Tropical dry woodland loss occurs disproportionately in areas of highest conservation value

This data repository contains the data results used to analyse how deforestation dynamics relate to areas of woodland protection and to conservation priorities across the world's tropical dry woodlands. We do this for the period of 2000 to 2020, at 10-km spatial resolution (Coordinate System: WGS_1984_Mollweide, float format) following Buchadas et al. (2022) methods available in https://doi.org/10.1038/s41893-022-00886-9. Datasets used for this analysis are generally publicly available, forest cover and loss data are available at: https://data.globalforestwatch.org/. The data on protected areas is available at https://www.protectedplanet.net/. The global conservation priority layers have been made openly available as part of Jung et al. (2021) at https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.5006332. The map of Indigenous Peoples' Lands can be obtained from the authors on reasonable request (Garnett et al. 2018). The data are not publicly available due to privacy or ethical restrictions. Thus we refrain from sharing the primary data that includes it, here.

Further details of the datasets can be found in Buchadas et. al. (2023)

For further questions or issues with the datasets, please contact Ana Buchadas at ana.buchadas@geo.hu-berlin.de.

Selected BMRB 1D 1H NMR data and physical chemistry values compiled from literature

This dataset contains a collection of a few 1D 1H nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy experiment data from the Biological Magnetic Resonance Data Bank (BMRB). I collected them for reference on Zenodo because the BMRB in recent years have switched servers and adopted new web APIs, and I want to have this data in a data archive for ease of reproducing the results in my work. Please cite (doi: 10.1093/nar/gkac1050) if you use the BMRB data from this dataset, or consider downloading from their website.

This dataset also contains my compiled lists of physical chemistry NMR parameters (chemical shift, J-coupling) from literature and public domain sources for select compounds. One source is the Guided Ideographic Spin System Model Optimization (GISSMO) website, which is based on (DOI: 10.1021/acs.analchem.7b02884) and (DOI: 10.1021/acs.analchem.8b02660). Another source I used is (DOI: 10.1002/nbm.3336). Please cite these sources in addition to this dataset if you use any of the physical chemistry information in this dataset. See the read me file for the format details.

I do not guarantee the accuracy of any of the data in this dataset.

Computational mechanisms underlying latent value updating of unchosen actions

Current studies suggest that individuals estimate the value of their choices based on observed feedback. Here, we ask whether individuals also update the value of their unchosen actions, even when the associated feedback remains unknown. One hundred and seventy-eight individuals completed a multi-armed bandit task, making choices to gain rewards. We found robust evidence suggesting latent value updating of unchosen actions based on the chosen action's outcome. Computational modeling results suggested that this effect is mainly explained by a value updating mechanism whereby individuals integrate the outcome history for choosing an option with that of rejecting the alternative. Properties of the deliberation (i.e., duration/difficulty) did not moderate the latent value updating of unchosen actions, suggesting that memory traces generated during deliberation might take a smaller role in this specific phenomenon than previously thought. We discuss the mechanisms facilitating credit assignment to unchosen actions and their implications for human decision-making.

Scientific Value Agent companion data

Companion data for the Scientific Value Agent manuscript. To use, unzip all tarballs into a "results" directory in the root of https://github.com/matthewcarbone/ScientificValueAgent. All notebooks should then work as-is.

Results from 23-09-02 have also been uploaded. These contain some data used in the supplementary data of our manuscript in which we fix the regularization parameter of our procedure.

Quantification of the value of selected Nature's Contributions to People provided by Low Trophic Species aquaculture

This dataset was generated by the work on quantification of Nature’s Contributions to People (NCPs) provided by Low Trophic Species (LTS) aquaculture. The quantification and analysis of selected NCPs was performed based on selected indicators using data from the case studies within the AquaVitae project and literature reviews.
