Elongation of very long chain fatty acids protein 7 (ELOVL7); A Target Enabling Package
<p>The long-chain fatty acid elongases (ELOVL) catalyse the first rate-limiting step in the two carbon elongation of the acyl chains of fatty acids (FAs) greater than 12 carbons in length. Defects in these ELOVL elongases cause severe genetic diseases, such as Stargardt disease-3 and several ataxias, and knockout studies suggest roles in insulin resistance and hepatic steatosis. This TEP provides the first structural information for this family of enzymes which, coupled with mutagenesis and biophysical studies, demonstrates how substrates and products bind within the active site.</p>
Land, carbon and biodiversity data for supply chain impact calculations
<p>Monitoring, halting and reversing land conversion is fundamental to meeting international biodiversity and climate targets, and agriculture is the major driver of land conversion. We present an open access set of global data for calculating land use change impacts of agricultural supply chains. These data, originally prepared for the LandGriffon service, include indicators of deforestation, conversion of natural ecosystems, greenhouse gas emissions, and loss of intact or high integrity ecosystems following international standards and guidelines for reporting and target setting in the agriculture, forestry, and land use sector. In order to assign impacts to agricultural production, we prepare data using a spatial adaptation of the statistical Land Use Change (sLUC) accounting approach distributing impact to human activities across the local area using a 50km radius. The results are high resolution global maps of impact per hectare of land occupation. These can then be combined with land footprint data, cropland extent, or productivity maps to calculate land use change related impacts for specific crop volumes sourced from specific regions. Carbon and deforestation results are validated against FAO statistics at the national level.</p>

Discrete Dataset - A dataset for computing with operators defined on a finite chain
<p>Discrete Dataset is a collection of the main operators defined on the finite chain L_n={0,1,...,n} up to n=11. These operators have been computationally generated, with the aim of being used to study properties of the operators. <p>This is the database of articles "Global supply chains amplify economic costs of future extreme heat risk". The database contains the number of deaths caused by future heat waves in regions around the world under different SSP scenarios (e.g. SSP119, SSP245, SSP585), as well as global health losses, labor losses, and indirect losses as a percentage of regional or sectoral value added under different SSP scenarios. The regions of the database are aggregated using the GTAP 141 aggregating schema.</p>

Control T-cell receptor (TCR) alpha and beta chain nucleotide and amino acid sequences from human and mouse
<p>A dataset of pooled T-cell receptor (TCR) sequences for TCR alpha and beta chains of human and mouse.</p> <p>Sequences are obtained from various samples of healthy individuals/mice using our conventional protocols: see for example [Britanova et al "Dynamics of individual T cell repertoires: from cord blood to centenarians" The Journal of Immunology 2016] and [Izraelson et al. "Comparative analysis of murine T‐cell receptor repertoires." Immunology 2018].</p> <p>The sequences are stored as gzipped clonotype tables in VDJtools format, see [https://vdjtools-doc.readthedocs.io/en/master/input.html#vdjtools-format].</p> <p>This control dataset can be used as a proxy for a generative VDJ rearrangement model to estimate the expected frequency distribution of TCRs and check for enrichment of rare TCR clonotypes and groups of similar TCR sequences. First Three-dimensional Quantification of Planktic Food Chain lower levels (Copepods) for the Ross Sea region Marine Protected Area (RSRMPA), Antarctica: Using FAIR-inspired legacy data with Machine Learning, and Open Source GIS
<p>This dataset is relative to the paper entitled: "First Three-dimensional Quantification of Planktic Food Chain lower levels (Copepods) for the Ross Sea region Marine Protected Area (RSRMPA), Antarctica: Using FAIR-inspired legacy data with Machine Learning, and Open Source GIS" publishing in journal Diversity (MPDI).</p> <p>Abstract:</p> <p>Zooplankton is a fundamental group in all aquatic ecosystems located the base of the food chain. It forms a link between the lower trophic levels with secondary consumers and shows marked fluctuations of populations with environmental change, especially reacting to heating and water acidification. At sea copepod crustaceans account for app. 70% in abundance of zooplankton and are a target of monitoring activities in key areas such as the Southern Ocean. In this study we have used FAIR-inspired legacy data (dating back to the ‘80s) collected in the Ross Sea by the Italian National Antarctic Program in GBIF.org. Together with other open-access GIS data sources and tools it allows generating, for the first time, three-dimensional predictive distribution maps for twenty-six copepod species. These predictive maps were obtained by applying machine learning techniques to grey literature data, which were visualized in open-source GIS platforms. In a Species Distribution Modeling (SDM) framework we used machine learning with three types of algorithms (TreeNet, RandomForest and Ensemble) to analyze the presence and absence of copepods at different areas and depth classes in function of environmental descriptors obtained from the Polar Macroscope Layers present in Quantartica. The models allow for the first time to map-predict the food chain in quantitative terms showing the relative index of occurrence (RIO) and identified the presence for each copepod species analyzed in the Ross Sea. Our results show marked geographical preferences that vary with species and trophic strategy. This study demonstrates that machine learning is a successful method in accurately predicting Antarctic copepod presence, also providing useful data to orient future sampling and management of wildlife and conservation.</p>

Regional assessment of the current status of Short Food Supply Chains
<p>The assessment of the current status of the Short Food Supply Chains (SFSCs) in each of the 12 Beacon Regions (focal regions) of the agroBRIDGES project is one of the different key aspects that jointly conform to the overall project concept.</p> <p>It is important to study the existing knowledge and SFSCs in each region, to identify and later stimulate the wide adoption of sustainable SFSC-based business models already existing successfully in one or some of the regions. Production and trade data on cocoa value chain in Ghana
<p>This dataset covers upstream, midstream and downstream behavioural patterns that were used to identify precursors of vulnerabilities in Ghana’s cocoa value chain. Data were obtained via focus group discussions and individual interviews with cocoa farmers in Ghana and extracted from annual reports of the global cocoa industry published by the International Cocoa Organisation. Behavioural patterns were established from transcripts and reports using NVivo as the computer-assisted qualitative data analysis software.</p>
Three-Enzyme Phosphorylase Cascade for Integrated Production of Short-chain Cellodextrins
<p>Cellodextrins are linear β-1,4-gluco-oligosaccharides that are well soluble in water up to a degree of polymerization (DP) of ~6. Soluble cellodextrins have promising applications as nutritional ingredients. A DP-controlled, bottom-up synthesis from expedient substrates is desired for their bulk production. Here, we developed a three-enzyme glycoside phosphorylase cascade for the conversion of sucrose and glucose into the short-chain cellodextrins (DP range 3 – 6). The cascade reaction involves iterative β-1,4-glucosylation of glucose from α-glucose 1-phosphate (αGlc1-P) donor that is formed in situ from sucrose and phosphate. With final concentration and yield of soluble cellodextrins set as targets for the biocatalytic synthesis, we identified, and partly optimized, three major factors of reaction efficiency: the ratio of enzyme activities; the ratio of sucrose and glucose; and the phosphate concentration used. We demonstrate efficient use of the phosphate/αGlc1-P shuttle for cellodextrins production and obtain the soluble product at 40 g/L under near complete utilization of the donor substrate offered (88 mol.% from 200 mM sucrose). The productivity was 16 g/(L h). Through a simple two-step route, the soluble cellodextrins were recovered from the reaction mixtures in ≥ 95% purity and ~92% yield. Overall, this study provides the basis for their integrated production. </p>
Supply chain sustainability standards in temperate farming commodities
<p>Could companies contribute to farmland biodiversity in temperate landscapes? Most of the business efforts to enhance sustainability in agricultural supply chains have been focused on tropics. Important temperate crops like cereals and oilseeds are left largely unchecked. This results in a missed opportunity to reverse biodiversity decline in about 47% of the world's cropland. But implementation of voluntary sustainability standards to restore biodiversity in temperate and Mediterranean biomes would require doing things differently than in tropical commodities. Temperate agriculture differs both in its operations (lack of divergence between staples and cash crops, crop rotation) and landscape context (lack of agricultural expansion frontiers, complex pressures on biodiversity). Consequently, agricultural certification and similar schemes need to be linked primarily to a unit of space rather than a specific commodity.
