Data Set from the DMP survey and interviews - intermediate results

<p>This is the data set for a series of interviews in chemistry on data management (plans) and presents interim results. A more detailed analysis and description can be found in the paper &quot;Road to a Chemistry-specific Data Management Plan&quot; submitted to Data Science Journal (2022-12-15).<br> The interview series will continue in 2023 and final results will be published later in 2023.</p> <p>The aim of the conducted interview series is the enrichment of the online survey data from the RDA WG Discipline-specific Guidance for DMP and in a second step the development of a chemistry-specific data management plan template. For this purpose, the current status of data management as well as information about the workflows in the various chemical disciplines were requested in a personal interview with 22 participants so far.</p> <p>All the gathered information and examples will be used to develop a DMP template or guide in line with chemistry-specific requirements. The results provide a comprehensive outlook on the future developments of RDM in chemistry. Possible strategies for implementation are also discussed.</p>

Data for Say it aloud: Measuring change talk and user perceptions in an automated, technology-delivered adaptation of motivational interviewing delivered by video-counsellor

<p>Two of three datasets from study where participants engaged in a spoken&nbsp;&#39;dialogue&#39; with a pre-recorded video counsellor asking open questions to promote behaviour change.&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>interview length and change talk results.csv</strong> reports duration of dialogue and number of instances of change talk and sustain talk detected by human coders in each participant&#39;s speech. Transcripts of participants&#39; speech are not uploaded because we did not request participants&#39; consent for sharing. When designing the study, we did not know if people would feel comfortable speaking aloud to the computer; we&nbsp;did not want to make them feel more self-conscious by knowing their speech&nbsp;would shared. The data are from 16 of 18 participants; two were excluded for not talking about a goal to increase physical activity, which was a requirement of the study.</p> <p>Version 1.0 contains ratings of the number of instances of change and sustain talk, which required the coder to judge when a complex statement should be scored as containing more than one instance. Version 2.0 was created in response to a reviewer&#39;s suggestion that coders should simply score the presence or absence of change and sustain talk. The new dataset presents the agreed scoring of two independent coders who scored whether change or sustain talk were present in each participant&#39;s response to each question posed by the video-counsellor.&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Questionnaire Units of Analysis.docx</strong> contains participants&#39;&nbsp;written responses to an evaluation questionnaire completed one week after the interview. These responses were the raw material for thematic analysis. This dataset contains responses from 18 participants, including participants 7 and 11 who did not talk about&nbsp;a goal of physical activity when interacting with the video-counsellor.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>

Human captital, defined as one type of resources in resource-based-view theory, is defined in existing research broadly as a set of capabilities, knowledge, skills, education, experience, and other similar human attributes, and seen as a source of economic growth at all levels from an individual to nations and the world.The qualitative analysis of the interview data was done to answer the following research questions: 1) What are the engineering-related capabilities necessary for creating a product in a software startup?, 2) What are the means to acquire the necessary capabilities?, and 3) What are the reasons for deploying different capability-acquiring means?</p> <p>The findings of the analysis were used for drawing conclusions, how the established theories, resource-based-view and human capital theories, fit to the actual situations in software startups.</p>

The purpose of this experiment was to test whether we could use statistics to discern the fabricated data from genuine data we collected from Many Labs 3. We also interviewed the researchers about how they fabricated data, in order to learn how researchers actually fabricate data. Data from: Community Credit interviews on trust in consumer financial services

<p>The Community Credit research project explores pathways for trusted collaboration between credit unions and the communities they serve. To understand the experiences of people historically underserved by the consumer financial services industry, we focused in particular on the lived experience of low-income residents in Southern California. As part of a larger, mixed-methods study, in 2022 we conducted 30 semi-structured interviews exploring people's everyday financial practices and their attitudes toward consumer financial services providers. This data set contains the transcripts from the interviews after excluding any personally identifying data.</p> <p>All study materials and procedures were approved by the University of California, Irvine Office of Human Research Protections and the Institutional Review Board (protocol ID 20216839). This material is based upon work supported by the National Science Foundation under Grant No. 2137567. Opening education in the MENA region: In-depth interviews and Focus Group data with experts in open education in Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco and Palestine.

<p>The two data sets presented here are part of a study which aimed at identifying cultural barriers in the adoption of open education in higher education in the Middle East, specifically in Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco and Palestine. This study was conducted in the context of OpenMed &ndash; &ldquo;Opening up Education in South-Mediterranean countries&rdquo; (<a href="https://openmedproject.eu/">https://openmedproject.eu/</a>), an international cooperation project co-funded by the&nbsp;<a href="http://eacea.ec.europa.eu/erasmus-plus/actions/key-action-2-cooperation-for-innovation-and-exchange-good-practices/capacity-0_en">Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education programme</a>&nbsp;of the European Union during the period 15 October 2015 &ndash; 14 October 2018.</p> <p>The first document presents the transcripts of in-depth interviews (N=7) conducted in February 2018 through Skype with open education experts, from seven universities: namely: Alexandria University (Egypt), Cairo University (Egypt), German Jordanian University (Jordan), Princess Sumaya University of Technology (Jordan), Notre Dame University (Lebanon), Birzeit University (Palestine) and An-Najah University (Palestine). The second document is a transcript of a focus group which took place in Agadir (Morocco) in May 2018, with open education experts from eight universities: Alexandria University (Egypt), Cadi Ayyad University (Morocco), Cairo University (Egypt), German Jordanian University (Jordan), Ibn Zohr University (Morocco), Princess Sumaya University of Technology (Jordan), and An-Najah University (Palestine). <p>Here are two transcripts from a set of interviews executed by Sabina Leonelli in the fall of 2015 as part of the ERC project &quot;The Epistemology of Data-Intensive Science&quot;, and in the context of a case study of phenotyping practices at the National Plant Phenomics Centre in Aberystwyth and collaborators. The transcripts document researchers&#39; experience of data curation practices. Researchers have consented to have these transcripts made available as Open Data. Other interviewees did not give consent or ended up providing sensitive information in their interviews, so those transcripts cannot be made open and are held securely by the research team in Exeter. You also find the information sheet provided to interviewees, which gives you the context for this project. Further information can be found at <a href="http://www.datastudies.eu">www.datastudies.eu</a>. The transcripts have been redacted to exclude names of people who have not given consent to participate in the study, but have otherwise been left unedited and therefore contain several colloquial expressions. Data from: Robust inference on large-scale species habitat use with interview data: the status of jaguars outside protected areas in Central America

Evaluating range-wide habitat use by a target species requires information on species occurrence over broad geographic regions, a process made difficult by species rarity, large spatiotemporal sampling domains, and imperfect detection. We address these challenges in an assessment of habitat use for jaguars (Panthera onca) outside protected areas in Central America. Occurrence records were acquired within 12 putative corridors using interviews with knowledgeable corridor residents. We developed a Bayesian hierarchical occupancy model to gain robust inference, allowing for heterogeneity introduced in the sampling process over space and time, using records of jaguar occurrence prone to false positives and false negatives. Probability of false detection of jaguars increased with the number of interviews conducted per unit (from 5.42% to 7.74% given &lt;4 and ≥4 observers per unit). True probability of detection (mean=0.58) increased with the number of days interviewees spent in a survey unit per year. Failing to account for false positives biased predicted habitat use high (˜1.8x), especially where occurrence records were sparse. Probability of site use by jaguars increased with greater forest cover, prey richness, and distance from human settlements, and decreased with greater agricultural cover, elevation, and distance from protected areas. Site use probabilities averaged 0.15-0.97 by corridor, providing relatively fine-scale resolution of predicted jaguar occurrence consistent with known patterns of jaguar gene flow across Central America. Model validation, accounting for both false positives and negatives in the observation process, indicated moderate correspondence between model-predicted observations and actual observations for withheld data (0.65, 95% CRI 0.59–0.71), with sensitivity and specificity rates of 0.69 (0.61 – 0.77) and 0.59 (0.50 – 0.68), respectively. These results demonstrate that reliable predictions can be achieved despite the complexity of large-scale, interview-based analyses of species occurrence. Synthesis and applications. Our Bayesian hierarchical occupancy model accommodated heterogeneity caused by typical sampling inequities and idiosyncrasies associated with interview data, yielding robust estimates of jaguar habitat use. Our approach is applicable to any wide-ranging and readily identifiable species and has particular utility for rare species in human-dominated landscapes where traditional survey techniques (e.g., camera traps) may be impractical.
