VILAS ASTEROID SPECTRA V1.0

This data set contains 85 published spectra of asteroids obtained by Faith Vilas during the years 1982 - 1992. These appeared in the following papers: [VILASETAL1985]; [VILAS&SMITH1985]; [VILAS&MCFADDEN1992]; [VILASETAL1993A]; [VILASETAL1993B]

SAWYER ASTEROID SPECTRA V1.0

This data set contains 94 asteroid spectra obtained by Scott Sawyer as part of his Ph.D. dissertation at the University of Texas at Austin.

ASTEROID MASSES

This collection of asteroid masses and densities was compiled from the published literature by Jim Baer, Steve Chesley, and Dan Britt. Size and shape information are included as well to show the source of the tabulated bulk density. This is the version of the compilation as of April 18, 2012.

ASTEROID ABSOLUTE MAGNITUDES V9.0

Absolute magnitudes and slopes, mostly IAU-adopted with exceptions noted, for all asteroids numbered as of the 2005 April 7 batch of Minor Planet Circulars.

IRAS MINOR PLANET SURVEY ASTEROIDS V4.0

The data presented with this data set include: (a) 8210 individual sightings associated with 2004 asteroids, (b) averaged radiometric diameters and geometric albedos derived from individual observations for 1796 numbered asteroids and 88 unnumbered asteroids (as of 1983) whose orbital elements were determined using astrometry from two or more apparitions; (c) an entry for each of 120 asteroids for which there is an accepted sighting; (d) entries for each of 4677 numbered asteroids and 2632 unnumbered asteroids (as of 1985) for which associations were sought in the IRAS data; (e) A summary of the number of times each asteroid was predicted to be scanned, and possible reasons for any failure to be detected.

DELBO THERMAL INFRARED ASTEROID DIAMETERS AND ALBEDOS V1.0

This data set contains radiometric albedos and diameters for Near Earth Asteroids (NEAs) derived by three different thermal models and reported in Delbo (2004) [DELBO2004]. The observed infrared fluxes on which the derivations were based are also included.

BUS-DEMEO ASTEROID TAXONOMY V1.0

The Bus-DeMeo asteroid taxonomy classification system, described in DeMeo et al. (2009), is based on reflectance spectrum characteristics for 371 asteroids measured over the wavelength 0.45 to 2.45 microns. This system of 24 classes is constructed using principal component analysis, following most closely the visible wavelength taxonomy of Bus (1999), which itself builds upon the system of Tholen (1984). Nearly all of the Bus taxonomy classes are preserved, with one new class (Sv) defined. This data set includes a table of classifications in the Bus-DeMeo system for the 371 asteroids upon which the system is based. It also includes mean spectra for each of the classes.

REDDY NEAR-EARTH AND MARS-CROSSING ASTEROIDS

This data set contains low-resolution (R~150) near-infrared (0.7-2.5 microns) spectra of 27 asteroids, 5 Mars-crossing and 22 near-Earth asteroids, observed with the SpeX instrument on the NASA Infrared Telescope Facility (IRTF) on Mauna Kea, Hawai'i. This data set archives reduced, calibrated spectra of targets of opportunity observed from 2001 to 2008.

ASTEROID ALBEDOS

This data set comprises a compilation of asteroid albedos for the convenience of the user. Most but not all of the albedos compiled here also appear in other PDS data sets.

SMASS ASTEROID SURVEY V1.0

The Small Main-belt Asteroid Spectrographic Survey (SMASS) was initiated in 1990 with the goal of obtaining spectra over the visual wavelength region for a substantial number of small (D < 20 km) main-belt asteroids. Observations were primarily made using the 2.4 m Hiltner telescope, located at the Michigan-Dartmouth-MIT (MDM) Observatory on the southwest ridge of Kitt Peak in Arizona.

ASTEROID RADAR V5.0

This data set is intended to include all groundbased asteroid radar detections. These entries were collected by Steven J. Ostro (1989) [OSTRO1989] and selected data have been provided as collected from the published literature. A null value (e.g., '9.99') in any particular column indicates that the corresponding datum was not available in the published paper. For example, for monostatic radar observations, circular polarization ratio cannot be derived, so the value in this column is '9.99'. In some cases, the data provided in the paper are too complex to be presented in the table, as in the case of a time-series of values.

ASTEROID LIGHTCURVE DERIVED DATA V2.0

This is a compilation of published lightcurve results up through 23 January, 1996. This compilation is maintained by Alan Harris, JPL.

ASTEROID NAMES AND DISCOVERY V1.0

This data set includes names, designations, and discovery circumstances for the numbered asteroids, sorted in order of catalog number. A similar file sorted in alphabetic order by name is also available in the Small Bodies Node asteroid data archive.

ASTEROID TAXONOMY V6.0

This data set is a collection of asteroid taxonomic classifications from various classification methods, collected from the literature.

ASTEROID OCCULTATIONS V6.0

This data set is intended to include all reported timings of observed asteroid occultation events as well as asteroid occultation axes derived from those timings by David W. Dunham and David Herald. Some occultations by planetary satellites are also included. This version is complete through the end of 2007, and contains additional events from 2008.

NESVORNY HCM ASTEROID FAMILIES V1.0

This data set contains asteroid dynamical family memberships for 55 families, calculated by David Nesvorny using his code based on the Hierarchical Clustering Method (HCM) described in Zappala et al. (1990, 1994). The input proper elements for 293,368 asteroids were calculated by Milani and Knezevic and are restricted to low-inclination asteroids.

ASTEROID RADAR V16.0

This data set is intended to include all published groundbased asteroid radar detections. The file is based on the collection of asteroid radar detections established by Steven J. Ostro and currently maintained by Lance A.M. Benner. The file includes disc-integrated radar properties extracted from the published papers.

IRAS MINOR PLANET SURVEY ASTEROIDS V5.0

Derived diameters and albedoes of asteroids, plus associated data on sighting and non-sightings, extracted from the IRAS archives.
