Reprocessing script and data for the Bilzingsleben antlers dataset to visualise it with the archeoViz web application

<p>This files were created to be used for visualisation with the <a href="https://analytics.huma-num.fr/archeoviz/bilzingsleben"><em>archeoViz</em> application</a>.</p> <p>This record includes:</p> <ul> <li>Reprocessed data from: Vollbrecht, J&uuml;rgen. 2000. &ldquo;The antler finds at Bilzingsleben, excavations 1969-1993&rdquo;, <em>Internet Archaeology</em>, 8. DOI: <a href="https://doi.org/10.11141/ia.8.1">10.11141/ia.8.1</a></li> <li>and an R script with the code used to the reprocess this dataset.</li> </ul> <p>In the resulting files,</p> <ul> <li><strong>bilzingsleben-data.csv</strong>: partialy reprocessed Vollbrecht&#39;s data.</li> <li><strong>bilzingsleben.csv</strong>: output file of the reprocessing: the objects (antlers) are associated with the ranges of coordinates of the square they were found, links to their record in Vollbrecht&#39;s database are included.</li> <li><strong>bilzingsleben-refits.csv</strong>: refitting data are reformated in a convenient format.</li> <li><strong>bilzingsleben-timeline.csv</strong>: the year the squares were excavated were deduced using Vollbrecht 2000 and recoded. This made it possible to generate:</li> <li><strong>bilzingsleben-timeline-map.jpg</strong>: a map of the site giving the year the squares were excavated and the labels arbitrary attributed for the <em>archeoViz</em> visualisation.</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p>

NFDI4Culture statistics and visualisations for the period 10/2020–09/2023

<p>FAIR data and reproducible results are important objectives of NFDI4Culture. This data publication contains a set of statistics, data, and visualisations of key aspects of the consortium for the period 10/2020 to 09/2023. These findings are a result of the work on the progress report that NFDI4Culture submitted to the German Research Foundation (DFG) in September 2023. In terms of utility for our partners and communities, these visualisations and data sets possess a broader significance beyond the report. The affiliation network of the Radical Open Access Collective visualised

<p>This figure depicts the affiliation network of the Radical Open Access Collective (https://radicaloa.postdigitalcultures.org/), which is an international community of scholar-led publishing initiatives. It was formed in 2015 and the data collection via web-based research took place in the period from April 2021 until April 2022. The visualisation process was developed interatively throughout a qualitatively driven mixed methods research on scholar-led publishing initiatives. As part of 23 qualitative expert interviews, network elicitation was embedded as a method of mixed methods social network analysis. Several iterations of the network map were created with the software MindManager 2020. An edited version of the network graph was published in the Journal of Scholarly Publishing (Schimmel, 2023).</p>

The repository is strcutured based on figures reported in the manuscript. Each figure has a folder as per its name that includes: 1) R code to plot figure 2) source data files and 3) one PNG and one PDF version of the figure.&nbsp;</p> <p>Please note: i) "dependencies.R" specifies all package information and dependencies in which the simulation, analysis scripts and plotting scripts are tested and stable.&nbsp;<br>ii) The R scripts rely on the folder structure and working directories used by the researchers. To replicate figures, you will need to adjust the file paths.</p>

Arctic PASSION Online Seminar on "Visualising permafrost landscape change: A new service from the EU Arctic PASSION project"

<p><strong>16 May 2024 at 11 AM GMT</strong></p> <p><strong></strong>In this online seminar, Arctic PASSION is introducing its pan-Arctic requirements-driven Permafrost Service. The Permafrost Service is based on remote sensing analyses, and detection and mapping of permafrost disturbances at high spatial resolution across large regions. The data helps to quantify landscape change, hydrological dynamics and permafrost vulnerability. In order to make the scientific findings easily accessible, we designed a tailored web-based portal specifically targeting non-scientific user communities, stakeholders and rightsholders.
