Data from: The use of MSR (Minimum Sample Richness) for sample assemblage comparisons
Minimum Sample Richness (MSR) is defined as the smallest number of taxa that must be recorded in a sample to achieve a given level of inter-assemblage classification accuracy. MSR is calculated from known or estimated richness and taxonomic similarity. Here we test MSR for strengths and weaknesses by using 167 published mammalian local faunas from the Paleogene and early Neogene of the Query and Liane area (Massif Central, southwestern France), and then apply MSR to 84 Oligo-Miocene faunas from Riversleigh, northwestern Queensland, Australia. In many cases, MSR is able to detect the assemblages in the data set that are potentially too incomplete to be used in a similarity-based comparative taxonomic analysis. The results show that the use of MSR significantly improves the quality of the clustering of fossil assemblages. We conclude that this method can screen sample assemblages that are not representative of their underlying original living communities. Ultimately, it can be used to identify which assemblages require further sampling before being included in a comparative analysis.
Codes and the test dataset for MSR
<p>This file contains the essential codes, model parameter files, and test dataset for the echo reconstructions of Zhu et al. 2023. </p> <p>When unzipping the "Data4MSR4Test_split.zip.00x", simply put these zip packages in the same folder and unzip the "Data4MSR4Test_split.zip.001".</p> <p>The dataset contains processed radar echo data, satellite images, and simulations over the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region ([36°N, 113°E]×[43°N, 120°E]) with a horizontal resolution of 0.01°, corresponding to three folders. First, the "Radar" folder contains the radar echo data. Each file contains radar echo data (CAPPI) of five heights (from the 1st layer on is CAPPI at 1500, 2000, 2500, 3000, and 3500 m). The "satellite" folder contains the Himawari-8 satellite images ("TBBdata" folder) of five bands (from the 1st layer on is the 5th, 8th, 13th, 15th, and 16th bands) and corresponding convective cloud classification data ("clouddata" folder). The "WRF2RADAR" folder contains 24-layer WRF-simulated variables, and from the 1st layer on is vertical wind shear, U (850 hPa), U (700 hPa), U (500 hPa), V (850 hPa), V (700 hPa), V (500 hPa), W (850 hPa), W (700 hPa), W (500 hPa), storm relative helicity, updraft helicity, K index, maximum convective available potential energy, maximum convective inhibition, equivalent potential temperature difference, temperature lapse rate, precipitable water, water vapor mixing ratio (850 hPa), water vapor mixing ratio (700 hPa), water vapor mixing ratio (500 hPa), relative humidity (850 hPa), relative humidity (700 hPa), relative humidity (500 hPa). Please note, only the first 700 rows and the first 700 lines of WRF-simulated data are used. </p> <p>We acknowledge the National Key Basic Research Program of China (grant 2014CB441401) for providing radar data. We acknowledge the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) for supplying Himawari-8 satellite images. </p> <p>Before use, please modify the path to the test dataset in "data_loader.py" in "Codes4GRL". Original codes are aimed at research needs and there is a lot of room for improvement.</p>

48505 MSR Hercules Bull
This is a 3D model of an ancient marble relief in the Musée Saint-Raymond, Toulouse. This relief from the 3rd c. CE depicts Hercules's seventh labor, the Stymphalian Birds. The labor was for Hercules to wrestle the bull and bring it back to King Eurystheus. Most of the sculpture is missing, but if you look closely, Hercules is grasping the bull's horn. This piece was part of a larger series of twelve works, with only nine surviving to this day. **Bibliography**: [Musée Saint-Raymond](https://bit.ly/2YG6iLa), [Perseus: Bull](https://bit.ly/3b7DZYN) # Ancient World 3D This model posting is part of Ancient World 3D, a website that provides curated 3D open access content for Classical Studies.
