Investigation on anodes from anode supported cells manufactured by Solidpower and aged by IEES-BAS with electrochemical characterization.

<p>samples are mounted in epoxy-resin and polished up to 250nm using diamond paste on specific tissue (MD-NAP, Struers). Observation by SEM (ZEISS EVO 40) using backscattered electrons as the contrast method. Chemical analysis performed using EDS after calibration with Co standard and using ZAF algorithm correction. The standard magnification is 5000. The pictures are further threated using ImageJ software for quantitative image analysis. Porosity and Nickel particles are highlighted by using Coreldraw software image enhancements.</p>

Reduced isometric knee extensor force following anodal transcranial direct current stimulation of the ipsilateral motor cortex

<p>Background: The goal of this study was to determine if 10-min of anodal transcranial direct current stimulation (a-tDCS) to the motor cortex (M1) is capable of modulating quadriceps isometric maximal voluntary contraction (MVC) force or fatigue endurance contralateral or ipsilateral to the stimulation site.</p> <p>Results: The main finding of this study was a significant interaction effect for stimulation condition x leg tested x time [F(1,60) =7.156, p = 0.010, ηp2 = 0.11] which revealed  significant absolute KE MVC force impairments in the contralateral leg following s-tDCS (p &lt; 0.001, d =1.2) and in the ipsilateral leg following a-tDCS (p &lt; 0.001, d = 1.09). A significant interaction effect for condition x leg tested [F(1,56) = 8.12, p = 0.006, ηp2 = 0.13], showed a significantly lower left quadriceps (ipsilateral to tDCS) relative MVC force with a-tDCS, versus s-tDCS [t(15) = -3.07, p = 0.016, d = -0.77]. There was no significant difference between the relative right quadriceps (contralateral to tDCS) MVC force for a-tDCS and s-tDCS. Although, there was an overall significant [F(1,56) = 8.36, p &lt; 0.001] 12.1% force decrease between the first and twelfth MVC repetitions, there were no significant main or interaction effects for fatigue index force.</p> <p>Conclusion: Hence, a-tDCS may be ineffective at increasing maximal force or endurance and instead may be detrimental to quadriceps force production.</p>

3 MeV Proton Ion beam analysis of NCA/Si anode-cathode mapping

<p><span>The dataset presents 2140 ion-beam-analysis (IBA) measurements of a NCA cathode and a Si/G anode using 2970+-20 keV protons. Figure 1 shows an example of the result. The anode and cathode foils were cycled in a full liquid electrolyte cell for 340 cycles and analysed in the state-of-charge =0. The cell consisted of 20 cathode and 20 anode layer from which 2 cathode and 2 anode layers from the top (KT, AT) and middle (AM, KM) were extracted for IBA. For practical reasons each of the 110x80 mm&sup2; foils was cut into 9 equal parts. Four detectors acquire the data simultaneously for RBS, NRA, PIGE, and PIXE. The description of the end-station and detectors can be found here: </span><span><a href="https://doi.org/10.3390/instruments5010010"><span>https://doi.org/10.3390/instruments5010010</span></a></span><span>. </span></p> <p><span>Each point on the sample consists of 4 files, four detector spectra. The filename consists of the sample name, three positions in units of nm (X, Y, Z), a rotation in units of &micro;&deg; followed by an underscore ( _ ) and the type of data contained in the file (RBS, NRA, PIXE, PIGE, or Meta). Only X and Z positions are relevant in this case as indicated in the attached figure.</span></p> <p><span>The RBS, NRA, and PIGE detector files contain a header specifying the dead- and live-time followed by two columns. The first column represents the digital channel of the detector. The second column represents the counts acquired in this channel. This format is readable as ASCI by SimNRA7. SimNRA 7 reference evaluations are included in the dataset. The PIXE file contains the number of channels in the first row/header and only the counts in the subsequent rows. The channel is given by the row number. This format is readable by GUPIXWIN3. Example GUPIXWIN files are included</span></p> <p><span>The channels of the detector files can be re-calculated using a calibration shown in the following table 1. Certain drifts in the calibrations are possible, but should be limited to below 2% of the given value. All points are integrated to the same ion dose of 2 &micro;C. Raw data for the article: Mind the stimulation site: Enhancing and diminishing sentence comprehension with anodal tDCS

<p>In a previous sham-controlled study, we showed the feasibility of increasing language comprehension in healthy participants by applying anodal transcranial direct current stimulation (atDCS) over the left inferior frontal gyrus (LIFG). In the present work, we present a follow-up experiment targeting with atDCS the left inferior parietal cortex (LIPC) while participants performed the same auditory comprehension task used in our previous experiment. Both neural sites (LIFG and LIPC) are crucial hubs of Baddeley&rsquo;s model of verbal short-term memory (vSTM).</p> <p>AtDCS over LIPC decreased accuracy as compared to sham and LIFG stimulation, suggesting the involvement of this area in sentence comprehension. Crucially, our results highlighted that applying tDCS over different hubs of the same neural network can lead to opposite behavioural results, with relevant implications from a clinical perspective.</p>

Ball-on-plate tribotesting of IVB element layers deposited on anodized aluminum alloys

<p>This dataset contains a summary file (this one) and two spreadsheet files with coefficients of friction of anodic coatings with or without deposited layers of IVB elements, their oxides or selected other elements. Aluminum alloys 1050 and 6082 are used as substrates with 50 &mu;m anodic coatings and 15-75 nm or higher thickness of the deposited layers. Corundum ball of 6 mm OD is used as a counter-body at 2 cm/s velocity under 1 N and 10 N loads. In this file, methodology, charts with coefficients of friction, X-ray reflectance data and calculations are provided to quantify the deposition rates on polished surfaces.</p>

Energies 2022, 15, 608.&nbsp;The experiments were performed by the first two authors.<br> These data set refer to experiments carried out on a stand used to test high-temperature fuel cells. The subject of the study was a molten carbonate fuel cell fueled with a mixture of methane and steam with steam to carbon ratio of 2.0, 2.5, 3.0 and 3.5 and at the cell operating temperature of 550&deg;C and 650&deg;C. Additionally, in the anode channel of the cell, there was a catalyst in the amount of 2 g. The active area of the cell was 20.25 cm<sup>2</sup>. The article that uses these research results is published in an open access journal with a CC-BY license. This research was funded by the National Science Center, Poland (Grant number 2020/39/D/ST8/02021).</p>

Germanium tin alloy nanowires as anode materials for high performance Li-ion batteries

<p><strong>Abstract</strong><br> The combination of two active Li-ion materials (Ge and Sn) can result in improved conduction paths and higher capacity retention. Here we report for the first time, the implementation of Ge<sub>1&ndash;x</sub>Sn<sub>x</sub> alloy nanowires as anode materials for Li-ion batteries. Ge<sub>1&minus;x</sub>Sn<sub>x</sub> alloy nanowires have been successfully grown via vapor&ndash;liquid&ndash;solid technique directly on stainless steel current collectors. Ge<sub>1&minus;x</sub>Sn<sub>x</sub> (x = 0.048) nanowires were predominantly seeded from the Au<sub>0.80</sub>Ag<sub>0.20</sub> catalysts with negligible amount of growth was also directly catalyzed from stainless steel substrate. The electrochemical performance of the the Ge<sub>1&minus;x</sub>Sn<sub>x</sub> nanowires as an anode material for Li-ion batteries was investigated via galvanostatic cycling and detailed analysis of differential capacity plots (DCPs). The nanowire electrodes demonstrated an exceptional capacity retention of 93.4% from the 2nd to the 100th charge at a C/5 rate, while maintaining a specific capacity value of &sim;921 mAh g&minus;1 after 100 cycles. Voltage profiles and DCPs revealed that the Ge<sub>1&minus;x</sub>Sn<sub>x</sub> nanowires behave as an alloying mode anode material, as reduction/oxidation peaks for both Ge and Sn were observed, however it is clear that the reversible lithiation of Ge is responsible for the majority of the charge stored.</p>

The photoelectrical performance of anodized titanium sheets

<p>Anodization is a widely used method to obtain multicolored oxidized titanium sheets. However, most researchers paid great attention to the color related properties<span> of TiO</span><sub><span><span>2</span></span></sub><span> nanotube</span><span> instead of photoelectrical properties</span><span> of titanium oxide film</span><span>. In this work, to study their photoelectrical properties, a series of multicolored oxidized titanium sheets were prepared by anodization method, and </span>UV-Vis absorption and photocurrents were tested<span>. </span><span>The anodized titanium sheets not only can be used as decoration material such as Jewelry, but also are supposed to be used as photoelectrical catalyst. </span><span>The </span><span>relationship between </span><span>anodization</span><span> voltages</span><span>/anodization durations</span><span> and photocurrents of titanium sheets was studied. Results show that titanium sheets have excellent photoelectric</span><span>al</span><span> performance</span><span>. </span>With the increase of anodization voltage, number of UV-Vis absorption peaks increased under visible light which means increasing absorption. When anodization duration increased, absorption band edge also increased in visible light region, which means band gap needed to produce charge transfer transition decreased. <span>Under simulated sunlight and applied voltage of +0.4V, photocurrent increase</span><span>d</span><span> with the increase of either anodiz</span><span>ation</span><span> voltage or </span><span>anodization duration</span><span>, and can be expressed by linear equations respectively.</span> <span>In addition,</span> <span>anodization currents were recorded during anodization. Morphology, crystal structure and p</span><span>hoto</span><span>electrical properties of anodized titanium sheets were characterized. </span></p>
