Sampling was conducted during the 1<sup>st</sup> quarter International Bottom Trawl Survey (IBTS) on board the Danish R/V DANA (DTU Aqua Denmark) and the Swedish R/V Svea (SLU Sweden), as part of the ichthyoplankton investigation during night-time. A total of 147 stations were investigated in the western, central and eastern North Sea as well as the Skagerrak and Kattegat. Sampling was conducted with a 13 m long &nbsp;Midwater Ring Net (MIK net, &Oslash; 2 m, mesh size 1.6 mm, cod end with smaller mesh size of 500 &micro;m), equipped with a flow meter. The MIK net was deployed in double oblique hauls from the surface to c. 5 m above the sea floor. Samples were visually analysed unpreserved on a light table and/or with a stereomicroscope or magnifying lamp within 2 hours after catch. A total of 13,610 individuals were counted/sized. Twelve gelatinous macrozooplankton species or genera were encountered, namely the hydrozoan <em>Aequorea vitrina</em>, <em>Aglantha digitale</em>, <em>Clytia</em> spp., <em>Leuckartiara octona,</em> <em>Tima bairdii, Muggiaea atlantica</em>; the scyphozoans <em>Cyanea</em> <em>capillata and Cyanea lamarckii</em> and the ctenophores <em>Beroe</em> spp., <em>Bolinopsis infundibulum</em>, <em>Mnemiopsis leidyi</em>, <em>Pleurobrachia pileus</em>. Abundance data are presented on a volume specific (m<sup>-3</sup>) and area specific (m<sup>-2</sup>) basis. Size data have been used to estimate wet weights based on published length-weight regressions (see reference column in the dataset). This dataset contributes baseline information about the gelatinous macrozooplankton diversity and its specific distribution pattern in the extended North Sea area during winter (January-February) 2021. These data can be an important contribution to address global change impacts on marine systems, especially considering gelatinous macrozooplankton abundance changes in relation to anthropogenic stressors.</p>

Count data of air-breathing fauna from visual transect surveys including water temperature, time, sea and weather conditions in Shark Bay Marine Park, Western Australia from February 2008 to July 2014

This dataset provides information on the relative abundances of air breathing fauna (dugongs, dolphins, sea snakes, marine birds, and sea turtles) in the study area of the Eastern Gulf of Shark Bay, Western Australia. The dataset comprises transects that quantify animal abundances in three microhabitats (shallow seagrass banks, seagrass bank edges, and deep sandy channels). These microhabitats vary in their food supply as well as their potential to facilitate or inhibit detection and escape from predators, mainly the tiger shark (Galeocerdo cuvier). As a result these data have been used to examine risk-specific habitat use behaviors of these fauna, in addition to general abundance estimates.

Multi-thousand-year simulations of December-February precipitation and zonal upper-level wind

<p>This dataset contains multi-thousand-year ensemble simulations of wintertime (December-February) precipitation total and average zonal winds at 250 hPa and 850 hPa. It includes data in a present-day scenario (2006-2015) and two future scenarios within which the world would be 1.5&deg;C and 2.0&deg;C warmer than pre-industrial conditions in 1850-1900. The simulations were run through the global model of the atmosphere and land surface HadAM4 (Williams et al., 2003) with a horizontal resolution of 5/6&deg;x5/9&deg; (approximately 60km in middle latitudes) and 38 vertical levels and a large ensemble. Following the HAPPI experiment design described by Mitchell et al. (2017), simulations were driven by prescribed fields of sea ice concentration, sea surface temperature, and atmospheric gas concentrations. The prescribed fields are observations for the present-day scenario. For future simulations, the prescribed fields were modified based on changes derived from CMIP5 multi-model means. The different realisations of the large ensemble were obtained through perturbing the initial conditions of each ensemble member on November 1st. For more details, see the description in Watson et al. (2020), who present the dataset, and in Bevacqua et al. (2021) where the dataset was used to study the spatial footprint of wintertime precipitation extremes.</p> <p><strong>IMPORTANT</strong>: Note that a small fraction of the ensemble members is repeated in the dataset. Duplicates should be identified (for example, via the function duplicated() in the R software) and removed prior to any analysis.&nbsp;</p>

Landslides from Space - Elk City, Idaho USA (18th February 2016)

<p>On 18th February 2016 an instable hillside collapsed and burried the State Highway 14 on a length of about 150 metres. Through this landslide residents of the remote village Elk City were trapped and the power supply was cut off.</p> <p>The pre-event acquisition is from 22nd September 2015 (Sentinel-2) and the post-event acquisition is from 28th June 2016 (Sentinel-2).<br> <br> <em>Contains modified Copernicus Sentinel data (2015-2016)</em></p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p>

Landslides from Space - Kakanj Mine Waste Landslide, Bosnia (24th February 2017)

<p>On February 24<sup>th</sup> 2017 a massive mine waste landslide from an open pit coal mine occurred. It had approximately the dimension of 600 metres in width and 800 metres in length. Through this slide the stream Ribnica was dammed up and created a small lake. Because of potential dam breach 150 people of two villages had to be evacuated downstream.<br> <br> The pre-event acquisition is from 14th February 2017 (Sentinel-2) and the post-event acquisition is from 16th March 2017 (Sentinel-2).<br> <br> <em>Contains modified Copernicus Sentinel data (2017)</em></p>

Data set: Average daily minimum temperature in January and February in Corsica

<p>Raster providing the average of the daily minimum temperature in Celsius degrees over January and February in Corsica from 1995 to 2003 with a 0.016667x0.0166671 resolution in latitude and longitude.</p> <p>Construction: This raster was constructed from the freely available database (PVGIS &copy; European Communities, 2001-2008) providing, in particular, monthly averages of the daily minimum temperature reconstructed over a grid with 1$\times$1km spatial resolution (Huld et al., 2006). Temperature Profiles from the Eastern Tropical Pacific (0-300m) from January-February 2023

<p>Vertical temperature profiles taken as part of a research expedition to Clipperton Atoll.&nbsp;Water column temperature profiles were measured down to 300m depth by deploying a&nbsp;<em>RBRduet<sup>3</sup> T.D.</em> sensor<sup> </sup>(Range -5&deg;C to 35&deg;C; Initial accuracy &plusmn;0.002&deg;C; Resolution &lt;0.00005&deg;C; time constant &lt;1s). Data (downcast and upcast) is averaged by depth into 1 meter bins, and the standard deviation and number of measurements in each bin are included as columns in the data.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>This data is supplemented locally for the shallow waters of Clipperton Atoll with 21 water column profiles measured using a Mares Puck Pro dive computer (Range: -10 &deg;C to +50 &deg;C; Resolution: 1&deg;C; Accuracy: &plusmn; 2 &deg;C) worn by one of the expedition divers.</p>

<p>Here you find the transcripts of interviews collected by Sabina Leonelli as part of the ERC project &quot;The Epistemology of Data-Intensive Science&quot;. You also find the information sheet provided to interviewees, which gives you the context for this project. Further information and related publications can be found at www.datastudies.eu. One paper that specifically makes use of these interviews was published by Sabina Leonelli in the journal Philosophy of Science in 2018, under the title &quot;Data in Time: Time-Scales of Data Use in the Life Sciences.&quot; The transcripts document yeast researchers&#39; attitudes to data curation and the use of databases in their field. Researchers have consented to have these transcripts made available as Open Data. Other interviewees did not give consent, so those transcripts are held securely by the research team in Exeter.</p>

High-frequency sensor data collected by Stroud Water Research Center in a meadow reach of White Clay Creek from February 2016 through December 2016

High-frequency sensor data from a YSI 600 OMS Optical Monitoring System (every 15 minutes) and Sontek IQ (every 10 minutes) in a meadow reach at White Clay Creek from February through December 2016. Funded by NSF and DEB as part of the LTREB grant to study the recovery of stream ecosystem structure and function during reforestation, Stroud Water Research Center. The parameters in this data package are water temperature, depth, turbidity, conductivity, specific conductance, water pressure, discharge, rivers ection area, and velocity. Data are presented in four tables which likely have significant overlap. The raw data table presents the data exactly as it was downloaded from the Aquarius Database. It is formatted as a "wide" human-readable table. IQ_stream and YSI_stream present only the data from the respective sensors. These tables are gapfilled so that there are no time gaps. Formatted as a "wide" human-readable table. The full_stream table is all of the data, raw and cleaned, from both sensors. It is organized as a long, tidy table and is optimal for machine readability. All of the parameters and table are further explained in the metadata.

Stream nutrient sampling during winter baseflow conditions in the Andrews Forest and Willamette River Basin, February 2009

To better understand the impact of land use on stream nutrient export, a synoptic sampling of streams draining 57 sub-basins within the Willamette River basin was conducted during winter baseflow conditions. The objective of the study was to assess how streamwater values of stream dissolved organic carbon (DOC), NO3- and Cl- and specific ultra-violet absorbance (SUVA) were related with the proportion of land in the watershed in urban areas, agriculture, and forest. Stream water samples were collected during baseflow conditions in February 2009 throughout the Willamette River basin, including the experimental watersheds (1,2,6,7,8,9,10), Lookout and Mack Creeks at the HJ Andrews Forest. Land use for each point-delineated watershed were determined from published values from the PNWERC dataset (http://www.fsl.orst.edu/pnwerc/wrb/access.html).

Inventory of soil prokaryotic and fungal microbiome (via 16S rRNA gene amplicons and ITS sequencing) from Shark River Slough and Taylor Slough, Everglades National Park (FCE LTER), Florida, USA, February 2019 - October 2020

Global sea-level rise is transforming coastal ecosystems, especially freshwater wetlands, in part due to increased saltwater exposure, leading to change in soil microbial communities and many important biogeochemical processes. Given the high spatial and temporal heterogeneity in coastal wetlands, especially in tropical or subtropical climates characterized by seasonal temperature, precipitation, and tidal fluctuations, it remains unclear which environmental factors influence the compositions of soil microbial communities in wetlands affected by varying degrees of sea-water intrusion. To address this, a two-year survey was conducted on microbial community structure in submerged surface soils from 14 wetland sites across the Florida Everglades, representing three major ecosystem types, i.e. freshwater marshes, mangrove forests, and seagrass meadows. Bulk surface soil samples of each site were collected from February 2019 to October 2020 to cover dry and wet seasons. In addition to bulk soil samples, soil cores were collected from each site in August 2020 to assess vertical gradients of microbial communities. The dataset contains amplicon sequencing data of 16S rRNA gene (both bulk soil and soil cores) and ITS gene (only the bulk soil). The 2019 to 2020 data are published in Zhao et al. 2023. A detailed list of sequence data and their accession numbers in GenBank is provided, and data collection is complete. Long-Term Slough Crayfish (Procambarus fallax) Densities in the Florida Everglades from Throw Trap Sampling, Florida, USA, February 1996-December 2016

Densities of slough crayfish (Procambarus fallax) were collected throughout the Florida Everglades using 1-m2 throw-trapping samples from 1996–2016. Data were collected in four distinct regions within the Everglades (Shark River Slough, Taylor Slough, Water Conservation Area 3A and 3B) and during five seasonal periods each year. Each region consists of a series of sites, and each site consists of 3–5 sampling plots. The plot scale defines the unique sampling unit in the study, and 5–7 replicate throws were conducted at each plot. Corresponding hydrologic data were collected in conjunction with crayfish observations. These data describe antecedent average water depths, along with the duration of previous wet and dry conditions. Antecedent conditions were calculated by using both in situ measurements, as well as model output from the Everglades Depth Estimation Network (EDEN). Additional hydrologic data are provided in the LD_0 dataset, which describes daily depths measurements at sampling plots, as well as the length of antecedent complete drying events (LD_0). The length of antecedent dry conditions is assessed in R script FCE1267_01_LD_Depths, while the crayfish modeling code is described in FCE1267_02_Modeling_Code.

February- March 2010 RTK survey of salt marsh plant ground elevations, plant characteristics and soil properties to support analysis of a LIDAR-derived DEM.

Real time kinematic (RTK) GPS survey of ground elevations for six plant species (Spartina alterniflora, Juncus roemerianus, Batis maritima, Distichlis spicata, Salicornia virginica and Borrichia frutescens) and two non-vegetated cover classes (salt pan and intertidal mud) was carried out from February to March 2010 to assess the accuracy of a LIDAR-derived digital elevation model. In total, 369 ground control points (GCP) were collected for the Duplin River (Sapelo Island) and Blackbeard Creek (Blackbeard Island) salt marshes with associated plant and soil charactistics (soil salinity and water content, soil organic matter, soil redox potential). Data were collected to examine the relationships between marsh soil elevation, plant habitat distribution and soil properties and to support the analysis of a a LIDAR-derived digital elevation model (DEM) and RTK data collect in 2009.

MCR LTER: Coral Reef: pH Time Series from Bottom-mounted SeaFET on the Fringing Reef, January-February 2011

Bottom-mounted instrumentation (SeaFET, Seabird thermistors) sampled for 6 weeks on the fringing reef of Moorea Island, French Polynesia at site LTER Fringe 1. Sampling began in January 2011. The instruments were secured to a cement piling at 3.3 meters depth and 0.7 meters above the sandy bottom. The SeaFET recorded voltages from a thermistor and pH electrodes at a 10-minute sampling interval. Discrete seawater samples were collected using a Niskin bottle during the deployment; pH, salinity, and total alkalinity of this sample were measured to calculate seawater pH (total scale) from raw SeaFET data as well as other carbonate chemistry parameters. The Seabird thermistors provided measures of seawater temperature at 10-minute sampling intervals. These data are published in Rivest, E.B. and G.E. Hofmann. 2014.
