Magnetic fabric data in the Central Sichuan Basin, South China
<p>Table S1 shows the summary of magnetic scalar and directional data in paleogeographic coordinate system along the transect AA’ across the Central Sichuan Basin. For this study, a total of 337 standard oriented rock samples were collected from 29 sites within the Triassic-Cretaceous sediments for room-temperature AMS measurements along a ~210 km-long transect from the Longquan Shan Fault to the Huaying Shan Fault across the Central Sichuan Basin using an electricity-powered portable drill. </p>

Data from: Facile fabrication of fluoro-polymer self-assembled ZnO nanoparticles mediated, durable and robust omniphobic surfaces on polyester fabrics
<p>Omniphobic surfaces have been widely used in many applications, especially due to their self-cleaning property. Omniphobicity of a surface is directly interpreted by measuring the contact angle that it makes with a liquid of interest. In this study, polyester fabric was made omniphobic with a measured water contact angle (WCA) of 152° by reducing the surface free energy of the fabric surface via the polymerization of 3,3,4,4,5,5,6,6,7,7,8,8,8-tridecafluorooctyl methacrylate(TDM) on a ZnO seed layer. The fabrics with and without the seed layer were characterized using various analytical techniques. The WCA of the fabric with the seed layer was 153° compared to 142° of the fabric without the seed layer. The treated fabric made a contact angle of 132° with SAE 40 motor oil indicating its oleophobicity while non-treated fabric made no contact angle. In addition to that, the treated fabric is omniphobic against milk tea, coffee, coconut oil, and ethanol. The morphological analysis using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) of the treated and non-treated fabrics revealed that the particle size of the seed layer applied fabric was ranging from 100-300 nm and upon the TDM application it became less than 100 nm. Elemental analysis by EDS showed the presence of fluorine and FT-IR analysis confirmed the polymerization of TDM. The polymerization of fluoropolymer was further confirmed by TGA and DSC analyses. The contact angle of the surface-modified fabric remained unchanged even after 1.5 h washing and 50 cycles of abrasion. The modified fabric is robust and no change was observed in the colour of the fabric during the process. More importantly the preparation method of the fabric is simple, low cost and quick.</p>
FIB-tomography data of porous Zr-oxide fabricated with varying sintering conditions
<p>This dataset contains 3D data acquired with FIB-tomography from porous Zr-oxide. The pore structures of the ceramic materials were investigated in context with optimization of transport properties (aimed for low viscous flow/permeability and high electric conduction via liquid electrolyte in the pores), so that the Zr-oxide is suitable for application as liquid junction (diaphragm) in pH-sensors. Further details on the scientific background are given in Holzer et al., 2016, Materials & Design, 99, 314–327. (http://doi.org/10.1016/j.matdes.2016.03.034).</p> <p> </p> <p>The tomographs represent 9 ceramic materials that were produced with different sintering temperatures (1250, 1300, 1325 and 1350°C) and different sintering times (1, 2 and 3 hours). The study includes quantitative descriptions of relevant microstructure characteristics (porosity, tortuosity, constrictivity, hydraulic radius) and corresponding effective transport prorperties (permeability, conductivity).</p> <p> </p> <p>Each tomograph is presented as stack of 2D-tiff-images in two different versions: as gray-scale images (raw data) and as binarized images (segmented, with solid=black and pores=white). The voxel resolution is 10x10x10 nm for all 18 image stacks.</p> <p> </p> <p>More details on the image data (e.g. voxel nr, image window size, data size) are given in the downloadable file '2_3D_Data_Info.xlsx'.</p>
Data from: The fabrication of the heterojunction catalyst BiVO4/P25 and its visible-light photocatalytic activities
A heterojunction catalyst BiVO4/P25 was successfully fabricated using a one-step hydrothermal method. The BiVO4/P25 samples exhibited better photocatalytic activities and absorption performances when compared with the pure BiVO4. The degradation rate of the methyl blue (MB) solution (5 mg/L) reached up to 85% in sixty minutes under visible-light illumination (λ > 420 nm). The nanocomposites were characterized using XPS, Raman spectroscopy, FT-IR, UV–visual diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, SEM and HR-TEM. A high-powered scanning electron microscope showed a polyhedron shape and a flower-like shape. The BiVO4/P25 nanocomposite was found to have a rougher surface, as well as a larger surface area, when compared with the pure BiVO4. This resulted in an improved photocatalytic activity, along with super absorption to a large extent.
Data from: Facile fabrication of Mn2+ doped ZnO photocatalysts by electrospinning
In this study, we report a high efficiency photocatalyst synthesized by Mn2+ doped ZnO nanofibers (NFs) fabricated by facile electrospinning and a following annealing process, in which Mn2+ successes incorporate to ZnO NFs lattice without changing any morphology and crystalline structure of ZnO. The photodegradation properties were studied for ZnO doping with different concentrations of Mn2+ (5, 10, 15 and 50 at.%). The 50 % Mn2+-doped ZnO NFs owns excellent active photocatalytic performance (quantum efficiency up to 7.57 %) compared to pure ZnO (0.16 %) under visible light and can be considered as an efficient visible-light photocatalyst material. We systematically analyzed the catalytic mechanism and showed that the enhancement belongs to the Mn doping effect and the phase junction between MnO and ZnO. The dominant mechanism of Mn doping leads to the presence of impurity levels in the band gap of ZnO, narrowing the optical band gap of ZnO. In addition, doped Mn2+ ions can be used as electron traps that inhibit the recombination process and promote electron-hole pair separation. Overall, this paper provides a facile approach to fabricate a highly efficient visible-light photocatalyst using controlled annealing.
