Mayoral Regalia
Purchased in 1967 from London tailors, Ede and Ravenscroft Ltd, these Parramatta Mayoral robes were the second set purchased in Council's history [insert hyperlink to Parramatta Mayors on website]. Red with a black facing and trimmed fur they were worn with a lace jabot and the Chain of Office. The chains were commissioned from Angus and Coote in Sydney. The wearing of robes is an English tradition dating back to the 1300s and it is reasonably common for Australian Mayors and Lord Mayors to wear them at formal functions over their normal clothes. However, it is an individual choice and not consistently adopted across Local Government in Australia. The regalia generally consists of a set of robes, chains of office and a hat. There is no standard colour for mayoral robes but common colours are black, purple, blue, red and gold. The hat can be bicorne or tricorne with some form of gold embellishment and feathers. ALTAR MAYOR DE POZALMURO
ALTAR MAYOR DE LA PARRQUIA DE SANTA MARÍA LA MAYOR, EN POZALMURO (SORIA). Este retablo fue promovido en 1585 por el Mayordomo de la Iglesia. Es obra, en cuanto a su arquitectura y escultura de Pedro del Cerro. De Francisco Metelín, en lo relativo a pintura, estofado y dorados. Mide 8,50m. por 5,54 m. Costó 787 ducados la obra de Del Cerro y se pagaron 360 reales al pintor. Hay que encuadrarlo en el movimiento romanista de Soria. La obra consta de banco, dos cuerpos y ático. Distribuidos en tres calles y dos entrecalles, másd dos estrechas polsera o pequeños guardapolvos a los lados de dos grandes columnas. Encima de un arco rebajado, en la calle central, se representq la talla de la Virgen sedente con el Niño. y encima de éste la Asunción de la Virgen. En la parte superior nos encontramos el Calvario. Point Coud - Plaza Mayor of San Carlos del Valle
This point cloud was collected using three FARO Focus3D laser scanners in 2017. The main square (plaza mayor) of San Carlos del Valle stands in the historical and cultural center of the town, presenting an excellent state of preservation. It was built in the 18th century as a large public space intended to house the market, celebrations, important or solemn events and leisure spaces. The square is almost rectangular in shape and is delimited by large arcaded galleries formed by beautiful stone columns. The upper galleries of the square are open as they served to contemplate the public shows organized in the square. On one of its sides stands the church of the Santísimo Cristo del Valle, built in the 18th century on an old hermitage. Wall of Skulls at Templo Mayor
A tzompantli or skull rack is a type of wooden rack or palisade documented in several Mesoamerican civilizations, which was used for the public display of human skulls, typically those of war captives or other sacrificial victims. It is a scaffold-like construction of poles on which heads and skulls were placed after holes had been made in them. Many have been documented throughout Mesoamerica, and range from the Epiclassic (ca. 600–900 CE) through early Post-Classic (ca. 900–1250 CE). In 2017 archeologists announced the discovery of the Huey Tzompantli, with more than 650 skulls, in the archeological zone of the Templo Mayor in Mexico city.
