Mojácar la Vieja - Boca y cuello de jarra
Pieza cerámica encontrada dentro de una vivienda islámica en el yacimiento de Mojácar la Vieja. Se trata de la boca, el cuello y el inicio del hombro de una gran jarra con dos asas. Este tipo de jarras se utilizaban en las casas medievales para almacenar el agua potable. Presenta una decoración pintada en manganeso aplicada con pincel. Videos of lava flows on 16th November 2021 at the South Delta of the 2021 Cumbre Vieja eruption (La Palma, Canary Islands).
<p>Videos of field observations made on 16th November 2021 at 15:00 UTC from a point (UTM coordinates 28-R, 213992, 3167808 ) on the coastline of the South lava delta formed during the 2021 eruption of Cumbre Vieja volcanic rift at La Palma (Canary Islands).</p> <p>Video 1 shows a high-mobility lava flowed down the marine cliff over a well-developed ramp.</p> <p>Video 2 shows the ocean entrance of the lava flow, accompanied by the formation of a large gas plume in which vertical steam jets containing dark particulate matter. These jets, up to 10 m high, included lava fragments of diameter >10 cm that were projected to a maximum of 10–15 m away, following ballistic trajectories until falling into the sea and often leaving traces of white steam behind them. </p>

Mojácar la Vieja - Reposa tinajas
Nos encontramos con un reposa-tinajas fechado entre el siglo XII y XIII, un instrumento usado para servir de apoyo a otros recipientes, como jarras/os o, como su nombre indica, tinajas. Estos recipientes estarían repletos de agua, parte de ella se filtraría por sus poros y acabarían "sudando", como hacen nuestros botijos en la actualidad. El agua que chorrea de los recipientes acaba cayendo sobre el reposa-tinajas, donde sería canalizada por el pitorro que conserva, vertiéndose en otro pequeño recipiente como una jarrita o jarrito, desde el que se serviría agua fresca. Medieval graffiti from Calatrava la Vieja, Castilla-La Mancha, Spain. Islamic almohad period (1195-1212 CE). They were discovered in 1984, during the ecavation works carried out under the direction of the architect Miguel Fisac. They are located in the western wall of the alcázar, and were made with a sharp object in the south face of the southern tower.They represent six and eight-pointed stars and names of people written in arabic. Mercury Amalgam Trough, Calatrava la Vieja-Spain
Mercury-based amalgam trough from Calatrava la Vieja, Castilla-La Mancha, Spain. Christian period, 12th-13th centuries. It was found in the 2005 excavations in the central area of the alcázar. It is complete, although broken from ancient times into several fragments. It was made from a single block of basalt. Originally, it could have been made as a sarcophagus for the burial of some outstanding person of the Military Order of Calatrava. Later it was used to work with liquid mercury. In fact, it was exposed to the direct action of fire, and provides abnormally high mercury impregnation rates in XFR analysis. In a first approximation, traces of copper and tin have also been detected, which seems to confirm its relationship with the artisan processes of production of gold-plated metallic pieces. Stamped Jar Fragment, Calatrava la Vieja, Esp.
Stamped jar fragment from Calatrava la Vieja, Castilla-La Mancha, Spain. Islamic almohad period (1195-1212 CE). This artifact was found in the 2009 excavations in the south-east sector of the medina, next to the western wall of the alcázar. The jar ("yabiya" in arabic) was the most common container for the storage and transport of liquids and solids during the andalusian period in the Iberian Peninsula. To its utilitarian function, it added a decorative value, particularly since the 12th century, when this kind of pieces were profusely decorated with printed stamps with epigraphic, geometric or plant motifs. Stamped jar fragment from Calatrava la Vieja, Castilla-La Mancha, Spain. Islamic almohad period (1195-1212 CE). This artifact was found in the 2008 excavations in the south-east sector of the medina, next to the western wall of the alcázar.
