Recording of Hera X-band telemetry with the Allen Telescope Array shortly after launch (part 2/2)

This dataset contains an IQ recording of the X-band 8435.8 MHz telemetry signal from the Hera spacecraft done with the Allen Telescope Array starting 1 hour and 30 minutes after launch. Antenna 1a from the ATA was used in dual linear polarization (X and Y polarizations).

The hardware configuration was as follows: the antenna was connected to RFCB LO d, which was tuned to a frequency of 8435.75 MHz and used an output IF of 512 MHz. A USRP N321 digitized both polarizations of each antenna. The USRP used an external 10 MHz reference and PPS coming from the observatory distribution system, and LO sharing was set up among the two channels. The IQ sample rate of the USRP was 6.144 Msps, and a GNU Radio flowgraph was used to record IQ data to disk. The GNU Radio flowgraph stored the IQ data for each channel as 16-bin integers in the GNU Radio metatata file format, with detached headers. The header files are included in the dataset as .hdr files.

After recording, the data was downsampled to 2.048 Msps 8-bit IQ to reduce the size, and formatted in SigMF with the script do_sigmf.py (contained in part 1/2).

Antenna pointing was done manually by trying to maximize the received signal power, since the ephemerides publicly available when the launch happened differed greatly from the true launch trajectory. As a consequence, there is signal fading when the antenna is not pointed correctly.

This dataset is part 2/2. It contains a recording of the high rate telemetry signal. Part 1/2 contains two recordings of the low rate telemetry signal.

Data from: Single-nucleotide polymorphism discovery and validation in high-density SNP array for genetic analysis in European white oaks

An Illumina Infinium SNP genotyping array was constructed for European white oaks. Six individuals of Quercus petraea and Q. robur were considered for SNP discovery using both previously obtained Sanger sequences across 676 gene regions (1371 in vitro SNPs) and Roche 454 technology sequences from 5112 contigs (6542 putative in silico SNPs). The 7913 SNPs were genotyped across the six parental individuals, full-sib progenies (one within each species and two interspecific crosses between Q. petraea and Q. robur) and three natural populations from south-western France that included two additional interfertile white oak species (Q. pubescens and Q. pyrenaica). The genotyping success rate in mapping populations was 80.4% overall and 72.4% for polymorphic SNPs. In natural populations, these figures were lower (54.8% and 51.9%, respectively). Illumina genotype clusters with compression (shift of clusters on the normalized x-axis) were detected in ~25% of the successfully genotyped SNPs and may be due to the presence of paralogues. Compressed clusters were significantly more frequent for SNPs showing a priori incorrect Illumina genotypes, suggesting that they should be considered with caution or discarded. Altogether, these results show a high experimental error rate for the Infinium array (between 15% and 20% of SNPs potentially unreliable and 10% when excluding all compressed clusters), and recommendations are proposed when applying this type of high-throughput technique. Finally, results on diversity levels and shared polymorphisms across targeted white oaks and more distant species of the Quercus genus are discussed, and perspectives for future comparative studies are proposed.

Cygnus A 8.45 GHz interferometric observation with Allen Telescope Array

This dataset corresponds to an interferometric observation that was done in the context of the GNU Radio community activities at Allen Telescope Array. The observation was carried out using a GNU Radio FX software correlator and two USRP N32x SDR transceivers, as well as some custom code for phasing and data reduction.

Cygnus A and some compact sources (3C84, 3C286, J2007+404) were observed over three days between 2021-07-23 and 2021-07-25 using 6 antennas from the array. The observation frequency was 8.45 GHz. Two USRP N32x were connected to the 512 MHz IF output of the RFCB LO d. Each USRP digitized the two polarizations of one antenna. This setup requires baselines to be iterated one at a time for interferometric observing. The observing bandwidth was 40.96 MHz.

An FX correlator with 2048 channels and an integration time of 0.1 seconds was implemented in GNU Radio. The drifting correlations were then phased to each source in post processing. CASA was used for calibration and imaging.

This post contains the following files:

ATA-20210723.tar, ATA-20210724.tar, and ATA-20210725.tar contain the phased correlator output for each of the days in UVFITS format, reduced to a rate of 1 second and 64 channels

CASA-masks.tar contains CLEAN masks to be used with CASA and this script to reproduce the whole CASA pipeline starting from the UVFITS files

CASA-images.tar contains CLEAN images and self-calibrated CLEAN images for all of the sources in FITS format, as well as the ancialliary files produced by CASA during tclean

The raw FX correlator output is not included in this dataset because of size constraints.

More information about this observation and the processing pipeline can be found in the post "Imaging Cygnus A at 8.45 GHz with ATA" by the author.

Recording of Artemis I Orion with the Allen Telescope Array on 2022-11-16 (part 2/2)

This dataset contains an IQ recording of the S-band 2216.5 MHz telemetry signal from the Artemis I Orion Multipurpose Crewed Vehicle. The recording was done on 2022-11-16, about seven hours after launch. Antenna 1a from the Allen Telescope Array was used in dual XY (linear) polarization.

The hardware configuration was as follows: the antenna was connected to RFCB LO d, which was tuned to a frequency of 2216.5 MHz and used an output IF of 512 MHz. A USRP N321 was connected to the IF output of the RFCB. The USRP N321 digitized both polarizations of the antenna. The USRP used an external 10 MHz reference and PPS coming from the observatory distribution system, and LO sharing was set up among the two channels. The IQ sample rate of the USRP was 10.24 Msps and a GNU Radio flowgraph was used to record IQ data to disk. The GNU Radio flowgraph stored the IQ data for each channel as 16-bin integers in the GNU Radio metatata file format, with detached headers.

After recording, the data was postprocessed to synthesize the signal polarization (which is expected to be RHCP) by finding and correcting the amplitude and phase offset between the X and Y channels, and adding coherently both channels. The data was converted to 8-bit to reduce the size of the dataset. Finally the dataset was formatted using SigMF.

This dataset contains part 2. Part 1, which contains a recording done at an earlier time during the same session can be found here.
