Resting-state fMRI data for locating causal hubs of memory consolidation in spontaneous brain network
<p>The mouse fMRI data for the paper "<strong>Locating causal hubs of memory consolidation in spontaneous brain network in male mice</strong>"<strong> </strong>published in <strong>Nature Communications </strong>(DOI: 10.1038/s41467-023-41024-z)<strong>. </strong>This includes longitudinal resting-state fMRI data in mice after behavioural training for 1-Day or 5-Day Active Place Avoidance (APA) task, acquired at post-training day 1 and day 8. Due to the large datasets, each group has been packed into several 2GB zip files. They need to be downloaded into the same folder and unpacked together (e.g. 1-Day APA Post training day 1 has five zip files starting with "1DAPA_PostDay1"). The structural and EPI templates and the ROI labels in the AMBMC atlas space are provided in the AMBMC_label.zip. </p>

Data from: Land consolidation impacts the abundance and richness of natural enemies but not pests in small-holder rice systems
<p>Traditional small-holder agricultural landscapes in southern China are being consolidated to increase mechanization levels in agriculture, but it is unclear how this influences rice arthropod communities in these landscapes. Here, based on a six-year study in 20 rice fields, we evaluated the impact of land consolidation on arthropod communities, crop damage, and rice yield. We also analyzed how effects of land consolidation were moderated by the proportion of large semi-natural habitat patches and insecticide use. We found that, compared to consolidated fields, rice fields in traditional farmlands had a higher abundance and family richness of natural enemies, but a similar abundance of rice pests. Land consolidation did not significantly interact with the proportion of large semi-natural habitat patches or insecticide application, in terms of affecting arthropods. The proportion of semi-natural habitat reduced the negative effect of insecticide application on key rice pests, but no equivalent interaction occurred for natural enemies.</p> <p><em>Syntheses and Applications:</em> Land consolidation can have negative impacts on the abundance and richness of natural enemies, but not pests in small-holder rice systems, and these impacts are independent from insecticide application and proportion of semi-natural habitat in the landscape. We recommend the implementation of agri-environmental measures or re-establishing field margin vegetation during the consolidation process to mitigate these potential negative effects, although trade-off between enhancing crop yields and preserving rice arthropod biodiversity should be considered. We encourage future research to focus on the detailed assessment of the function of linear habitats for a better understanding of the impact of land consolidation.</p>
DDoS Attacks Data Set - Consolidated from CICDDOS2019 and CICIDS2017
<p>This dataset is a transformation of the <a href="https://www.unb.ca/cic/datasets/ddos-2019.html">CICDDOS2019</a> collection of datasets by <a href="https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/abstract/document/8888419">Iman Sharafaldin et al. (2019)</a>. All datasets have been combined and have had their labels standardised. Infinity values have been removed. A supplement of Benign tuples has been introduced from <a href="https://www.unb.ca/cic/datasets/ids-2017.html">CICIDS2017</a>, another collection of datasets by <a href="https://fardapaper.ir/mohavaha/uploads/2018/07/Fardapaper-Toward-Generating-a-New-Intrusion-Detection-Dataset-and-Intrusion-Traffic-Characterization.pdf">Iman Sharafaldin et al. Raw Data or the article: Physiopathology and Diagnosis of Congestive Heart Failure: Consolidated Certainties and New Perspectives
<p>Volume overload and fluid congestion are a fundamental issue in the assessment and management of patients with heart failure (HF). Recent studies have found that in acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF), right and left-sided pressures generally start to increase before any notable weight changes take place preceding an admission. ADHF may be a problem of volume redistribution among different vascular compartments instead of, or in addition to, fluid shift from the interstitial compartment. Thus, identifying heterogeneity of volume overload would allow guidance of tailored therapy. A comprehensive evaluation of congestive HF needs to take into account myriad parameters, including physical examination, echocardiographic values, and biomarker serum changes. Furthermore, potentially useful diagnostic tools include bioimpedance to measure intercompartmental fluid shifts, and evaluation of ultrasound lung comets to detect extravascular lung water.</p>
Impact of background input on memory consolidation in In-Vitro neural networks
<p>Memory consolidation is a complex process, that can be divided into two stages: first, memories are temporary stored in hippocampus and in the second stage, repeated replay slowly transfers memories to the neo-cortex for long-term consolidation. This 2<sup>nd</sup> stage occurs during slow wave sleep, a phase characterized in the cortex by low cholinergic tone and low afferent input. A recent in-vitro study showed that high cholinergic tone hampers memory consolidation, probably due to lowered network excitability (defined as the mean network response to one neuron spiking). Here we investigate whether low background input contributes to memory consolidation.</p> <p>We used cortical neuronal networks on multi electrode arrays to study memory. When input deprived, these networks develop an activity-connectivity balance. Focal stimuli initially disrupt the existing balance, inducing connectivity changes. When repeated, this effect fades and the response becomes part of spontaneous patterns (memory formation). Application of the same stimulus hours later does not affect connectivity indicating that memory was consolidated.</p> <p>We applied five periods (10 min each) of focal electrical stimulation at different electrodes (A B A), separated by 1 hour of spontaneous activity . Some cultures were transfected to express channelrhopsins (ChR2) enabling global optogenetic background stimulation. We used 12 control, 15 ChR2 cultures with no background input and 8 ChR2 cultures with superimposed random optogenetic stimulation during electrical stimulation periods (f<sub>mean</sub>=5 Hz) to mimic afferent input.</p> <p>Background stimulation acutely reduced network excitability during stimulation without persisting effects after cessation. ChR2 cultures showed significantly more dispersed spiking outside network bursts, and network excitability tended to be lower than in control cultures. Stimulation at electrodes A and B induced memory traces in control cultures. Return to electrode A did not further affect connectivity, showing that memory trace A had been consolidated. Background stimulation impeded the formation of memory traces following electrical stimulation at either electrode. ChR2 expression alone also obstructed memorization.</p> <p>These findings confirm the importance of low background afferent input for memory consolidation. The presence of background afferent inputs reduced network excitability, similar to high cholinergic tone. This leads to the conclusion that sufficient network excitability is crucial for memory consolidation, and high network excitability may be a critical feature of slow wave sleep that makes it more suitable for memory consolidation than the awake state.</p>
Impacts of Freight Consolidation and Truck Sharing on Freight Mobility
<p>Corresponding data set for Tran-SET Project No. 17ITSOKS02. Abstract of the final report is stated below for reference:</p> <p>"The trucking industry is an important sector of the U.S. economy. However, it is quite fragmented, hindering the efficiency of cargo transportation and the ability for small carriers to identify demands to fill full truck loads. The focus of this research is to study models and algorithms in order to aid online freight marketplaces to identify efficient consolidation strategies. To accomplish this aim, a new mixed integer programming model for the pickup and delivery problem has been developed. The model is geared towards identifying effective freight consolidation opportunities. A branch-and-cut algorithm to solve the model was also developed. The model was applied to several case studies using Transplace, Inc. (a third party logistics company) route data to identify optimized, consolidated routes. Emission impacts were also estimated for both the existing and consolidated routes using monetary equivalent cost (MEC) values. A linear regression model was developed to predict freight movement between metropolitan statistical areas (MSAs). Results of the case studies were then applied to estimate the operation and environment-related costs associated with freight movement from New Orleans MSA to Oklahoma City MSA for all commodities. Finally, the results of the case studies were applied at the national level and projected for future years, to estimate the potential cost savings in freight consolidation. Results indicate that it may be possible to consolidate cargo with only 67% of the currently used number of trucks, which may reduce the operation cost by 23% and MEC by 17%."</p>

<p>Deliverable 1.4 of the POIESIS project is a consolidated open access data set for responsible research practices and trust in science. D1.4 consists of two databases: the POIESIS National Database and the POEISIS Regional Database. The method and rationale behind the construction of all indicators in both databases are laid out in Work Package 1’s previous deliverable, D1.3 (Bauer et al., 2024). The two database are accompanied by a Guidance Sheet which provides details and relevant notes regarding the structure of the two databases. </p> <p> </p>
