NOMO-3d-400-scans Dataset

Test historic coins 3D scanned
Test scan of several coins and tokens using the Artec Spider 3D scanner with 0.05mm resolution and 0.1mm accuracy. The details on the two bird lead tokens are very difficult to see with the naked eye, so applying shadows and shiny materials to the 3D scanned objects allows the design relief to become visible. Affinis Snyders Arrowhead (in-situ 3D scan!)
This is my first attempt at 3D scanning an artifact as found, using 29 photos (overhead grid pattern) in 3df zephyr free. It was right before sunset, so the lighting wasn't great, and that made the flaking pattern really hard to see in the model. However, the side that was facing down has some really impressive flaking! The right side is partially missing, as is the better part of the left ear... that makes it really hard to identify. The closest type I could find is Affinis Snyders. The material is a white flint, spattered with iron deposits. Oh... and in case you were wondering what the green stuff is, those were soybean plants. turns out zephyr couldn't do much with them (I'm not a great photographer), so it just pasted them over everything else. Rapa Nui statue scan with peel 3d
Ok, this is actually a garder reproduction on the famous easter island statue but peel 3d would work just as well on real stone. It is still pretty fantastic to see how fast ans easily you can capture the organic shape of a model like this! This would be a pretty cool thing to 3D print! EnderScope: A low-cost 3D printer based scanning microscope for microplastic detection
<p>The EnderScope is a novel, low-cost microscope for automated scanning and detection of microplastics in filtered seawater samples. This microscope is based on the mechanics of a low-cost 3D printer (Creality Ender 3). The hotend of the printer is replaced with an optics module, allowing for the reliable and calibrated motion system of the 3D printer to be used for automated scanning over a large area (>20x20 cm). </p> <p>Here we present the optical and mechanical validtion of the EnderScope. Along with data from some proof of concept experiments that show the EnderScope is capable of detecting plastics in environmental seawater samples.</p>
