Year 2012, 15 minute measurements of stage, water temperature in a small headwater stream draining a mainly wetland catchment (49% wetlands/swamp + 36% forest), Bear Meadow Brook, draining Cedar Swamp, Reading, MA.
Year 2012, continuous measurements, every 15 minutes, were made of stage and water temperature in a small headwater stream, Bear Meadow Brook , Cedar Swamp, Reading MA, draining a mainly wetland catchment (49% wetland + 36% wetland). Discharge is determined from stage using discharge vs stage regressions.
Year 2013, 15 minute measurements of stage, water temperature in a small headwater stream draining a mainly wetland catchment (49% wetlands/swamp + 36% forest), Bear Meadow Brook, draining Cedar Swamp, Reading, MA.

The Bear Brook Watershed in Maine, USA: Long-term atmospheric deposition chemistry 1987 - 2012
This dataset includes ambient atmospheric deposition data for the Bear Brook Watershed in Maine (BBWM). The BBWM consists of two watersheds, the reference East Bear (EB), receiving ambient deposition, and the treated West Bear (WB), which received experimental elevated N+S deposition for 27 years. Ambient wet deposition was collected from 1987 to 2012 using AeroChem collectors, and the measured precipitation chemistry was interpolated to calculate monthly and annual fluxes.
The Bear Brook Watershed in Maine, USA: Soil quantitative pit chemistry 1998 - 2010
This dataset includes soil chemistry data for the Bear Brook Watershed in Maine (BBWM). The BBWM consists of two watersheds, the reference East Bear (EB), receiving ambient deposition, and the treated West Bear (WB), which received experimental elevated N+S deposition for 27 years. Quantitative soil pits (71x71 cm) and mini-pits (30x30 cm) were dug at multiple times over the three decades of this experiment, and samples were analyzed for chemistry. Data are available both, as concentrations, as well as nutrient stocks for each watershed.
The Bear Brook Watershed in Maine, USA: Long-term stream chemistry 1986 - 2016
This dataset includes stream chemistry for the Bear Brook Watershed in Maine (BBWM). The BBWM consists of two watersheds, the reference East Bear (EB), receiving ambient deposition, and the treated West Bear (WB), which received experimental elevated N+S deposition for 27 years. Stream samples were collected as grab samples and event samples (e.g. during snowmelt and rain events) using ISCO™ automated samplers from both EB and WB streams. Stream chemistry was interpolated between collections to develop annual or monthly stream water fluxes.
The Bear Brook Watershed in Maine, USA: Long-term soil temperature 2001 - 2016
This dataset includes 15-year soil temperature records for the Bear Brook Watershed in Maine (BBWM). Onset HOBO™️ data loggers were installed in the hardwood as well as softwood stands of the two watersheds, and air and soil temperatures were recorded from 2001 to 2016. Soil temperature data are available for the organic horizon and for 10 and 25 cm depths in the mineral horizon, at a three-hour timestep.
Concentration of mercury in vegetation from Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest, NH; Sleepers Brook, VT; Bear Brook, ME; and Huntington Forest, NY
Quantifying mercury (Hg) in tree tissues is essential to understanding the pools and fluxes of Hg in forest ecosystems. We collected and analyzed foliage, bark and bole wood of eight tree species at four sites in the northeastern USA (Huntington Forest, NY; Sleepers River, VT; Hubbard Brook, NH; Bear Brook, ME).
