Data for ms. Do people really care less about their cats than about their dogs? A comparative study in three European countries
<p>The present dataset is based on a questionnaire which is also part of this package. The enclose questionnaire includes identifiable and relevant variables names (yellow highlighted).</p> <p>Participants were recruited by Norstat, a European-based survey company, with the aim of gaining a representative sample of Austrian, Danish and UK citizens, including pet owners. The survey company administers and hosts online panels comprising citizens from many European countries. We aimed for a sample that is representative in terms of age, gender, and region. Therefore, a stratified sampling principle was set up where individuals within each stratum were randomly invited to participate. The invitations were issued through e-mail that contained a link to the online questionnaire. Data was collected from 11-25<sup>th</sup> of March 2022 in Austria, from 11-24<sup>th</sup> of March 2022 in Denmark and from 8-23<sup>rd</sup> of March 2022 in the UK. The invitation provided information about the background of the study, the participating universities, ethical approval, estimated time for questionnaire completion and further, participants were informed that the completion of the questionnaire was voluntary and anonymous, and that they could exit the survey at any point. Before participants were directed to the survey, they ensured informed consent by confirming that they are over 17 years old, and consent to participate in this survey. </p> <p>Besides the questionnaire the dataset includes a csv and an Excel file consisting of the data that is used in the ms. and an rtf and a pdf file with data variable names/labels, and value labels.</p>
DATA and CARE model for the segmentation of bacterial nucleoids in SMLM data
<p>This dataset and CARE model is part of the publication "<strong>Transertion and cell geometry organize the <em>Escherichia coli</em> nucleoid during rapid growth</strong>".</p> <p>Data represents PAINT images of fixed <em>Escherichia coli </em>cells grown in LB Lennox to exponential phase. Cultures were treated with different antibiotics and fixed various treatment times (0 - 60 min).</p> <p>The strain (NO34) expresses a MreB<sup>sw</sup>-sfGFP fusion protein from the native chromosomal locus. It was a kind gift from Zemer Gitai (<a href="http://doi:10.1016/j.bpj.2016.07.017">Ouzounov et al., 2016</a>).</p> <p>The CARE 2D model was trained from scratch for 100 epochs (332 steps/epoch) on 736 paired image patches (image dimensions: (1024,1024), patch size: (256,256)) with a batch size of 4, an initial learning rate of 0.0004, 10% validation data and a laplace loss function, using the CARE 2D ZeroCostDL4Micnotebook. Data was augmented by a factor of two involving rotation and flipping and random zoom magnification.</p> <p>The model can currently not be used in CSBDeep Fiji plugin, but in the <a href="https://github.com/HenriquesLab/ZeroCostDL4Mic/wiki">ZeroCostDL4Mic platform</a>.</p> <p> </p>

<p>Data and supplementary material in support of article "Vlachos, E. and Tan, Z. H. (2020). Can robots express facial emotions dominantly enough for use in dementia care?, <em>International Psychogeriatrics</em>, Cambridge University Press". </p> <p>Our objective is to evaluate the recognition, and denomination of the six basic emotional facial expressions as displayed by a social robot to persons with dementia, and to compare it with the results from the evaluation of static photographs of humans from the Paul Ekman database in order to investigate the differences in recognition rates among the two stimuli.</p>

European Study on Risk Factors for Violence in Mental Disorder and Forensic Care: a multicentre project. The EU-Viormed Dataset
<p>The aims of this project, through a series of interlinked work packages, designed by researchers and practicing clinicians, and lead by an experienced management team, is to explore and map these differences, test new risk assessment tools and identify and share best practice where it exists. It aims are fourfold. Firstly to describe forensic psychiatry services as they exist today in 2017 across the European Union. Secondly to identify risk factors for violence in a unique international forensic sample and thirdly to test for the very first time in a related EU sample two contrasting methods of violence risk assessment. Finally it explored what works for these often marginalised patients, their families and their carers, at an operational, clinical and ethical level.<br> These aims were achieved through two studies designs:<br> Study 1: case-control retrospective design in which forensic patients with Schizophrenia<br> Spectrum Disorders (SSDs) who have a history of interpersonal violence and live in forensic<br> units will be compared to non-violent patients with SSDs living in the community.<br> Study 2: prospective cohort study, with 6 and 12 month follow-up, to test the predictive validity<br> of the leading structured professional clinical judgement guide for violence prediction, the<br> HCR-20v3, the Forensic Psychiatry and Violence Tool (FoVOx) and the Mental Illness and<br> Suicide Tool (OXMIS, https://oxrisk.com/)</p>

Evaluation of two 4th generation point-of-care assays for the detection of Human Immunodeficiency Virus infection.
<p>Background. Fourth generation assays detect simultaneously antibodies for HIV and the p24 antigen, identifying HIV infection earlier than previous generation tests. Previous studies have shown that the Alere Determine HIV-1/2 Combo has lower than anticipated performance in detecting antibodies for HIV and the p24 antigen. Furthermore, there are currently very few studies evaluating the performance of Standard Diagnostics BIOLINE HIV Ag/Ab Combo.</p> <p>Objective: To evaluate the performance of the Alere Determine HIV-1/2 Combo and the Standard Diagnostics BIOLINE HIV Ag/Ab Combo in a panel of frozen serum samples.</p> <p>Study Design: The testing panel included 133 previously frozen serum specimens from the UCLA Clinical Microbiology & Immunoserology laboratory. Reference testing included testing for HIV antibodies by a 3<sup>rd</sup> generation enzyme immunoassay followed by HIV RNA detection. Antibody negative and RNA positive sera were also tested by a laboratory 4<sup>th</sup> generation HIV Ab/Ag enzyme immunoassay.</p> <p>Results: Reference testing yielded 97 positives for HIV infection and 36 negative samples. Sensitivity of the Alere test was 95% (88-98%), while the SD Bioline sensitivity was 91% (83-96%). Both assays showed 100% (90-100%) specificity. No indeterminate or invalid results were recorded. Among 13 samples with acute infection (HIV RNA positive, HIV antibody negative), 12 were found positive by the first assay and 8 by the second. The antigen component of the Alere assay detected 10 acute samples, while the SD Bioline assay detected only one.</p> <p>Conclusions: Both rapid assays showed very good overall performance in detecting HIV infection in frozen serum samples, but further improvements are required to improve the performance in acute infection.</p>
