Understanding in vivo Models of Depression: A Systematic Review - Records of Full Search

<p>This Zenodo record outlines the full list of journal articles retrieved from the search string as well as a a subset of articles that have been&nbsp;screened by two independent human reviews and reconciled by a third independent screener.&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>We carried out a search of 2&nbsp;online databases for studies reporting animal models of depression. This search, carried out in May&nbsp;2016, identified 70,365 unique publications (File:&nbsp;Depression-Dataset-SLIM-AllRecords.txt )</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Two independent investigators have, to date, screened 5749&nbsp;of these publications for inclusion or exclusion and these publications form the dataset for this study (File: Updated-training-data.txt&nbsp;&nbsp;).&nbsp;</p> <p>Several text-mining approaches will be developed for this depression literature search using the results from manual screening to train the machine, where machine-learning software set rules to automatically define each publication as included or excluded without the need for human screening.&nbsp;In this project, we seek to identify the best performing machine learning algorithm for this depression&nbsp;literature search. The prevalence and correlates of depression and anxiety symptoms among older adults in Shenzhen, China

<p><strong>Objectives: </strong>To investigate the prevalence of depression and anxiety symptoms among older adults in an urban district in China, as well as their associated factors.</p> <p><strong>Participants:</strong> A total of 5,372 community-dwelling older adults aged 65 years or older were initially recruited. Ultimately, 5,331 participants met the inclusion criteria and were included in this study.</p> <p><strong>Methods:</strong> Participants completed a sociodemographic questionnaire, along with assessments including the Patient Health Questionnaire-9, Generalized Anxiety Scale-7, UCLA Loneliness Simplification Scale, Insomnia Severity Index Scale, Community Dementia Brief Screening Scale, and the 8-item Dementia Screening Questionnaire. Statistical analyses included the Shapiro‒Wilk test, independent t-test, Wilcoxon rank test, c<sup>2</sup> test, and univariate and multivariate linear regression analysis.</p> <p><strong>Results:</strong> The prevalence of depression and anxiety symptoms among older adults in Shenzhen communities was 10.4% and 11.3%, respectively. In multivariate analysis, age (B=-0.01, <em>P</em>&lt;0.05), relatively poor health status in the past year (B=1.00, <em>P</em>&lt;0.01), poor health status in the past year (B=2.40, <em>P</em>&lt;0.01), ISI score (B=0.21, <em>P</em>&lt;0.01), AD8 score (B=0.22, <em>P</em>&lt;0.01), ULS score (B=0.24, <em>P</em>&lt;0.01) were significantly associated with the severity of depression symptom, Compared to their respective reference categories, relatively poor health status in the past year (B=0.50, <em>P</em>&lt;0.01), poor health status in the past year (B=1.32, <em>P</em>&lt;0.01), ISI score (B=0.23, <em>P</em>&lt;0.01), sleep duration (B=0.05, <em>P</em>&lt;0.01), AD8 score (B=0.21, <em>P</em>&lt;0.01), CSID score (B=0.13, <em>P</em>&lt;0.01), ULS score (B=0.22, <em>P</em>&lt;0.01) were significantly associated with the severity of anxiety symptom.</p> <p><strong>Conclusions: </strong>We observed a high prevalence of depression and anxiety symptoms among older adults in this study. The existing welfare system and infrastructure should remain and targeted mental health programs addressing the identified risk factors should be proposed.</p>

Whole-body physiology model to simulate respiratory depression of fentanyl and associated naloxone reversal

<p>Opioid use in the United States and abroad is an endemic part of society with yearly increases in overdose rates and deaths. As rates of overdose incidence increase, the use of the safe and effective reversal agent, naloxone, in the form of a nasal rescue spray is being fielded and used by emergency medical technicians (EMTs) at a greater and greater rate. Despite advances in the deployment of these rescue products, deaths are continuing to increase. There is evidence that repeated dosing of a naloxone nasal spray (such as Narcan) is becoming more common due to the amount and type of opiate being administered. Despite the benefits of naloxone related to opioid reversals, we lack repeated dosing guidelines as a function of opiates and the amount the patient has taken. Goal-directed rescue dosing, where respiratory markers such as oxygen saturation or end-tidal carbon dioxide, are being used as an indication of the patient's recovery. These rescue methods require time, training, and understanding by the EMT to administer with most patients receiving naloxone doses with no follow-up or additional monitoring. To measure repeat dosing guidelines, we construct a whole-body model of the pharmacokinetics and dynamics of an opiate, fentanyl on respiratory depression. We then construct a model of nasal deposition and administration of naloxone to investigate repeat dosing requirements for large overdose scenarios. We demonstrate that naloxone is highly effective at reversing the respiratory symptoms of the patient and recommend dosing requirements as a function of the fentanyl amount administered. By designing the model to include circulation and respiration we investigate physiological markers that may be used in goal-directed therapy rescue treatments.</p>

<p><strong>In the archive are the datasets and code used to create the results in article &quot;Application of Mass Multivariate Analysis on Neuroimaging Data Sets fo Precision Diagnosis of Depression&quot;. The methods is based on the Multivariate Linear toolbox mad F. Kherif&rsquo;s lab and available on GitHub. <a href="https://github.com/LREN-CHUV/MLM">https://github.com/LREN-CHUV/MLM</a>.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</strong></p> <p><strong>A total of 44 patients with a current psychotic (n=19) or depressive (n=25) episode were analyzed by MLM (details can be found in the article itself) utilizing resting sate fMRI, tasks fMRI, and anatomical T1w images.&nbsp;</strong></p> <p><strong>The data results are provided in MATLAB format, in a matrix called MLM.mat. The matrix includes the canonical variables for each of the three imaging modalities, chi-square statistics, and p-values for each brain region.&nbsp; Additionally, we provided a function MLM_plot_fun that allows mapping the statistics results to a canonical three-dimensional brain as per the article.&nbsp;</strong></p>

<p>The dataset comprises raw data from a case-control study that compared levels of depression, anxiety, and general psychological symptoms between parents of pediatric palliative care (PPC) patients and parents of healthy controls.</p> <p>Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI), and Symptom Checklist-90 Revised (SCL-90-R) were employed to provide a comprehensive and nuanced understanding of the mental health challenges faced by parents.</p> <p>The designation "case" in the first column (A) represents the parents of PPC patients, while the designation "control" represents the control group. &nbsp;The columns labeled B to S present demographic characteristics data, while columns T to AR present inventory scores.
