ADAPT Global Solar Magnetic Maps - 2010 Sep 18-20 (w/ & w/o farside active region input)

ADAPT (Air Force Data Assimilative Photospheric flux Transport) model global solar magnetic maps using HMI magnetograms with ("wfar") and without ("orig") estimated farside active region flux, for the 3 day period: September 18-20, 2010. The farside emergence of NOAA AR11109 (approximately on 18sep2010, based on STEREO observations of farside) is estimated by modeling the HMI vector observation on the east-limb (i.e., at a CMD of approximately -61.5 degrees) back ~6 days.

Dataset for "Comparative Analysis of Machine Learning Models to Forecast Flaring Capability of Solar Active Regions: A Parameter Based Approach"

This CSV file contains the values of 14 selected magnetic features along with the active region class for all the regions used in our study. As discussed in the paper, these 14 magnetic features characterize the properties of active regions. All these magnetic features are obtained from the HMI SHARP data series which provides open-sourced vector magnetic field information of solar active regions. the column named 'AR_class' carries information about the class of active regions i.e., 1 for flaring regions and 0 for non-flaring regions.

Direct evidence that twisted flux tube emergence creates solar active regions

This dataset is related to the paper "Direct evidence that twisted flux tube emergence creates solar active regions" in Nature Communications. There are three main elements:

1. Source data: data for all the observational helicity and winding accumulation figures.

2. Winding code: the code to download magnetograms and calculate helicity and winding fluxes.

3. Simulation code: the MHD code used for the example flux emergence simulation.

Instructions are included with the codes.

Photometric magnetic activity and active-region lifetimes of solar-like stars

Rotational modulation due to dark spots co-rotating with the stellar surface allows us to constrain rotation and magnetic properties of solar-like stars. The long-term observations collected by \kep\ (and those that will be collected by PLATO) are preferred for a better characterization of magnetic activity. In this work, we investigate the temporal variability of the photometric magnetic activity proxy Sph, as well as the characteristic timescale of active-regions in solar-like stars.
