Frequency Tunable Electromagnetic Vibration Energy Harvester Utilizing Piecewise Linear Nonlinearity Dataset

This is the data gathered during the experiments referenced in the manuscript. All files are .mat and native to Matlab. The variable "time' is the time array gathered during operation corresponding to the 'data' array of the same length. 'data' contains 2-3 columns depending on the file. The first column is always the base displacement voltage output, the second is the mass displacement voltage output, and if a third column is included then this is the measured voltage at the load applied to the harvester.

Energy Harvesting for Self-Powered Sensors for Smart Transportation Infrastructure

This research aims to develop an innovative approach for energy harvesting from transportation infrastructures and demonstrate the feasibility of the approach through laboratory testing and field demonstration. The proposed innovative approach of energy harvesting, termed as electromagnetic energy harvesting system (EMEHSs), can be used to power wireless sensors commonly used for health monitoring of bridges. This EMEHS has expected to be simple, but effective in harvesting kinetic energy and converting it to electric power for wireless sensors. Practical and economic feasibility and field implementation of the device on a bridge will also be investigated in this work. Based on detailed numerical simulations and modeling, a larger-scale device will be first tested in the laboratory and then will be installed on a bridge to demonstrate the technology and its effectiveness in powering typical health monitoring sensors.

Data from: Transcutaneous ultrasound energy harvesting using capacitive triboelectric technology

A major challenge for implantable medical systems is the inclusion or reliable delivery of electrical power. We use ultrasound to deliver mechanical energy through skin and liquids, and demonstrate a thin implantable vibrating triboelectric generator able to effectively harvest it. The ultrasound can induce the micrometer scale displacement of a polymer thin membrane to generate electrical energy through contact electrification. We recharge a Li-ion battery at a rate of 166 μC/s in water. The voltage and current generated ex-vivo by ultrasound-energy transfer reached 2.4 V and 156 µA under porcine tissue. It shows that capacitive triboelectric electret is the first technology able to compete with piezoelectricity to harvest ultrasound in-vivo and power medical implants.
