Ex vivo 100 μm isotropic diffusion MRI‐based tractography of connectivity changes in the end‐stage R6/2 mouse model of Huntington's disease
<div> <div> <div> <div> <p><strong>Background</strong>: Huntington's disease is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder. Brain atrophy, as measured by volumetric magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), is a downstream consequence of neurodegeneration, but microstructural changes within brain tissue are expected to precede this volumetric decline. The tissue microstructure can be assayed non-invasively using diffusion MRI, which also allows a tractographic analysis of brain connectivity.</p> <p><strong>Methods</strong>: We here used ex vivo diffusion MRI (11.7T) to measure microstructural changes in different brain regions of end‐stage (14 weeks of age) wild type and R6/2 mice (male and female) modeling Huntington's disease. To probe the microstructure of different brain regions, reduce partial volume effects and measure connectivity between different regions, a 100 μm isotropic voxel resolution was acquired.</p> <p><strong>Results</strong>: Although fractional anisotropy did not reveal any difference between wild‐type controls and R6/2 mice, mean, axial, and radial diffusivity were increased in female R6/2 mice and decreased in male R6/2 mice. Whole brain streamlines were only reduced in male R6/2 mice, but streamline density was increased. Region‐to‐region tractography indicated reductions in connectivity between the cortex, hippocampus, and thalamus with the striatum, as well as within the basal ganglia (striatum—globus pallidus—subthalamic nucleus—substantia nigra—thalamus).</p> <p><strong>Conclusions</strong>: Biological sex and left/right hemisphere affected tractographic results, potentially reflecting different stages of disease progression. This proof‐of‐principle study indicates that diffusion MRI and tractography potentially provide novel biomarkers that connect volumetric changes across different brain regions. In a translation setting, these measurements constitute a novel tool to assess the therapeutic impact of interventions such as neuroprotective agents in transgenic models, as well as patients with Huntington's disease.</p> </div> </div> </div> </div>

SGS scalar transport - homogeneous isotropic turbulence
<p>This dataset contains filtered data (spectral cut) from three DNS simulations (train, tests, decay) of 3-dimensional homogeneous isotropic turbulence in a <span class="math-tex">\(512^3\)</span> periodic domain. More precisely, the following fields are available:</p> <ul> <li>Filtered velocities</li> <li>Filtered transported (passive) scalar</li> <li>Divergence of the SGS term from the transport equation obtained from DNS</li> <li>SGS fluxes (in the three directions) from the transport equation obtained from DNS</li> </ul> <p>The scalar is forced on the high spectral wavenumbers, such that filtered data is not impacted in train and tests, while the scalar forcing is removed in the decay simulation. Note that all three simulations are forced on the velocities with an Alvelius-type scheme.</p> <p>The dataset also provide with three different filter sizes: 8, 16 and 32 times from the initial DNS resolution, which give domain sizes of <span class="math-tex">\(64^3, 32^3, 16^3\)</span> respectively.</p> <p>This dataset has been used to train NN models available : https://github.com/hrkz/SubgridTransportNN.</p>
Isotropic and azimuthally anisotropic lithospheric Vs models beneath the central-southern Tanlu fault
<p>We obtained high-resolution isotropic and azimuthally anisotropic Vs models beneath the central and southern Tanlu fault from ambient noise and earthquake surface waves.</p> <p>The Tanlu3D_iso.mod is a 3D isotropic Vs model with a grid spacing of 0.25deg*0.25deg. The data format is "longitude, latitude, depth, Vs, Vp, density."</p> <p>The Tanlu3D_anis.mod is the 3D azimuthally anisotropic Vs model with a grid spacing of 0.5deg*0.5deg. Data from: T1-weighted in vivo human whole brain MRI dataset with an ultrahigh isotropic resolution of 250 μm
We present an ultrahigh resolution in vivo human brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) dataset. It consists of T1-weighted whole brain anatomical data acquired at 7 Tesla with a nominal isotropic resolution of 250 μm of a single young healthy Caucasian subject and was recorded using prospective motion correction. The raw data amounts to approximately 1.2 TB and was acquired in eight hours total scan time. The resolution of this dataset is far beyond any previously published in vivo structural whole brain dataset. Its potential use is to build an in vivo MR brain atlas. Methods for image reconstruction and image restoration can be improved as the raw data is made available. Pre-processing and segmentation procedures can possibly be enhanced for high magnetic field strength and ultrahigh resolution data. Furthermore, potential resolution induced changes in quantitative data analysis can be assessed, e.g., cortical thickness or volumetric measures, as high quality images with an isotropic resolution of 1 and 0.5 mm of the same subject are included in the repository as well.
