Porous tension-cup lysimeter depths and soil water chemistry from 9 Hillslope Project sites in Macon County, North Carolina, within the Upper Little Tennessee River Basin

Porous tension-cup lysimeters were installed at 9 sites throughout Macon County beginning in 2011. Sites represented a gradient of land use, including relatively undisturbed forests, valley bottomlands in agriculture, and mountain developments. Eighteen lysimeters were placed at each site - 9 were shallow lysimeters located in the A horizon and 9 were deep lysimeters located in the B horizon. Collections were made every other week and samples were composited monthly for chemistry. The depths of the lysimeters were noted.

Bamboo cup

We went to the Namahage Sedo Festival. One of them was my ex-lover. There were a lot of people at the site, and I was standing on a tree root to get a better view. At first, Namahaage came down from a little higher up the mountain to a square with a big bonfire. After the rituals were over, people took pictures with the Namahage and put on masks to become Namahage. We also drank sake from a bamboo container. After that, I went home without much incident. Source: Objaverse 1.0 / Sketchfab

Cup-marked stone, Tregiffian burial chamber, RCM

This cup-marked stone was moved from the site at Tregiffian for safe-keeping and display at the [Royal Cornwall Museum](https://www.royalcornwallmuseum.org.uk), Truro. There are potentially as many as 47 cup marks on this stone. Some of the larger 'jellybean' depressions appear to have started out as two separate cup marks which have been joined together. Slight depressions of the original cup marks can still be seen on some of them. Whether these represent re-working of existing cup marks, or were simply a method for creating the jellybean shape, is difficult to tell. A replica of this stone has been installed in the original location at Tregiffian burial chamber in West Penwith. [Explore Tregiffian burial chamber in 3D](https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/tregiffian-burial-chamber-cornwall-uk-1b6d39159c844ea5b24d869508fa3fd9) and discover more of its cup marks. *The project was funded by a British Academy/Leverhulme small research grant.* Source: Objaverse 1.0 / Sketchfab

Cloanlawyers 2 - Cup & Ring Marked Rock

This rock was Rock no.2 of Richard Bradley's excavations at Cloanlawers from 2007-2010. The ScRAP team uncovered this again last week for possibly only the second time. The markings are on a large schist oucrop, which lies at the 400 metre contour on a SE facing slope overlooking Loch Tay. The outcrop is shaped like a large sofa, with the most intricate carvings on the inside of the 'right arm and on the adjacent basin below at the left hand side and to the front of the 'seat'. These consist of a number of cup and multiple ring markings - some with circular rings, others with interconnected rings. Visible on the model are two striking cup marks surrounded by a figure-of-eight created by their rings. Another cup and multiple ring mark with a radial is prominent and the more you look, the more you see. Grid Ref. "Speaking" Cups

An imaginary synthesis of drinking vessels dating from the Mycenaean period to the 21st century BCE: -The Mycenaean stemmed bowl comes from the site of [Ialysus](https://pleiades.stoa.org/places/589815/?searchterm=Ialysus*) in Rhodes. -The small skyphos cup was found in the classical cemetery of [Kranioi](http://pleiades.stoa.org/places/530962/?searchterm=Kranioi) in Cephallonia. -The Black-figured "Eye cup" came from Athens. -The Black-figured attic skyphos is from unknown context, exhibited in the [Museo Archeologico di Aidone](http://www.regione.sicilia.it/beniculturali/deadimorgantina/museoaidone.html) in Italy. -The last cup could be from any place in the world. https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/mini-skyphos-cup-be34bb6cc10b47bdadaf1413204421bd https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/a-stemmed-bowl-de8ceaddccb74c279368c508ba1fecaf https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/attic-skyphos-930dcf46606a406285244be7a4c6e496 https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/kylix-drinking-cup-eye-cup-495e835bbb214120958dbcd730f48fb5 Source: Objaverse 1.0 / Sketchfab

Broughmore Wood 5 - Cup Marked Rock

An exposed an highly eroded surface bears traces of a handful of cup marks & courgette-shaped marks. A plan is now in the pipeline for a full excavation of the site, which it is hoped will shed more light on its chronology and, hopefully, reveal even of these more fascinating rock surfaces. Allt Coire Phadairlidh 5 - Cup & Ring Marked Sto

This very weathered stone lies on the 470 metre contour on a SE facing slope above Loch Tay beneath Meall Greigh just above the bank of a small burn & immediately adjacent to another cup & ring marked stone. It is made of schist and is extremely weathered due to exposed position. However, it may once have been intensively decorated with cup & ring marks. We counted 36 cup marks in the field, with 4 to 5 of these having rings but these are now very difficult to discern.
