agroBRIDGES Multi-Actor Framework Engagement Data Analysis

The multi-actor framework employed in agroBRIDGES foresees the creation of a regional Multi-Actor Platform (MAP) in the 12 focal European regions and countries of the project (Beacon Regions) as well as a Stakeholder Reference Group (SRG) at European level with a view to engaging stakeholders in the project’s activities.

In this way, this dataset contains the engagement analysis of the MAP and the SRG members that have been selected as active participants in the activities carried out in the frame of the agroBRIDGES H2020 project, focused on building bridges between producers and consumers, thanks to the agroBRIDGES Toolbox developed and other supporting activities organized throughout the project. To achieve project objectives, results from MAPs and SRG management have been tracked during the first half of the project, and will continue to be monitored until the end of the project, in collaboration with all Beacon Region Leaders and the SRG Manager.

In this first round of monitoring, with respect to the SRG, 20 stakeholders have been engaged, of which approximately 50% have had a high engagement, 30% a medium engagement, and 20% a low-to-none engagement. As part of the planned engagement analysis and based on the data provided by each of the Beacon Region Leaders, the initial and long-term number of MAP members, as well as the evolution in their level of engagement, have been monitored., getting a total of 179 MAP members currently engaged in the project. In a first evaluation, high engagement was generally achieved in approximately 80% of cases, with less engagement from some educational bodies and consumers.

In the second round of monitoring, the MAPs were expanded to a total of 199 stakeholders in 12 countries, while the SRG synthesis remained unchanged. The activities of the project supported higher engagement of the MAPs, while collaboration with the SRG continued in an ad hoc basis, as pan-European activities were less frequently organised than regional ones.

The countries involved are:

Denmark

Finland

France

Greece

Ireland

Italy

Latvia

Lithuania

Netherlands

Poland

Spain

Turkey

The dataset contains:

agroBRIDGES_StakeholderEngagement_2022.12.27_v1: Spreadsheet in .xlsx format, containing a table with all MAP members, classified by type of organization, country, and including the level of engagement of each of them.

agroBRIDGES_StakeholderEngagement_2022.12.27_v1: Spreadsheet in .xlsx format, containing a table with all MAP members, classified by type of organization, country, and including the level of engagement of each of them.

agroBRIDGES_StakeholderEngagement_2023.12.19_v2: Spreadsheet in .xlsx format, containing a table with all MAP members, classified by type of organization, country, and including the level of engagement of each of them. Literature review of the enablers and barriers to stakeholder and citizen engagement in climate change adaptation process (as part of Adaptation AGORA project)

This dataset is the result of collaborative work for Deliverable 4.1 (WP4; T4.1) of the Adaptation AGORA project. This database was used to conduct a literature review of the enablers and barriers to stakeholder and citizen engagement in climate change adaptation process. It contains 123 papers retrived from Web of Science Databse in June 2023. We used a keyword search to identify and select articles that fell within the scope of our research, with each article containing at least one keyword related to climate change adaptation solutions, climate change, co-production, citizen and stakeholder involvement and factors (enablers and barriers).

We divided the coding framework into four main sections:

Section 1 collected basic information about the paper (i.e., date, journal, authors, type of study and methods for data collection).

Section 2 sought to better understand the adaptation initiatives treated in the paper. Here, we analysed 5 variables (the adaptation solutions type, sectors, benefits, scale, and location).

Section 3 collected characteristics of the climate change adaptation co-production process, including the definition of co-production, the type of the co-production process, its outputs, and the methods used to engage stakeholders.

Section 4 described the factors that enable or hinder the co-production process and their influence on different aspects of the process. After naming and defining each driver, we recorded the main type of factor, its impact, origin, and spatial and temporal scale of influence; the stakeholders who were responsible for and influenced by the factor, and the impacts on the various steps and outcomes of the co-production process.

Multi-level stakeholder engagement

Visualisation indicating the multi-level stakeholder process pursued in e-SAFE. The visualisation indicates how different stakeholder engagement processes are linked together.

The Advisory Board gives advice about the design and implementation of the real pilot in Catania (where one building is renovated with the e-SAFE technical solution) as well as the co-design and stakeholder engagement protocol. These protocols are informed by the results from the real pilot in Catania, and tested in two virtual pilots in other seismic prone cities outside of Italy.

The EU-stakeholder forum exchanges feedback and information with the real and virtual pilots, and gets access to the co-design and stakeholder engagement protocol. In that way, local, regional and European level stakeholders are engaging with the e-SAFE project.

This dataset presents the quantitative raw data that was collected under the H2020 INCENTIVE project for the D1.3 - “Requirements and motivations of quadruple helix stakeholders for active engagement in the Citizen Science Hubs”. The dataset includes the answers that were provided by almost 2,000 participants from 4 pilot European countries (Greece, Lithuania, Spain, and the Netherlands) regarding the general public's perceptions, attitudes, concerns, motivational factors and obstacles with regard to participation in Citizen Science activities. The original survey questionnaire was created and disseminated through the EUSurvey platform, and data collection took place from April to June 2021. For the statistical analysis of the data and the conclusions drawn from the analysis, you can access the D1.3 - "Requirements and motivations of quadruple helix stakeholders for active engagement in the Citizen Science Hubs”.

Under INCENTIVE, four Citizen Science Hubs will be established and tested during the life-span of the project in the facilities of four Research Performing and Funding Organisations (RPFOs): University of Twente (the Netherlands), Autonomous University of Barcelona (Spain), Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece) and Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (Lithuania). Essentially, the Hubs will aim to bring different stakeholders together and bridge society with science under the emerging paradigm of Citizen Science, in an institutionalised way.

"Dynamics of Endothelial Engagement and Filopodia Formation in Complex 3D Microscaffolds" : Raw Data

Raw data of the paper "Dynamics of Endothelial Engagement and Filopodia Formation in Complex 3D Microscaffolds", International Journal of Molecular Sciences, 2022.

Abstract: The understanding of endothelium–extracellular matrix interactions during the initiation of new blood vessels is of great medical importance; however, the mechanobiological principles governing endothelial protrusive behaviours in 3D microtopographies remain imperfectly understood. In blood capillaries submitted to angiogenic factors (such as vascular endothelial growth factor, VEGF), endothelial cells can transiently transdifferentiate in filopodia-rich cells, named tip cells, from which angiogenesis processes are locally initiated. This protrusive state based on filopodia dynamics contrasts with the lamellipodia-based endothelial cell migration on 2D substrates. Using two-photon polymerization, we generated 3D microstructures triggering endothelial phenotypes evocative of tip cell behaviour. Hexagonal lattices on pillars (“open”), but not “closed” hexagonal lattices, induced engagement from the endothelial monolayer with the generation of numerous filopodia. The development of image analysis tools for filopodia tracking allowed to probe the influence of the microtopography (pore size, regular vs. elongated structures, role of the pillars) on orientations, engagement and filopodia dynamics, and to identify MLCK (myosin light-chain kinase) as a key player for filopodia-based protrusive mode. Importantly, these events occurred independently of VEGF treatment, suggesting that the observed phenotype was induced through microtopography. These microstructures are proposed as a model research tool for understanding endothelial cell behaviour in 3D fibrillary networks.

Data from: Does losing reduce the tendency to engage with rivals to reach mates? An experimental test

Male-male contests for access to females or breeding resources is critical in determining male reproductive success. Larger males and those with more effective weaponry are more likely to win fights. However, even after controlling for such predictors of fighting ability, studies have reported a winner-loser effect: previous winners are more likely to win subsequent contests, while losers often suffer repeated defeats. While the effect of winning-losing is well-documented for the outcome of future fights, its effect on other behaviors (e.g., mating) remains poorly investigated. Here, we test whether a winning versus losing experience influenced subsequent behaviors of male mosquitofish (Gambusia holbrooki) towards rivals and potential mates. We housed focal males with either a smaller or larger opponent for 24 hours to manipulate their fighting experience to become winners or losers, respectively. The focal males then underwent tests that required them to enter and swim through a narrow corridor to reach females, bypassing a cylinder that contained either a larger rival male (competitive scenario), a juvenile or was empty (non-competitive scenarios). The tests were repeated after one week. Winners were more likely to leave the start area and to reach the females, but only when a larger rival was presented, indicating higher levels of risk-taking behavior in aggressive interactions. This winner-loser effect persisted for at least one week. We suggest that male mosquitofish adjust their assessment of their own and/or their rival's fighting ability following contests in ways whose detection by researchers depends on the social context.
