EnergyPROSPECTS Energy Citizenship Factsheet Series, Part 9: Aspects of ENCI V.: Contesting the current system
<p>This document is Part 9 of the EnergyPROSPECTS Factsheet Series. We have created the Series to publish the results of a mapping of energy citizenship in Europe, along with the first stage of our analysis of the respective data. The EnergyPROSPECTS consortium mapped 596 cases of energy citizenship (ENCI) between November 2020 and May 2021 using desk research, collecting data on many aspects of the cases. Although the analysis is a work in progress, we believe it is important to share our data and, through doing this, contribute to the understanding of energy citizenship in Europe.</p> <p>EnergyPROSPECTS (PROactive Strategies and Policies for Energy Citizenship Transformation), a H2020 project between 2021-2024, works with a critical understanding of energy citizenship that is grounded in state-of-the-art social sciences and humanities (SSH) insights.</p>
Reevaluated P-V-T Dataset for (Mg,Fe)SiO3 post-Perovskite
<p>This is a collection of pressure, volume, and temperature data for (Mg,Fe)SiO3 post-perovskite collected in laser-heated diamond anvil cells. The volumes and temperatures are collected from previous studies, and the pressures are reevaluated according to the internally consistent pressure scale of Dorogokupets and Dewaele (2007). A Monte Carlo sampling routine was used to propagate uncertainty from the measured volumes and temperatures, as well as uncertainties in the pressure scale parameters, to the final pressure uncertainties.</p>
Nitrogen cycling at treeline V. Insitu Nitrogen mineralization
To assess spatial and seasonal patterns of pools and fluxes of dissolved inorganic- N (DIN), amino acid- N (AAN) and microbial biomass N (MBN), we conducted in situ soil incubations at four time periods during May 2001 - May 2002: spring thaw, peak growing season, fall senescence and over-winter. The goal was to be consistent in sampling each of these time periods within each mountain range, which was possible due to the 3-4 week lag in phenology (e.g. budbreak or initiation of senescence) between the southernmost and northernmost sites. Sites were sampled in order from south to north. During the spring 2002 sampling period, soils in the Brooks Range thawed prior to those in the White Mts. and the sampling sequence was adjusted to accommodate this. Within each treeline or forested sub-site, a 50 m transect was established parallel with the slope contour of the mountain. Six points were randomly selected along each transect, and soils were sampled near these points for the entire year. Rates of net DIN mineralization and net AAN production were measured using an in situ buried bag technique (Robertson et al., 1999). We used a 6.7 cm diameter steel corer fitted with a perforated, plastic sleeve to collect paired adjacent soil cores, and sampled below the live moss and detritus layers to a depth of 20 cm. The function of the perforated sleeve was to maintain structural integrity of the soil core during sampling. The perforated sleeve containing the intact core was then placed in a 1 mil breathable polyethylene bag followed by a fine mesh bag, gently returned to the original location, covered with litter and left to incubate. Incubation length was 4 weeks for the spring, growing season, and senescence sampling periods, and from September 2001 to early June 2002 for the over-winter sampling period. The second core in each pair was stored on ice and transported to the laboratory in Fairbanks. Soils were rocky at some sites and sampling to 20 cm was not possible; for these
Alaskan Peatland Experiment: Community structure and productivity data for 2007-2010 V - Moss NPP
This dataset contains net primary productivity (NPP, g/m2/yr) for sphagnum, feather moss, brown moss and dicranum moss types estimated for 2009 and 2010 at both bog and fen sites of the Alaskan peatland experiment. Within the fen site a water table manipulation has been ongiong since 2005, with control, lowered and raised water table treatment plots. Samples at the bog were collected in a plot established within the lowland black spruce permafrost plateau (permafrost), and two plots established within collapse scars embedded within the plateau. One collapse scar formed ~ 45 years ago (old collapse) and the other formed ~ 25 years ago based upon aerial photography provided by the BCEF LTER. The data provided in this data set can be sorted by site and plot.
Effects of permafrost thaw on nitrogen availability and plant-soil interactions in a boreal Alaskan lowland: V - Isotape Data 2013
This dataset examines shifts in foliar del N 15 concentations for three plant species found across a lowland boreal permafrost thaw chronosequence. Data was collected in 2013 at the APEX Beta and forested study plots, located adjacent to the BNZ experimental forest.
Post-fire Variability in Siberian Alder in Interior Alaska: Distribution Patterns, Nitrogen Fixation Rates, and Ecosystem Consequences V - Releve 2015
This data set was collected as a part of Brian Houseman's MS Thesis, Post-fire Variability in Siberian Alder in Interior Alaska: Distribution Patterns, Nitrogen Fixation Rates, and Ecosystem Consequences (December 2017). Data include releve plant cover estimates (2015). Data were collected on study plots established across two burn scars (2004 Boundary Fire and 1971 Wickersham Dome Fire) within the Yukon-Tanana Uplands ecoregion of interior Alaska.
