Asymmetric background tests were used to compare these distributions with the empirical estimate from the Northern population (black dashed line). The same procedure was carried out for the reciprocal comparison, Southern vs. Northern (C, D). In both cases, the empirical estimates significantly differed from the randomized distributions, suggesting the absence of niche overlap.
