Coronavirus prevalence in Brazilian Amazon and Sao Paulo city

SARS-CoV-2 spread rapidly in the Brazilian Amazon. Mortality was elevated, despite the young population, with the health services and cemeteries overwhelmed. The attack rate in this region is an estimate of the final epidemic size in an unmitigated epidemic. Here we show that by June, one month after the epidemic peak in Manaus, capital of the Amazonas state, 44% of the population had detectable IgG antibodies. This equates to a cumulative incidence of 52% after correcting for the false-negative rate of the test. Further correcting for the effect of antibody waning we estimate that the final attack rate was 66%. This is higher than seen in other settings, but lower than the predicted final size for an unmitigated epidemic in a homogeneously mixed population. This discrepancy may be accounted for by population structure as well as some limited physical distancing and non-pharmaceutical measures adopted in the city.

Observed and forecasted pollutant concentrations in the center of Sao Paulo

This dataset corresponds to the observed and forecasted pollutant concentrations analyzed in an article submitted to Earth's Future, which is entitled: Air quality forecasts with observation-based scaling of anthropogenic emissions for urban agglomerations.

The pollutants analyzed are carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), ozone (O3), sulfur dioxide (SO2) and particulate matter concentrations (PM2.5 and PM10).

Forecasted concentrations are presented for three regional simulations (F-REF, F-DAY and F-HOUR) and two flobal simulations (WACCM and CAMS) for the next day (day_p1 is d+1) and for the day after the next day (day_p2 is d+2).

The observed data are interpolated in the center of Sao Paulo, following the methodology presented in https://doi.org/10.1029/2022JD038179

Effectiveness of traps and attractants in mass capture of Hypothenemus hampei in Sao Tome Island

In this sense, we studied the bio-ecology of the CBB, in particular the presence of immature stages and adult of CBB during the development of the coffee berry, and to quantify population levels, as well as CBB infestation, natural enemies and penetration rates inside developing coffee berries in six coffee plantations of CECAFEB located in three regions (Districts) and one in the Centre of Technological and Agricultural Investigation of Sao Tome and Principe-Experimental Base of Industrial Crops (CIAT/STP-BECI). We also evaluate attractants in home-made traps baited for mass capture of the CBB in three coffee plantations of CECAFEB located in two regions (Districts).
