<p>Dataset of the publication &quot;On-demand indistinguishable and entangled photons at&nbsp;telecom frequencies using tailored cavity designs&quot; (<a href="http://https://doi.org/10.48550/arXiv.2303.13871">10.48550/arXiv.2303.13871</a>)</p> <p>Abstract:</p> <blockquote> <p>The biexciton-exciton emission cascade commonly used in quantum-dot systems to generate polarization entanglement yields photons with intrinsically limited indistinguishability.<br> In the present work we focus on the generation of pairs of photons with high degrees of polarization entanglement and simultaneously high indistinguishability. We achieve this goal by selectively reducing the biexciton lifetime with an optical resonator. We demonstrate that a suitably tailored circular Bragg reflector fulfills the requirements of sufficient selective Purcell enhancement of biexciton emission paired with spectrally broad photon extraction and two-fold degenerate optical modes. Our in-depth theoretical study combines (i) the optimization of realistic photonic structures solving Maxwell&#39;s equations from which model parameters are extracted as input for (ii) microscopic simulations of quantum-dot cavity excitation dynamics with full access to photon properties. We report non-trivial dependencies on system parameters and use the predictive power of our combined theoretical approach to determine the optimal range of Purcell enhancement that maximizes indistinguishability and entanglement to near unity values in the telecom C-band at 1550nm.</p> </blockquote>

On-demand entanglement of molecules in a reconfigurable optical tweezer array

<div> <div> <div> <div> <div> <div> <p>Entanglement is crucial to many quantum applications including quantum information processing, quantum simulation, and quantum-enhanced sens- ing. Because of their rich internal structure and interactions, molecules have been proposed as a promising platform for quantum science. Determinis- tic entanglement of individually controlled molecules has nevertheless been a long-standing experimental challenge. Here we demonstrate on-demand en- tanglement of individually prepared molecules. We deterministically create Bell pairs of molecules by using the electric dipolar interaction between polar molecules prepared using a reconfigurable array of optical tweezer traps. Our results demonstrate the key building blocks needed for quantum applications and may advance quantum-enhanced fundamental physics tests using trapped molecules.</p> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div>

Data from: Entangled fates of holobiont genomes during invasion: nested bacterial and host diversities in Caulerpa taxifolia

Successful prevention and mitigation of biological invasions requires retracing the initial steps of introduction, as well as understanding key elements enhancing the adaptability of invasive species. We studied the genetic diversity of the green alga Caulerpa taxifolia and its associated bacterial communities in several areas around the world. The striking congruence of α and ß diversity of the algal genome and endophytic communities reveals a tight association, supporting the holobiont concept as best describing the unit of spreading and invasion. Both genomic compartments support the hypotheses of a unique accidental introduction in the Mediterranean and of multiple invasion events in Southern Australia. In addition to helping with tracing the origin of invasion, bacterial communities exhibit metabolic functions that can potentially enhance adaptability and competitiveness of the consortium they form with their host. We thus hypothesize that low genetic diversities of both host and symbiont communities may contribute to the recent regression in the Mediterranean, in contrast with the persistence of highly diverse assemblages in southern Australia. This study supports the importance of scaling up from the host to the holobiont for a comprehensive understanding of invasions.

Data from: Photonic hybrid state entanglement swapping using cat state superpositions

<p>  We propose the use of hybrid entanglement in an entanglement swapping protocol, as means of distributing a Bell state with high fidelity to two parties, Alice and Bob. The hybrid entanglement used in this work is described as a discrete variable (Fock state) and a continuous variable (cat state superposition) entangled state. We model equal and unequal levels of photonic loss between the two propagating continuous variable modes, before detecting these states via a projective vacuum-one-photon measurement, and the other mode via balanced homodyne detection. We investigate homodyne measurement imperfections, and the associated success probability of the measurement schemes chosen in this protocol.<br>     We show that our entanglement swapping scheme is resilient to low levels of photonic losses, as well as low levels of averaged unequal losses between the two propagating modes, and show an improvement in this loss resilience over other hybrid entanglement schemes using coherent state superpositions as the propagating modes. Finally, we conclude that our protocol is suitable for potential quantum networking applications which require two nodes to share entanglement separated over a distance of 5-10 km when used with a suitable entanglement purification scheme.</p>

Room-temperature quantum coherence of entangled multiexcitons in a metal-organic framework

<p><span>Singlet fission (SF) can generate an exchange-coupled quintet triplet pair state</span><span> </span><sup><span>5</span></sup><span>TT, which could lead to the realization of quantum computing and quantum sensing using entangled multiple qubits even at room temperature. However, the observation of the quantum coherence of <sup>5</sup>TT has been limited to cryogenic temperatures, and the fundamental question is what kind of material design will enable its room-temperature quantum coherence. Here we show that the quantum coherence of SF-derived <sup>5</sup>TT in a chromophore-integrated metal-organic framework (MOF) can be over hundred nanoseconds at room temperature. The subtle motion of the chromophores in ordered domains within the MOF leads to the enough fluctuation of the exchange interaction necessary for <sup>5</sup>TT generation, but at the same time does not cause severe <sup>5</sup>TT decoherence. Furthermore, the phase and amplitude of quantum beating can be controlled by molecular motion, opening the way to room-temperature molecular quantum computing based on multiple quantum gate control.</span></p>

Tomography of entangling two-qubit logic operations in exchange-coupled donor electron spin qubits

<p>Scalable quantum processors require high-fidelity universal quantum logic operations in a manufacturable physical platform. Donors in silicon provide atomic size, excellent quantum coherence and compatibility with standard semiconductor processing, but no entanglement between donor-bound electron spins has been demonstrated to date. Here we present the experimental demonstration and tomography of universal 1- and 2-qubit gates in a system of two weakly exchange-coupled electrons, bound to single phosphorus donors introduced in silicon by ion implantation. We surprisingly observe that the exchange interaction has no effect on the qubit coherence. We quantify the fidelity of the quantum operations using gate set tomography (GST), and we use the universal gate set to create entangled Bell states of the electrons spins, with fidelity ≈ 93%, and concurrence 0.91 ± 0.08. These results form the necessary basis for scaling up donor-based quantum computers.</p>

<p>Data and analysis code for the paper entitled "Multimode ion-photon entanglement over 101 kilometers" which is to be published in PRX QUantum journal.&nbsp;</p> <p>Description of the content is provided in the README.txt. Analysis of the data was executed in matlab 2023b.<br><br>Abstract of the paper that results from this dataset:<br>"A three-qubit quantum network node based on trapped atomic ions is presented. The ability to<br>establish entanglement between each individual qubit in the node and a separate photon that has<br>travelled over a 101 km-long optical fiber is demonstrated. By sending those photons through the<br>fiber in close succession, a remote entanglement rate is achieved that is greater than when using<br>only a single qubit in the node. Once extended to more qubits, this multimode approach can be a<br>useful technique to boost entanglement distribution rates in future long-distance quantum networks<br>of light and matter."</p>

Here is the abstract of the article:</p> <blockquote> <p>The motion of a polymer chain within a hypothetical confining tube leads to arise a segmental order parameter. This parameter is assessed via multiple-quantum (MQ) NMR experiments. In both polymer networks and entangled melts, the order parameter is proportional to the inverse of the number of segments between two covalent crosslinks or physical entanglements. In entangled polymer networks, the entanglements have usually been considered as additional but temporary crosslinks and the contribution of the physical and chemical constraints are assumed additive. However, it was revealed by computer simulation results that this assumption is not valid for lowly crosslinked polymer networks; instead, the segmental order parameter was shown to scale with 1/&radic;(<em>N_</em>e <em>N</em>_c ), <em>N</em>_c and <em>N</em>_e being the number of segments between crosslinks and entanglements, respectively [M. Lang and J.-U. Sommer, <em>Phys. Rev. Lett</em>. <strong>2010</strong>, <em>104</em>, 177801]. An experimental confirmation remains elusive due to challenges in distinguishing the contributions of entanglements and crosslinks, as well as the long averaging timescales involved. In this study, we assess this correlation by examining chain dynamics in a monodisperse polyisoprene comb, utilized as a model system. To model chain dynamics in this system, the dynamic dilution model, originally designed for predicting the rheological behavior of star and branched polymers, has been modified to facilitate its application in the analysis of MQ NMR signals. We also address some of its shortcomings.</p> </blockquote>
