MiraBest Batched Dataset

If using this dataset, please cite Porter & Scaife (2023), which provides a full description of its construction and use.

The MiraBest Batched Dataset is a labelled dataset of Fanaroff-Riley (FR) galaxies drawn from Miraghaei and Best 2017. At present, the dataset consists of FRI, FRII and hybrid FR sources, labelled as either confidently or uncertainly classified, and with any nonstandard morphology noted.

The MiraBest Batched Dataset is comprised of a total of 1256 images, with their class denoted by a three-digit number.

First digit: FRI (1), FRII (2), hybrid source (3). Second digit: confidently classified (0), uncertaintly classified (1). Third digit: standard morphology (0), double-double (1), wide-angle tail (2), head-tail (4).

Images were obtained from the VLA FIRST sky survey via SkyView virtual telescope. All images have dimensions of 150 x 150 pixels, with one pixel equivalent to an angular size of 1.8". The dataset is split into 7 training batches and a test batch, each composed of 157 images. The number of objects of each class in each batch is roughly consistent between batches, and the test batch contains at least one example of every class.

This second version of MiraBest uses the same image generation methods as the previous, but now provides images from both VLA FIRST and NVSS, maintaining dimensions of 150 x 150 pixels for both; NVSS images hence have one pixel equivalent to an angular size of 15". These may be accessed from MiraBest_F and MiraBest_N, respectively. The sources included in each batch were kept consistent between the two datasets, to allow for direct comparison of performance; however, they are not identical to the batches of original version of MiraBest, although the overall batch class composition remains consistent.

Insights into Batch Selection for Event-camera Motion Estimation - Datasets

See https://github.com/event-driven-robotics/batch-selection-experiments for examples on how to read and process the data.

Simulated datasets were used to accurately have a ground-truth of 3 DoF camera rotation, for valid training and evaluation. Four photo-realistic simulated environments from UnrealCV Zoo were selected as they are publicly available indoor scenes and include diverse lighting textures, shadows, reflections and object clutter. The camera was positioned inside the virtual room and rotated along all its three axes randomly at a variety of speeds. Frames were generated at >1 kHz from which the event-stream is generated using log-image-difference techniques. Five velocity trajectories were used for arch1, four velocity trajectories were used for arch2, and three trajectories for arch3. Including the final room dataset, a total of 13 different datasets (each with a different velocity trajectory) cover a total of 190 seconds of data. Note: room is split into 3 archived files.

Please cite:

Valerdi, J.L., Bartolozzi, C. and Glover, A., 2023. Biosynthesis of Furfurylamines in Batch and Continuous Flow by Immobilized Amine Transaminases

Building blocks with amine functionality are crucial in the chemical industry. Biocatalytic syntheses and chemicals derived from renewable resources are increasingly desired to achieve sustainable production of these amines. As a result, renewable materials such as furfurals, especially furfurylamines like 5-(hydroxymethyl)furfurylamine (HMFA) and 2,5-di(aminomethyl)furan (DAF), are gaining increasing attention. In this study, we identified four different amine transaminases (ATAs) that catalyze the reductive amination of 5-(hydroxymethyl)furfural (HMF) and 2,5-diformylfuran (DFF). We successfully immobilized these ATAs on glutaraldehyde-functionalized amine beads using multiple binding and on amine beads by site-selective binding of the unique Cα-formylglycine within an aldehyde tag. All immobilized ATAs were efficiently reused in five repetitive cycles of reductive amination of HMF with alanine as co-substrate, while the ATA from Silicibacter pomeroyi (ATA-Spo) also exhibited high stability for reuse when isopropylamine was used as an amine donor. Additionally, immobilized ATA-Spo yielded high conversion in the batch syntheses of HMFA and DAF using alanine (87% and 87%, respectively) or isopropylamine (99% and 98%, respectively) as amine donors. We further demonstrated that ATA-Spo was effective for the reductive amination of HMF with alanine or isopropylamine in continuous-flow catalysis with high conversion up to 12 days (48% and 41%, respectively).
