Schiffsglocke / Ship's bell
Schiffsglocke von einem Wrack aus der Ostsee. Die gut erhaltene Glocke hat eine Seitenhöhe von 30 cm. Der Schärfendurchmesser beträgt 31 cm. Die vierteilige Krone ist 5 cm hoch. Schulter und Flanke der Glocke sind mit floralen Verzierungen versehen. Am unteren Teil der Flanke findet sich die Inschrift: ME FECIT GERHARDT MEYER ANNO 1706. Darunter ist das gekrönte Monogramm von Karl XII von Schweden sichtbar. Gerdt Meyer, ein Bronzegießer deutschen Ursprungs erhielt 1641 die Vollmacht als königlicher Stückgießer in Stockholm zu arbeiten. Sein Enkel Gerhardt Meyer der Ältere leitete den Meyerschen Familienbetrieb von 1695 bis 1710 und war wahrscheinlich für den Guss der Schiffsglocke verantwortlich. ALM2019/699,1 - Scan J.
