Improving estimates of the ionosphere during geomagnetic storm conditions through assimilation of thermospheric mass density

Swarm A/B/C neutral mass density normalized to 400 km to be assimilated by the CTIPe physics based model coupled with the thermosphere ionosphere data assimilation scheme (TIDA). Swarm-A is assimilated and B/C are used for validation purposes. The selected period is March 2015 that contains the St. Patrick's Day storm 2015 between 16-18 of that month.

The height-dependent delayed ionospheric response to solar EUV - artificial run

These artificial runs use the TIE-GCM v2.0 model in its 2.5 × 2.5 configuration as the real condition model run. In order to converge to stable initial condition the TIE GCM runs for 30 days prior to the final simulation starting at 21 September 2010. This initial run was configured with default parameters. Both model runs start at 21 October 2010 and are calculated with default parameters except for the switched off auroral parameterization as well as the switched off high-latitude potential model. The influence of noise in solar activity is reduced by applying an artificial noise free sinusoidal time series for the F10.7 input.

Stormtime ring current heating of the ionosphere and plasmasphere Numerical information for the figures

Structure and dynamics of plasma irregularities over the equatorial ionospheric region: A study using spaced receiver technique employing geostationary satellites' radio signals-Data set

The study investigates the characteristic features of the ionospheric irregularities using spaced receiver technique. In the spaced receiver technique, we have used a trio of receivers separated by 40 and 100 m from each other. These receivers monitor scintillations patterns of the L1 signals transmitted by the geostationary satellites. The cross-correlation of the signals and the power spectral analysis yields the measure of characteristic features of the irregularities. The data folder contains the S4 index, drift velocity of the irregularities, powerspectral slopes and size of the irregularities observed on four days. The folder also contains the gnuscript used for plotting.
