Forests 2022, 13, 440. doi: 10.3390/f13030440.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Summary:</strong></p> <p>Global change is affecting species areal distribution in many regions. A better understanding of how land-use change and climate warming affects shrub growth is essential for improved predictions of forest dynamics at the alpine treeline. Evaluation of radial stem growth of the clonal shrub <em>Alnus alnobetula</em> (= <em>Alnus viridis</em>) and the co-occurring tree species Swiss stone pine (<em>Pinus cembra</em>) within an alpine treeline ecotone revealed that mean ring width of nitrogen fixing <em>A. alnobetula</em> was about four times lower compared to <em>P. cembra</em>. Our findings are based on ring width data from <em>A. alnobetula</em> and <em>P. cembra</em> stems sampled at the alpine treeline ecotone on Mt. Patscherkofel (47°12’N, 11°27’E, Central European Alps, Austria, elevation range 2050 to 2190 m asl). Ring width time series include 86 radii from 51 stems of <em>A. alnobetula</em> (stems had mean age of 18±7 yrs) and 24 radii from 16 stems of <em>P. cembra </em>(18±4 yrs). We explain our findings by different carbon allocation strategies, i.e., preference of “vertical” stem growth in late successional <em>P. cembra</em> vs. favoring “horizontal” spread in the pioneer shrub<em> A. alnobetula.</em> By favouring clonal propagation over individual stem growth <em>A. alnobetula</em> is able to quickly spread at the alpine treeline ecotone.</p>

This raises the question how biodiversity can be put on a path to recovery, the core challenge for the implementation of the CBD Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. We designed two ambitious global conservation strategies, 'Half Earth' (HE) and 'Sharing the Planet' (SP), and evaluated their ability to restore terrestrial and freshwater biodiversity and to provide nature's contributions to people (NCP), while also limiting global warming below 2 degrees and ensuring food security. We applied the integrated assessment framework IMAGE with the GLOBIO biodiversity model, using the 'Middle of the Road' Shared Socio-economic Pathway (SSP2) with its projected human population growth as baseline. We found that the HE strategy performs generally better for terrestrial biodiversity (biodiversity intactness (MSA), Area of Habitat, Living Planet Index, Red List Index) in currently still natural regions. The SP strategy yields more improvements for biodiversity in human-used areas, for freshwater biodiversity and for regulating NCP (pest control, pollination, erosion control, water quality). However, both strategies were insufficient to restore biodiversity and corresponded with considerable increases in food security risks and global temperature. Only when we combined the conservation strategies with a portfolio of 'integrated sustainability measures', including climate change mitigation and reductions of food waste and animal product consumption, our scenarios resulted in a restoration of biodiversity and NCP while keeping global warming below two degrees and food security risks below the baseline projection.</p><p><strong>Contents:</strong> This repository contains the supplementary spatial data describing the specific prioritization of conservation areas under the Half Earth (HE) and Sharing the Planet (SP) scenarios, and the resulting scenario land use and MSA data sets for the year 2050, including also a baseline (BL) scenario. All spatial data is in geotiff format at a 10 arcsecond resolution in WGS84 coordinate system. "Talking Stick" and Other Verbal Turn-taking Strategies
<p>The following data’ adapted and reconstructed because I see conventional strategies in teaching foreign languages to non-native speakers, can still be effective and efficient as long as the accuracy of the use of the teaching focus is measured. The inspiration for collecting this data, I accidentally saw one of the published scientific articles on literacy, which uses the TS (talking stick) technique to improve communication skills while strengthening the ability to remember, understand, and practice vocabulary in communication using English. Therefore data was converted to voice data which does not detract from the main point of the second scientific source' while the strategy explained can be found below the section, then the audio format is displayed in mp3 formats separately.</p>

The <strong>01.3_PRIMER PRISMA_INCLUDED.xlsx</strong> file contains results after further screening, retaining 82 documents with expanded bibliometric details. The <strong>02.1_SEGUNDOPRISMA_IDENTIFICATION.xlsx</strong> file documents the second phase of identification using new terms related to climate and disinformation, retrieving 174 records. <p>The dataset has been created from obtaining answers from 303 participants of four different countries in the EU (the questionnaire can be studied in <strong>GreenSoul_Questionnaire.pdf</strong>). It is composed by several factors which are explained in different TXT files. All these factors are contained in a "<strong>all_code_final_zenodo.xlsx</strong>" along with their answers by participants. PERCEIVE: WP3: Effectiveness of communication strategies of EU projects
<p>This data set contains all the relevant data referred to PERCEIVE WP3, as tasks within WP3 are logically connected. Data analyzed within WP3, but collected in WP5, are included in the data set “<em>PERCEIVE: WP5: The multiplicity of shared meanings of EU and Cohesion Regional and Urban Policy at different discursive levels</em>” (<a href="http://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.1038041">http://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.1038041</a>). Data analyzed in Task3.1 are mostly based on transcripts already included in the data set “<em>PERCEIVE. WP1. Framework for comparative analysis of the perception of Cohesion Policy and identification with the European Union at citizen level in different European countries. Task1.2. Focus group with Cohesion Policy practitioners</em>” (focus groups and other interviews).</p> <p>Task3.2 data are the results of a European wide online survey (at the moment this document is being compiled, the website of the survey is no longer online) targeting policy communicators and focused on three strategic aspects of communicating policy: a) factors of success and barriers, b) support from central institutions and c) communication mix and storytelling.</p> <p>Task3.3 data regard the analysis of social media communication from EU communication offices at both local and European level. Qualitative dataset - Social justice-oriented narratives in European urban food strategies: Bringing forward redistribution, recognition and representation (Smaal et al., 2021)
<p>This qualitative dataset contains the English translations of the plain texts of the urban food strategy documents or webpages of 16 European medium-sized cities: Basel [CH]; Bristol [UK]; Bruges [BE]; Cordoba [ES]; Donostia - San Sebastián [ES]; Ede [NL]; Geneva [CH]; Ghent [BE]; Grenoble [FR]; Groningen [NL]; Montpellier [FR]; Nantes [FR]; Rennes [FR]; Tours [FR]; Uppsala [SE]; and Vitoria-Gasteiz [ES]. The search for and translation of the urban food strategy documents and webpages have been performed in early 2019. The files have been analysed in NVivo (qualitative data analysis software). An emerging theme shaping these food policy endeavours, especially prominent in North and South America, concerns the enhancement of social justice within food systems. To operationalise this theme in a European urban food governance context we adopt Nancy Fraser’s three-dimensional theory of justice: economic redistribution, cultural recognition and political representation. In this paper, we discuss the findings of an exploratory document analysis of the social justice-oriented ambitions, motivations, current practices and policy trajectories articulated in sixteen European UFSs. We reflect on the food-related resource allocations, value patterns and decision rules these cities propose to alter and the target groups they propose to support, empower or include. Overall, we find that UFSs make little explicit reference to social justice and justice-oriented food concepts, such as food security, food justice, food democracy and food sovereignty. Nevertheless, the identified resources, services and target groups indicate that the three dimensions of Fraser are at the heart of many of the measures described. We argue that implicit, fragmentary and unspecified adoption of social justice in European UFSs is problematic, as it may hold back public consciousness, debate and collective action regarding food system inequalities and may be easily disregarded in policy budgeting, implementation and evaluation trajectories.
