A global review of subaqueous spreading and its morphological and sedimentological characteristics: A database for highlighting the current state of the art

Subaqueous spreading, a type of extensional mass transport that is characterized by a ridge and trough
morphology, has been documented globally but is poorly understood. Subaqueous spreading is observed on
gently inclined surfaces (typically <3◦) when sediment bodies experience a sudden reduction of shear strength
along their basal plane during clay softening or liquefaction of sands or silty sand sediment. Historically,
spreading has been associated with very large landslides, but many unknown aspects of these mass movements
have yet to be clarified. Does spreading influences the large catastrophic failure? What are the sedimentological
and morphological aspects that contribute in initiating this process? These are some of the research questions
that spurred the present work. Here, we introduce a database that incorporates information from thirty-two case
studies, and use this to provide key insights into the sedimentary and morphological aspects of subaqueous
spreading that will assist in the identification of spreading elsewhere. We find that subaqueous spreading is most
common along passive glacial margins, but is also observed along active margins. The occurrence of contourites
interlayered with glaciogenic deposits is, in most cases, associated with landslides (or landslide complexes) with
spreading morphology. The database shows that seismic loading is commonly suggested to be the dominant
trigger mechanism, although more geotechnical observations and modelling analysis would be needed to support
this conclusion. We compare subaqueous spreading with terrestrial spreading, in particular to earthquake-related
lateral spreading and clay landslides. We find that subaqueous spreading shares the same driving processes and
potentially also some of the trigger mechanisms that are associated with the terrestrial spreading cases. Future
work will be required to address the association between spreading and its occurrence on some of the largest
landslides on Earth, its development mechanism, and its potential hazard implications.

Effects of a body manipulation of Japanese martial arts on interpersonal correlation of postural sway

This study aimed to investigate the nature of a specific body manipulation named Suichoku-Ririku (SR) in Japanese martial arts. SR is regarded as a method to change the way of stance and to distort the balance control of the opponent, but its nature and mechanism are unknown. In the present study, we attempted to determine the effect of SR in the cases where a person stood alone (Expt. 1) and where two persons stood in contact (Expt. 2). We compared several centers of pressure (COP) measures between the normal stance and SR stance conditions. When participants stood independently (Expt. 1), the COP path length, the standard deviation of COP velocity, and permutation entropy of the COP increased with the SR stance, which suggested that the SR maneuver destabilized a quiet stance. When two participants stood (with normal stance) in contact by wrist-holding or by light touch (Expt. 2), their COP motions were correlated with each other, as previously reported. When one of the participants took the SR maneuver, their correlation and mutual information were maintained, denying the view that SR would diminish the interpersonal correlation of body sway. On the other hand, a fluctuation in the COP increased only for the participant taking the SR maneuver, and not for the other participant. This asymmetric effect of the SR maneuver between two participants, irrespective of maintained mutual correlation, suggests that the relationship between the balance controls of two participants was partly disrupted. We discuss possible mechanisms for the present results.

DEArt: Dataset of European Art

DEArt is an object detection and pose classification dataset meant to be a reference for paintings between the XIIth and the XVIIIth centuries. It contains more than 15000 images, about 80% non-iconic, aligned with manual annotations for the bounding boxes identifying all instances of 69 classes as well as 12 possible poses for boxes identifying human-like objects. Of these, more than 50 classes are cultural heritage specific and thus do not appear in other datasets; these reflect imaginary beings, symbolic entities and other categories related to art.

Broughmore Wood 1a - Quernstones & Rock Art
This model show the E portion of the large rock panel, Broughmore Wood 1, which is split by a deer fence. This is a complex rock surface which has rock art motifs (notably rosettes, cup marks and oval-shaped cup marks) together with arrays of miniature quern stone rough-outs and larger quernstone to millstone sized rough-outs. Activity possibly extending from the Neolithic/Bronze Ages through the Iron Age through to post-medieval activity. A plan is now in the pipeline for a full excavation of the site, which it is hoped will shed more light on its chronology and, hopefully, reveal even of these more fascinating rock surfaces. This panel was recorded and 3D modelled by Nick Parish for Scotland's Rock Art Project (ScRAP). Source: Objaverse 1.0 / Sketchfab

Escoural Rock Art Engraving 51 to 57
Discovered on an April afternoon in 1963, after an explosion of a quarry, the Escoural Cave proved to be an unavoidable site for the history of archeology in Portugal. What the cavel represents today transcends its tourist value, and assumes itself as an international reference for Paleolithic art as the westernmost point of Europe with such artistic representations of Prehistory. The cave art of the Escoural Cave fits in chronologically between 20,000 and 18,000 years a. C. In addition to the engravings, paintings depicting various figures from aurochs to equines as well as geometrical are also known. This is the 3D model of a large panel with engraving 51 to 57 including some reticulated and equidean and bovine art. There are also two painted red parallel lines. Source: Objaverse 1.0 / Sketchfab

Vintage Vitrine Art Deco Cabinet
Thought my portfolio could use a little diversity, so i've done something completely out of my comfort zone. Here I have a vintage, piano laquer cabinet made using various non-orthographic reference images off Google. The model was made with functionality in mind and can open up using the open animation.
