<p>The datas used for the paper of "Quantifying the effect of magnetic field line curvature scattering on the loss of ring current ions"</p> <p>The file contains three folders data_kp4, data_kp5, data_kp6 for the simulations under Kp index of 4,5 and 6 respectively. Each of them contains subfolders with name including _He_, _o_, and _proton_ for the species of proton, He+ and O+ respectively. Under these subfolders there are several subfolders for the simulations under different initial equatorial x-position at the midnight. Each of them contains folders with name of data appended with numbers. Under these folders there are three important files of ini_params.dat, fin_param.dat, tdrift.dat, screenoutput.txt.</p> <p><strong>init_params.dat </strong>contains ten numbers of: energy in MeV, equatorial pitch angle in degree, initial positions Lx, y, z, radius of curvature <span class="math-tex">\(R_{c}\)</span>, <span class="math-tex">\(\kappa\)</span>, <span class="math-tex">\(\zeta_{1}, \zeta_{2}, \eta\)</span>. The last four parameters are the kappa parameter and the parameters in Young et al. 2002 used for formulating empirical formula for the single field line curvature scattering.</p> <p><strong>fin_params.dat contains five colum data: </strong>particle tag number, status if the particle (0 stay until the end of the simulations, 1 lost to the inner boundary, 2 lost to the outer boundary, 3 stopped as trapped), time of loss in second or end of simulations if stayed until the end, number of mirrorings, <span class="math-tex">\(<\frac{(\frac{\delta \mu}{\mu})^2}{2 t}>\)</span></p> <p><strong>tdrif.dat</strong> contains two column data of : particle tag number and the time in second to complete the first full drift.</p> <p><strong>screenoutput.txt </strong>contains text information of the run</p>

Van Allen Probe A, Electric and Magnetic Field Instrument Suite and Integrated Science, EMFISIS, derived Density and other Parameters inferred by digitizing Traces on Spectrograms. The EMFISIS Waves Instrument provides a Measure of the Frequency of the Upper Hybrid Resonance Band thereby providing an accurate Determination of the Electron Density. The Electron Density is most easily and accurately measured by Means of Resonances and Cutoffs in the Wave Spectrum rather than Particle Detector Measurements which are subject to Spacecraft Charging and other complicating Factors.

MEX: MARSIS ELECTRON PLASMA DENSITY AND MAGNETIC FIELD DATA
This data set tabulates local electron densities and local magnetic field strengths magnetic field strengths obtained from Mars Advanced Radar for Subsurface and Ionosphere Sounding (MARSIS) Active Ionospheric Sounding (AIS) mode ionograms. The electron density is obtained by measuring the increment in frequency between the plasma frequency harmonics, visible as bright vertical lines at low frequency and delay time in many MARSIS ionograms. Similarly, the local magnetic field strength is found by measuring the difference in delay time between electron cyclotron echoes, visible as bright horizontal lines at low frequency on many ionograms. Both the measured quantity and the derived result are included in the archive product. We also include a data quality flag giving the impression of the archivist as to how reliable each result is. This archive product includes only data from the nominal mission, which starts about orbit 1850 and ends on orbit 2539.

Synoptic Charts of the Radial Component of the Photospheric Magnetic Field
Synoptic charts are maps of the entire Sun produced in Carrington coordinates. Synoptic maps are constructed by merging together solar observations taken over many days. Magnetic-field synoptic charts are produced using central meridian data from HMI full-disk magnetograms.Synoptic maps are constructed from HMI 720s line-of-sight Magnetograms collected over a 27-day solar rotation. Near-central-meridian data from 20 magnetograms contribute to each point in the final map.HMI 720s line-of-sight magnetograms are first converted to 'radial field magnetograms' by dividing by the cosine of the angle from disk center, i.e. for this purpose we assume that HMI measures the line-of-sight component of a purely radial magnetic field. Individual 'radial' magnetograms are then remapped and interpolated onto a very high-resolution Carrington coordinate grid. For each Carrington longitude the values from the 20 magnetograms obtained closest in time to the central meridian passage (CMP) of that longitude are averaged. By using a constant number of contributing magnetograms, the variation of the noise over the entire map is minimized. Generally all data are taken within about 2 degrees of CMP. The effective temporal width of the HMI synoptic map contribution is about three hours, i.e. 20 720-s magnetograms are obtained within about 90 minutes of central meridian passage. The final HMI synoptic maps have a size of 3600 x 1440, which means the resolution is lower than the disk-center resolution of a single HMI magnetogram. A two-dimensional Gaussian function is applied to high-resolution remapped data to reduce the spatial resolution before generating the 3600*1440 synoptic maps. The width of the Gaussian is 3 pixels. The upper limit of the noise is 2.3 Mx cm2.
