5 Tips to handle Open Access Publication Costs

This video (duration 1:51), produced as part of the project "Austrian Transition to Open Access 2" addresses employees at research institutions involved in processing invoices for scientific publications (especially accountants, departmental assistants, secretaries). It aims to sensitize this group to the importance of OA cost monitoring and the correct handling of OA invoices. The video also provides tips on how to detect (e.g. by means of pertinent publishing houses as creditors) and post OA invoices adequately.

Blueprint: Data Access Enablers. From Stakeholders to Purpose, Through Use

This blueprint can be used to trace Access to Data Rights.

Stakeholders Access to Data - Standardized Schema

The schema helps to streamline and enhance the understanding of access regimes while facilitating the creation of a machine-readable version for easier automation or embedding into software. By adopting this schema, the authors aim to provide a practical solution for enhancing data access and reuse while improving transparency and accountability in the process.

Digitalisation and Access to Information I PRODIGEES IMexico

Originally published on YouTube: Digitalisation and Access to Information I PRODIGEES I Mexico - YouTube

Funded by the PRODIGEES project, during a stay as guest researcher at our partner institute the Institution Mora in Mexico City, Anita Breuer conducted research on the implications of digitalisation and disinformation for democracy and social cohesion. In a video she now shares preliminary findings of her research and implications for development cooperation in the field of rights to information and freedom of expression.

GEOLAB - Transnational Access project LIWEMAT – Deformation characterisation of LIghtWEight foundation MATerials

Proper use of lightweight materials as construction material for various types of infrastructure brings a lot of advantages to European critical infrastructure related to weight reduction and prevention of progressive heating or freezing of its structural elements.

Large-scale Triaxial Apparatus was used to perform the loading tests, which enables the characterization of materials at very small strain ranges with a very high accuracy level of load-displacement control. The apparatus has rigid confining aluminum frames with a height of 3 cm and cross-section of 40 x 40 cm, enabling prismatic specimens with a height of up to 80 cm to be tested.

This research aims to determine the characteristics of expanded clay and foamed glass aggregates through laboratory testing, performing cyclic loading for the stiffness and damping evaluation, which would be beneficial parameters for numerical simulations.

Testing material

The foam glass aggregate has a homogeneous microstructure with approximate uniform shape and sizes. Foam glass aggregate is considered one of the best solid isolation materials with several unique properties. It can be widely used in many applications such as basement walls, foundations, floors and roofs, terrace and garden covers, rooftops, and parking areas.

The expanded clay aggregate is round shape with different sizes with small, air-filled cavities, with dark brown, reddish, brown-red or gray colors, which depends on the chemical composition of the expanded clay. The lightweight expanded clay aggregate has bulk density from 250 kg/m3 to 710 kg/m3, mostly dependent on the size of the aggregate.

The affiliation network of the Radical Open Access Collective visualised

This figure depicts the affiliation network of the Radical Open Access Collective (https://radicaloa.postdigitalcultures.org/), which is an international community of scholar-led publishing initiatives. It was formed in 2015 and the data collection via web-based research took place in the period from April 2021 until April 2022. The visualisation process was developed interatively throughout a qualitatively driven mixed methods research on scholar-led publishing initiatives. As part of 23 qualitative expert interviews, network elicitation was embedded as a method of mixed methods social network analysis. Several iterations of the network map were created with the software MindManager 2020. An edited version of the network graph was published in the Journal of Scholarly Publishing (Schimmel, 2023).
