Impact of Training Instance Selection on Automated Algorithm Selection Models for Numerical Black-box Optimization -- Reproducibility Files

This repository contains the files to reproduce the results from the paper "Impact of Training Instance Selection on Automated Algorithm Selection Models for Numerical Black-box Optimization".

Data Collection

In this folder, all files used to generate the raw performance data for the set of algorithms are included, as well as the code used to generate the ELA features. For the performance, the packages 'ioh', 'nevergrad', 'modde' and 'modcma' are essential, while 'pflacco' is used for ELA. For all scripts in this folder, the number of parallel threads and the folders for reading function settings (included as 3 csv files in this folder) and storing data should be set before execution.

Note that the full performance data exceeds 50GB, so it is not included in this repository. Instead, the results of processing it (using the aocc_extraction script) are included in the 'auc_MABBOB' folder (spread across multiple csv-files, with a version using a different budget factor included as well).

The ELA data is included as 'ELA' and 'ELA_BBOB' for the affine combinations and component functions respectively.

Data Processing, Analysis and Visualization

The remaining reproducibility files can be found in the Reproducibility folder. Within this folder are several notebooks which handle various steps in the pipeline, starting with preprocessing the data collected in the previous steps. This results in some csv-files, which are also included for convenience. Afterwards, the remaining notebooks deal with correlation analysis, instance selection methods, and all included plots from the paper. To match the environment used during our execution of these scripts. a yml-file (to be used with conda or mamba) is available as well.

Determinants of nest box local recruitment and natal dispersal in a declining bird population

Recruitment and dispersal are important demographic rates and studying their determinants is particularly important in the current context of global anthropogenic perturbations. In birds, and especially for migratory species, assessing these rates is challenging because of the difficulties involved in tracking individuals beyond fledging. Here we assessed the determinants of nest box local recruitment and natal dispersal distances in a declining aerial insectivore, the Tree swallow (Tachycineta bicolor). We used a 16-year dataset obtained from the long-term monitoring of a population breeding within a 10,200-km2 study system located along a gradient of agricultural intensification in southern Québec, Canada. Yearly nest box local recruitment rates ranged there in between 1.0% and 3.2%. Heavier nestlings who fledged earlier were more likely to recruit. Natal dispersal distances were generally short (mean ± SD = 12.7 ± 13.8 km) in the study system and were influenced by different factors depending on sex. Females dispersed over shorter distances when conspecific occupancy on breeding site was high, while males dispersed farther in the presence of competing House sparrows (Passer domesticus) and when their mother was young. Selection of breeding locations appeared to take place at multiple scales and individuals recruited in sites with characteristics similar to their natal sites. Our results provide important information concerning the factors influencing nest box local recruitment and natal dispersal dynamics of this migratory species. These factors should be considered in conservation practices for this species in order to support production of recruits in habitats favorable to their survival.

Appendix to Combinatorial Methods for Dynamic Gray-Box SQL Injection Testing

This appendix contains the detailed results of our case study performed in the context of our article "Combinatorial Methods for Dynamic Gray-Box SQL Injection Testing", published in the Journal of Software Testing, Verification and Reliability.

For each web application investigated, one table exists, provided as a separate PDF file.
In each of these tables, the results are grouped by endpoint. For each investigated approach, we list the total number of submitted vectors, the number of injected vectors and the injection rate, the amount of executed vectors and the execution rate, and the total time required to submit the attack vectors and evaluate the responses.

Please note that no false positive endpoints are listed for WAVSEP. Furthermore, some entries for the execution rate may be displayed as 0.00 despite some vectors having been executed; this is merely a consequence of rounding.
