Air temperature, relative humidity, soil temperatures and soil moisture for Arctic Long Term Experimental Research (ARC LTER) heath experimental plots, Toolik Field Station, North Slope Alaska for 2001-2024-09-22.

Air temperature and relative humidity at 3 meters, soil temperatures at 2 depths, 5 and 10 cm, canopy temperatures and soil moisture at 10 cm were measured in an Arctic Long Term Experimental Research (ARC-LTER) heath tundra site (DHT89) at Toolik Lake Field Station, North slope, Alaska. Only control and nutrient addition (nitrogen plus phosphorus ) treatments plots soils were measured. Note: In version 1 the moisture columns were mixed up. The fractional volumetric water columns were actually the period frequency of the wave of the sensor (Campbell Scientific CS616). Version 3 adds calculated percent moisture corrected for organic soil.

Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest: 15-Minute Air Temperature Record, 2014 - present

Air temperature is measured at 15-minute intervals in six clearings throughout the Hubbard Brook experimental watersheds and at the Headquarters Station. Beginning in 2014, digital sensors housed in aspirated solar radiation shields collected air temperature measurements. These data are gathered at the Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest in Woodstock, NH, which is operated and maintained by the USDA Forest Service, Northern Research Station.

Infilled daily air temperature data for C1 chart recorder, 1952 - ongoing.

Daily minimum and maximum surface air temperature data have been collected at the C1 climate station (3022 m asl) almost continuously from 1952 to the present. C1 is on locally level terrain on the southeastern flank of Niwot Ridge, 9.7 km east of the Continental Divide. Surrounding vegetation is generally closed-canopy subalpine conifer forest. Temperature minima and maxima were measured with a chart-recording hygrothermograph housed in a Stevenson screen located in an open, sparsely treed area adjacent to the forest proper. Hygrothermograph records were calibrated at the time of chart changes against liquid-in-glass thermometers. Processing included quality checks and infilling of missing daily data (see Methods).

Hygrothermograph records were calibrated at the time of chart changes against liquid-in-glass thermometers. Processing included quality checks and infilling of missing daily data (see Methods).

Air temperature data for Saddle chart recorder, 1981 - 2017.

Air temperature data were collected on a daily time-scale from the Saddle climate station (3525 m) since 1981. Over time, various circumstances have led to days with missing values. Some of these values were estimated from redundant sensors and nearby climate stations. Greenland 1987 was a basis for the methodology; however when it was not possible to use this methodology, new methods were developed.

Battery-less Environment Sensor Using Thermoelectric Energy Harvesting From Soil-Ambient Air Temperature Differences

<p>The data set contains the data collected from experiments sites in Belgium ( Campus Drie Eiken, University of Antwerp, 51.161&deg; N, 4.408&deg; W) and Iceland ( Forhot, 64.008&deg; N, 21.178&deg; W) for the research and evaluation of a battery-less environment sensor powered by energy harvesting. The device uses the temperature difference between soil and air to produce energy with the help of a Thermoelectric Generator (TEG) and powers a wireless sensor node. The data set includes data collected from 2 phases of the study. One during the initial evaluation phase where we collected soil temperatures at 15 cm and air temperature to evaluate the possibilities of producing energy from the temperature differences. Using these data, we estimated the energy production capacity for both sites. Further, a proof-of-concept device was developed, and its performance was evaluated with field experiments. During this process, we collected the voltage level of the storage unit, i.e,&nbsp;&nbsp;the capacitor, air and soil temperatures and the TEG output voltage. During both phases, the same methods were employed to collect data. The voltage values were measured with a 12-bit ADC and the temperature was measured with 1-Wire temperature sensor. <p>SPHERA (High Resolution REAnalysis over Italy) &nbsp;is a convection-permitting regional reanalysis developed by ARPAE-Emilia Romagna and publicly available. The SPHERA domain covers Italy and the surrounding seas with a horizontal resolution of 2.2km. The temporal coverage corresponds to the period 1995-2020 and the dataset is available at hourly frequency. SPHERA reanalysis was developed using the Numerical Weather Prediction model COSMO (www.cosmo-model.org) nested in the global reanalysis ERA5 produced by ECMWF. Moreover, upper-air and surface observations were assimilated at the convection-permitting scale by the COSMO nudging scheme.</p> <p>This record reports the hourly surface air temperature at 2-meter height for the period 2013-2020. Near-surface, soil, and air temperature data acquired across multiple locations in the foothills of the Tehachapi mountains at Tejon Ranch, California, 2011-2017

These temperature records were collected as part of a larger study relating microclimates to tree seedling survival in southern California mountains. These temperature records are for studies in the foothills of the Tehachapi mountains at Tejon Ranch (Lat 34.983, Long -118.716, elevation 750-930 m, www.tejonranch.com). Temperature sensors were located at 23 sites across the Tehachapi foothills. Sites were selected to sample topographic variation in surface and air temperatures within a narrow range of elevations on northeast to southwest-facing slopes, ridges and valleys. To characterize surface temperature variation within a site, 21 sensors were arranged in an identical pattern around and in six, 5x5 m experimental gardens. An additional 18 sensors were placed along three transects over the landscape running N-S. They were placed strategically to sample topographic inflection points (hill tops and valley bottoms) as well as north and south facing slopes. Temperatures were recorded on a 10 or 20-minute interval, depending on the sensor. using HOBO (Onset, www.onsetcomp.com) devices.

These temperature records were collected as part of a larger study relating microclimates to tree seedling survival in southern California mountains. These temperature records are for studies at the Teakettle Experimental Forest (Lat 36.967, Long -119.017, elevation 2000-2800 m, www.fs.fed.us/psw/ef/teakettle/). Temperature sensors were located at 44 sites across the landscape. Sites were selected to sample topographic variation in surface and air temperatures within a narrow range of elevations on northeast to southwest-facing slopes, ridges and valleys. To characterize surface temperature variation within select sites, 21 sensors were arranged in an identical pattern around and in six, 5x5 m experimental gardens (see garden schematic for details). An additional 33 sites were located across the site by way of a stratified sampling scheme which targeted low, medium, and high elevation areas, low, medium, and high radiation areas, and cold air pooling areas. In June 2012, in order to concentrate sensors in a smaller study area (ease of access and to make this more similar to other sites, 22 sites were "retired," and 7 new sites were installed, for a total of 18 during the remainder of the study. Temperatures were recorded on a 10 or 20-minute interval, depending on the sensor. using HOBO (Onset, www.onsetcomp.com) devices.
