Faunal remains data from Paleolithic to early Iron Age archaeological sites in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in China
<p>According to published archaeological sources, zooarchaeological data collection on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and its marginal and transitional areas is inadequate, and relevant datasets have not been published. For this reason, we collected and collated relevant information. Our database provides the geographical location, elevation, cultural type and faunal assemblage of each site on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and its periphery for which zooarchaeological data have been published from the Paleolithic to the Early Iron Age. The patterns of human faunal resource use, habitat patterns, and animal abundance and spatial distribution on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and its surrounding areas during the Prehistoric-Early Iron Age are represented in this dataset. The data provide a reference for further understanding prehistoric-early Iron Age human behavior, subsistence patterns and material and cultural exchanges between East and West on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and its environs.</p>

Stanwick Late Iron Age oppidum: planlauf/TERRAIN
2M DTM LIDAR model: Stanwick Late Iron Age oppidum, Iron Age and medieval settlement, early Christian church and sculpture and post-medieval emparkment. It was the trading and power-centre of the Brigantes. An enclosed oppidum is a nucleated settlement of the Late Iron Age, covering an area in excess of 10ha, whose boundaries are marked by large earthworks comprising a bank and outer ditch, which are generally taken to be of a defensive nature. They contain evidence for a variety of activities, suggesting that they were centres within which a range of economic, political, and religious services were concentrated. Many examples contain evidence for the development of zones within which particular activities (productive or ritual) appear to have been concentrated. Enclosed oppida have generally been dated from the late second/early first century BC and continued in use to the first century AD. Sovutinske Iron Age Hillfort — pit No. 2 / 2020
The pit discovered during the excavations of Sovitinske Iron Age Scythian Hillfort in 2020. The shape of a pit was reconstructed using SfM-photogrammetry (64 images) for further volume calculation. Wmid-afdaf7 - Iron Age to Roman Cosmetic mortar
An incomplete copper alloy cosmetic mortar, dating to Late Iron Age to the Early Roman dating (1st to 2nd Centuries AD). The mortar is formed from a curved piece of copper alloy. The mortar has a U shaped cross section. It has an incomplete suspension loop situated on the upper edge on the opposing side to the groove. The loop has blunt terminals with well developed patinas suggesting an old break. The loop would have had a circular perforation when complete. Presumably this would have once been in the centre. The mortar then tapers slightly out from the incomplete suspension loop at one side to a rounded terminal. The opposing length terminates in a blunt edge. The interior (grinding surface) is smooth.
