Hunters' Willingness to Adopt and Support Biosecurity Actions to Prevent the Spread of Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease
<p>These are the data published in Shapiro et al. "Engaging Stakeholders in Wildlife Disease Management: Hunters’ Willingness to Adopt and Support Biosecurity Actions to Prevent the Spread of Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease" Conservation Science and Practice, published online on 12/22/22.</p> <p>Note: We uploaded the corrected dataset (Version 2) on 12/23/22. We found coding errors for the gender and age variables in the original data set (Version 1), which we corrected. The updated data set also contains a Case Number variable (which was randomly generated by SPSS) and the RHDV2 status of the state in which respondents resided at the time of the survey. This binary variable (0=no RHDV2; 1=RHDV2 cases) was calculated using people’s state, the date they took the survey, and the latest RHDV2 maps.</p>

logfiles to accompany Managing Coronavirus Disease 2019 Spread With Voluntary Public Health Measures: Sweden as a Case Study for Pandemic Control
<p>Logfiles corresponding to public health interventions 1-5 as tested in Kamerlin and Kasson, 2020 are in logfiles_5day_bulk.tgz (corresponding to 5-day doubling time). Logfiles corresponding to the validation plots in the supplement are in valid_logfiles.tgz.</p> <p>Logfiles are provided as primary data. The parsed data in .mat form are available in a separate Zenodo repository referenced in the corresponding paper, cover the full set of voluntary public-health behaviors, and are anticipated to be more helpful in re-analysis.</p>
Data from: Destructive disinfection of infected brood prevents systemic disease spread in ant colonies
In social groups, infections have the potential to spread rapidly and cause disease outbreaks. Here, we show that in a social insect, the ant Lasius neglectus, the negative consequences of fungal infections (Metarhizium brunneum) can be mitigated by employing an efficient multicomponent behaviour, termed destructive disinfection, which prevents further spread of the disease through the colony. Ants specifically target infected pupae during the pathogen's non-contagious incubation period, utilising chemical 'sickness cues' emitted by pupae. They then remove the pupal cocoon, perforate its cuticle and administer antimicrobial poison, which enters the body and prevents pathogen replication from the inside out. Like the immune system of a metazoan body that specifically targets and eliminates infected cells, ants destroy infected brood to stop the pathogen completing its lifecycle, thus protecting the rest of the colony. Hence, in an analogous fashion, the same principles of disease defence apply at different levels of biological organisation.

Partial dataset related to the article "Sport PRactice and its Effects on aortic size and valve function in bicuspid Aortic valve Disease: a cross-sectional report from the SPREAD study".
<p>This record contains raw data related to the article "<span>Sport PRactice and its Effects on aortic size and valve function in bicuspid Aortic valve Disease: a cross-sectional report from the SPREAD study"</span></p> <p><span>The bicuspid aortic valve (BAV) is the most common congenital heart defect among adults, often leading to severe valve dysfunction and aortic complications. Despite its clinical significance, uncertainties persist regarding the impact of sports participation on the natural course of BAV disease. The SPREAD (Sport PRactice and its Effects on Bicuspid Aortic valve Disease) study is a multicenter and multinational project designed to investigate this relationship. This paper outlines the study's design, and objectives. The study is divided into two phases; phase one involves a cross-sectional analysis comparing aortic dimensions and valve function among competitive athletes with BAV, athletes with tricuspid aortic valves (TAV), and sedentary individuals with BAV. The second phase is a prospective, longitudinal follow-up aiming to evaluate the impact of regular sports training on disease progression. The SPREAD study seeks to provide evidence-based insights into the effects of sports participation on BAV disease progression, guiding clinical decision-making regarding sports eligibility and risk stratification for individuals with BAV.</span></p>
