Multiple accessions of the same species have been omitted, except for S. dimidiatum. The cladogram is based on a strict consensus of 7,819 most parsimonious trees. Support values above the branches are given as maximum parsimony bootstrap %/ Bayesian posterior probability, and nodes with combined support values ≥ 90/0.95 are marked with a solid black circle. The arrows indicate the phylogenetic position of S. hieronymi and S. multispinum outside of the Carolinense clade in the combined DNA analysis.
