EVI: Evidence Graph Ontology v1.0

<p>The Evidence Graph ontology (EVI v1.0) extends core concepts from the W3C Provenance Ontology PROV-O to describe evidence for correctness of findings in biomedical publications. The semantic data model in EVI is expressed using OWL2 Web Ontology Language (OWL2).</p> <p>The core PROV ontology concepts used in EVI are Entity, Activity, and Agent, with two sub-classes Person and Organization. The object properties in EVI are used to establish relations among instances, most of which are of type DigitalObject. <p>EVIDENT H2020- Environmental data for Swedish Cities Dataset</p> <p>Environmental data from 615 cities in Sweden</p> <p>Weather, in combination with residential characteristics and electricity consumption, might be useful to consider in association with other datasets. In the instance of EVIDENT, they will be examined in combination with electricity consumption to establish the correlation with weather and to examine if weather conditions contribute and should be considered for policy development.</p> <p>The data have been collected from 18.10.2021 to 4.05.2023 and refer to 615 Swedish cities. The collection has been carried out with agents created and by calling in API. In the file &quot;Sweden_Cities_Avg_DaySect.xlsx&quot;, all cities have averaged from all measures. Also, the day has been divided into 3 sections and the averages apply to each section of the day.</p> <p>In each city, on average, there are 6 measurements per day. Data and code from "No evidence of sex ratio manipulation by black-throated blue warblers in response to food availability" Kaiser et al. 2023 Behavioral Ecology and Sociobiology

This dataset is published in support of "No evidence of sex ratio manipulation by black-throated blue warblers in response to food availability" by Kaiser et al. 2023 in Behavioral Ecology and Sociobiology. Data and code to test the assumptions and key predictions of the Trivers-Willard hypothesis, which proposes that females produce more sons or daughters depending on food availability, in the black-throated blue warbler at the Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest, NH, 2007-2012. Datasets support analyses of sex ratio bias at both the nest and nestling levels. Data tables support the comparison of the ratio of variances in the scaled pre-fledging mass of male and female nestlings using an F test and reproduction of Figures 2a and 2b. Figures are those used in the published manuscript. Code supports the calculation of offspring sex ratio bias at the population level, and considering separately both low- and high-quality habitats, using the Neuhäuser test, statistical models testing the assumptions of the Trivers-Willard hypothesis, effects of food availability and parental provisioning on offspring sex ratio, and effects of food availability on pre-fledging nestling mass of sons and daughters, and a power analysis to determine the power to detect an effect of food supplementation on sex ratio. These data were gathered as part of the Hubbard Brook Ecosystem Study (HBES). The HBES is a collaborative effort at the Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest, which is operated and maintained by the US Forest Service, Northern Research Station.

Data from: Grand Theft Empathy? Evidence for the absence of effects of violent video games on empathy for pain and emotional reactivity to violence

<p><strong>Abstract:</strong></p><p>Influential accounts claim that violent video games (VVG) decrease players' emotional empathy by desensitizing them to both virtual and real-life violence. However, scientific evidence for this claim is inconclusive and controversially debated. To assess the causal effect of VVGs on the behavioral and neural correlates of empathy and emotional reactivity to violence, we conducted a prospective experimental study using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). We recruited eighty-nine male participants without prior VVG experience. Over the course of two weeks, participants played either a highly violent video game, or a non-violent version of the same game. Before and after this period, participants completed an fMRI experiment with paradigms measuring their empathy for pain and emotional reactivity to violent images. Applying a Bayesian analysis approach throughout enabled us to find substantial evidence for the absence of an effect of VVGs on the behavioral and neural correlates of empathy. Moreover, participants in the VVG group were not desensitized to images of real-world violence. These results imply that short and controlled exposure to VVGs does not numb empathy nor the responses to real-world violence. We discuss the implications of our findings regarding the potential and limitations of experimental research on the causal effects of VVGs. While VVGs might not have a discernible effect on the investigated subpopulation within our carefully controlled experimental setting, our results cannot preclude that effects could be found in special vulnerable subpopulations, or in settings with higher ecological validity.<br>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Dataset:</strong><br>This dataset contains the fMRI data collected for the study in the BIDS-format (https://bids.neuroimaging.io/)</p><ul><li>functional neuroimaging (*_bold.nii.gz) data of 89 human participants, collected during two tasks:<ul><li>Empathy-for-Pain paradigm (Session 1 &amp; 2)</li><li>Emotional Reactivity paradigm (Session 2)</li></ul></li><li>associated event files (*_events.tsv) containing event onsets, durations, and behavioral covariates</li><li>metadata</li></ul><p>FMRI bold timeseries are fully preprocessed, as described in the manuscript.</p><p>Additional data, such as behavioral data in a simpler format, can be accessed on https://osf.io/yx423/</p><p>&nbsp;</p>

Supporting Data - Taxonomic reassessment of Tetrapygus niger (Arbacioida, Echinoidea): molecular and morphological evidence support its placement in Arbacia

<p>This dataset contains the accession numbers and links of the sequences of the specimens analyzed by this work, other sequences used for the analyses can be found in the original article. The species from which the sequences were extracted are: Tetrapygus niger Molina, 1782; Arbacia dufresnii Blainville, 1825; Arbacia spatuligera Valenciennes, 1846 and Coelopleurus floridanus A. Agassiz, 1872. The accession numbers for the Cytochrome Oxidase subunit I (COI) and 28S of the nuclear genome are presented separately.</p><p>In addition, the morphological data of Tetrapygus niger (Test diameter, test height and peristome diameter) presented in this study are shown, as well as their collectors, corresponding collection, country and locality.</p>

Clinical evidence for high-risk CE-marked medical devices for glucose management: a systematic review and meta-analysis

<p><strong><span>Aims: </span></strong><span>High-risk medical devices are increasingly used in diabetes management, but<span><span> there are no specific European recommendations on how they should be evaluated. Within</span></span> the Coordinating Research and Evidence for Medical Devices (CORE-MD) project, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis evaluating CE-marked high-risk devices for glucose management. </span></p> <p><strong><span>Materials and Methods: </span></strong><span>We<span> identified interventional and observational studies evaluating the </span>efficacy and safety of 8 automated insulin delivery (AID) systems, 2 implantable insulin pumps, and 3 implantable continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) devices.<span> </span></span><span>We meta-analysed randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing AID systems with other treatments.</span></p> <p><strong><span>Results:</span></strong><span> 99 studies published from 2009&ndash;2022 were included, comprising 83 on AID systems, 6 on insulin pumps, and 10 on CGM; 43% reported industry funding;30% were pre-market; 45% had a comparator group. 33% were RCTs, 25% non-randomized trials, and 41% observational studies. Median sample size was 52 (interquartile range 25&ndash;111), age 37.8 years (17&ndash;45.5), and study duration 13 weeks (4.5&ndash;26). AID systems lowered HbA1c by 0.3 percentage points (absolute mean difference [MD]=-0.3; 9 RCTs; I<sup>2</sup>=85%) and increased time in target range for sensor glucose level by 10.5 percentage points (MD=10.5; 14 RCTs; I<sup>2</sup>=89%). 69% of studies reported on at least one safety outcome.</span></p> <p><strong><span>Conclusions:</span></strong><span> High-risk devices for glucose monitoring or insulin dosing, in particular AID systems, improve glucose control safely but evidence on diabetes-related end organ damage is lacking due to short study durations. Methodological heterogeneity highlights the need for d<span><span>eveloping standards for future pre- and post-market investigations of diabetes-specific high-risk medical devices.</span></span></span></p>
