar to explain its end-to-end facility to ICT-19 proposers and explain the process for obtaining consent for use of the 5G-VINNI facility. For ICT-19 proposers it is important to correctly understand how they can make use of the 5G-VINNI end-to-end facility. The webinar gave an overview on the facility and answered the questions that proposers had. In our webinar, we informed ICT-19 proposers and other interested participants about the 5G-VINNI facility and how to access and use it for the trials and validations of ICT-19 projects. The target audience for this webinar were proposers for ICT-19 projects in the context of the 5G PPP initiative of the H2020 programme of the European Commission.

Distribution of blood flow oscillation across the Doppler shift evaluated by the proposed approach with local pressure test.

A step-wise increase in local pressure is known to cause a gradual change in the parameters of capillary blood flow in the
upper layers of the skin, and can also affect the measurement results of various optical methods. The impact of the procedure has several subsequent effects, such as mechanical compression of vessels, and neurological and metabolic compensating mechanisms like pressure-induced vasodilation, which maintain the homeostasis of the skin during moderate levels of external pressure and tissue hypoxia. To examine how those effects are translated to the blood flow registering in different ranges of the Doppler spectra, we have developed a 3D-printed pressure distribution tool compatible with the developed sensor which was used, and equipped with a set of weights.

During the main series of measurements, the weights were placed into the PDT in a step-wise manner to achieve the
following values of pressure applied: 10 mmHg, 30 mmHg, 90 mmHg, 150 mmHg, 210 mmHg. At the end of the procedure, the load was reduced back to 30 mmHg. Experiments were conducted with the participation of 7 healthy volunteers with 10 min LDF recording for each step. To estimate the prominence of the observed effects and substantiate the measuring routing, several preliminary experiments were also conducted where the set of values of pressure was applied with a step-wise increase and then decrease with about 2 min of LDF recordings for each step.

Published in IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering "Diagnosis of skin vascular complications revealed by time-frequency analysis and laser Doppler spectrum decomposition", Zherebtsov et al.

New proposal of epiphytic Bromeliaceae functional groups to include nebulophytes and shallow tanks: functional traits and environmental variables data bases

Data set contains two data files (two .xlsx files). The first data file contains records of functional traits from 204 Bromeliacea species, this records are separeted in two sheets, one with new data compiled from publications, original data and data messuered from herbarium specimens; the second sheed compiled data published by Heits et al., 2021, that was combined with sheet 1 data to carry out statistical analysis; this base also contains other sheets with refrences, contributors and sites of collection. The second data file contains environmental data obtand from bioclim, Terraclimate, Zomer et al. (2022) and FAO, such as vapor presure deficit, precipitation, aridity index, soil capacity to retein moisture, evapotranspiration, temperature and ecological zones from species records from GBif and herbarium georeferenced records. Records include references and contributors.

Supplementary data from: A genetic assessment of natural barriers for isolating a proposed Greenback cutthroat trout reintroduction area

We used genetic techniques to evaluate a series of natural waterfalls for their potential to serve as barriers to prevent nonnative salmonids from entering a proposed reintroduction area for federally threatened Greenback cutthroat trout Oncorhynchus clarkii stomias. Genetic samples were collected from nonnative Brook Trout Salvelinus fontinalis at 11 sampling reaches above and below natural waterfalls (height: ~1-3 m under baseflow conditions) along a 33-km segment of Colorado's upper Cache la Poudre River near the outflow of the proposed reintroduction area. To evaluate whether upstream movement of Brook Trout is restricted by any of these waterfalls, we characterized longitudinal trends in genetic diversity along the river corridor and examined patterns of genetic differentiation and population structure in relation to waterfall locations using a panel of microsatellites. We found no evidence that the waterfalls served as complete movement barriers for nonnative Brook Trout based on genetic clustering analyses, estimates of population differentiation, and longitudinal genetic patterns. Our multi-locus assessment did not identify alleles restricted to downstream reaches, and the river segment was genetically homogenized. This evaluation suggests that the existing waterfalls do not fully prevent upstream movement by nonnative Brook Trout, and thus barrier modification would be needed to establish an isolated Greenback cutthroat trout population in the proposed wilderness area.
