This project calculates two vegetation indices—Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) and Soil Adjusted Vegetation Index (SAVI) from the National Agriculture Imagery Program (NAIP) remotely sensed imagery. The intent is to make remotely sensed variables and visualizations accessible to stakeholders and researchers studying the Phoenix metropolitan area. NDVI and SAVI are calculated from the 2019 NAIP imagery (1m resolution). This dataset extends the 2010, 2013, 2015, and 2017 NDVI and SAVI products derived from NAIP imagery (also 1m resolution). All images are cropped to the CAP study area boundary.

Seasonal Electrofishing Data from Rookery Branch and Tarpon Bay, Everglades National Park (FCE LTER), Florida, USA, November 2004 - ongoing
This study examines temporal and spatial dynamics in the fish community of the oligohaline to mesohaline reaches of ecotonal creeks along the southwest region of Everglades National Park. Collections of fish in SW ENP during 2004 - 2014 across Rookery Branch and Tarpon Bay. Sampling started in the wet season of 2004, and has been conducted three times per year at these approximate times: November (wet season); February (transition); and April (dry season). Electrofishing samples were processed in the field, and all species (except for non-natives) were returned live at the point of collection. In the Rookery Branch region, fish abundance varies markedly yearly and seasonally. Catches peak in the drier months, reflecting a pulse of movement by freshwater taxa into creeks as marshes upstream dry. The timing of this pulse is closely tied to the pattern of water recession in upstream marshes, and has important ramifications for wading bird prey availability.
Movements of aquatic predators within the Shark River estuary (FCE LTER), Everglades National Park, South Florida, USA, June 2007 - ongoing
In South Florida, the allocation of freshwater resources is a constant source of debate. Stakeholders competing for freshwater include agriculture, rapidly growing urban populations, and the natural environment with its associated ecosystem services. Among these services, one of the most valuable is the provisioning of coastal recreational fisheries, which generates roughly $8 billion annually in angler expenditures in Florida alone. Yet, the interplay between freshwater allocation and the sustainability of these coastal fisheries remains poorly understood. One pathway of influence is through the availability of resources and food. Seasonal rainfall and freshwater management drive pulses of freshwater marsh prey into estuaries, creating short-lived but abundant foraging opportunities. Previous research has shown that these prey pulses occur primarily in the inland reaches of the estuary, providing resources for recreationally and ecologically important consumers such as the Common Snook (Centropomus undecimalis), Florida Largemouth Bass (Micropterus salmoides), Red Drum (Sciaenops ocellatus), Atlantic Tarpon (Megalops atlanticus), Bull Shark (Carcharhinus leucas), and American Alligator (Alligator mississippiensis). However, it is unclear how far these species move to exploit this subsidy, or whether such pulses increase reproductive output and long-term population stability. Further, sea level rise is changing how economically and ecologically important taxa use estuarine environments. To address these questions, we use acoustic telemetry to track the multi-year (2007–present) movements of key estuarine taxa, including Common Snook, Florida Largemouth Bass, American Alligator, and Bull Shark, within the Shark River Estuary of Everglades National Park. This multi-species approach expands our focus from freshwater and estuarine predators to include apex predators that link freshwater, estuarine, and marine ecosystems. Dissolved organic matter plays an important role in biogeochemical processes in aquatic environments such as elemental cycling, microbial loop energetics, and the transport of materials across landscapes. Since most of N (> 90%) and P (around 90%) is in the organic form in the oligotrophic subtropical Florida Coastal Everglades (FCE), study of the source and dynamics of dissolved organic matter (DOM) in the ecosystem is crucial for the better understanding of the biogeochemical cycling of nutrients. FCE are composed of estuaries with distinct regions with different biogeochemical processes. Freshwater marsh primarily receives terrestrial input and local autochthonous vegetation production. Mangrove ecotone, nevertheless, is affected by the tidal contributions from Florida Bay and local mangrove production. Florida Bay (FB) is a wedge-shaped shallow oligotrophic estuary which lays south of the Everglades, the bottom of which is covered with a dense biomass of seagrass. The sources of both freshwater and nutrients in FCE are difficult to quantify, owing to the non-point source nature of runoff from the Everglades and the dendritic cross channels in the mangroves. Furthermore, the combination of multiple DOM sources (freshwater marsh vegetation, mangroves, phytoplankton, seagrass, etc.), and the potential seasonal variability of their relative contribution, along with the history of (photo)chemical and microbial diagenetic processing, and complex advective circulation, makes the study of DOM dynamics in FCE particularly difficult using standard schemes of estuarine ecology. Quantitative information of DOM is very useful to investigate the biogeochemical cycling of DOM to a certain degree, however, qualitative information is necessary to better understand the source and dynamics of DOM. Since fluorescence spectroscopic techniques are very sensitive, quick and simple, they have been applied to investigate the fate of DOM in estuaries. Here, we have quantified a series of

Phenology is the study of relations between climate and periodic biological phenomena, such as bud break or leaf drop in deciduous trees. Phenology is a leading indicator of climate change, and the response of urban tree species to climate can help inform how to manage for a more resilient, and adaptive urban tree canopy. This dataset contains tree phenology data from the The Mississippi National River and Recreation Area (MNRRA) Urban Affiliate Adaptive Silviculture for Climate Change (ASCC) project located at Crosby Farm Regional Park. This dataset includes Individual Phenometrics, Site Phenomentrics, Status and Intensity, and Magnitude Phenometrics. This data was collected through mobile app submissions to Nature's Notebook and downloaded from the National Phenology Network Observation Portal, filtered by date range 01/01/2021 to 02/26/2024 and for Crosby Farm ASCC. Tree Mast Production in Pinyon-Juniper-Oak Forests at the Sevilleta National Wildlife Refuge, New Mexico
The purpose of this study is to monitor the fruit production of three common woody tree species that occur on the Sevilleta National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) in New Mexico. We estimate fruit production of two monoecious species, Pinus edulis (pinon pine) and Quercus turbinella (Sonoran scrub oak) and one dioecious species, Juniperus monosperma (one-seed juniper). During August – November, we estimate fruit production for these three species at up to six sites within the Sevilleta NWR. Different protocols are used for each species (see Methods). In addition, the age and/or size of each individual tree was assessed at the beginning of the study, excepting in one site (WM) where fruit counts occurred at the plot, rather than individual tree, scale. For P. edulis and J. monosperma, trees wre binned into categories of young, medium, old, or very old trees. For Q. turbinella, we estimate canopy surface area in m 2
Bee species abundance and composition in three ecosystem types at the Sevilleta National Wildlife Refuge, New Mexico, USA
This study was designed to examine community- or population-level fluctuations in bee species at the Sevilleta National Wildlife Refuge, both intra- and inter-annually. From 2002 to 2019, passive funnel traps were used to collect bees at three sites, each representing a different ecosystem type of the southwestern U.S. (Plains grassland, Chihuahuan Desert grassland, and Chihuahuan Desert shrubland). Bees were collected during each month from March through October, and were identified to species by taxonomic experts.
Small Mammal Demographic Data at the Sevilleta National Wildlife Refuge, New Mexico
This file contains mark/recapture trapping data collected from 2013-present on permanently established small mammal trapping webs in the creosote-shrubland ecotone on the Sevilleta National Wildlife Refuge in central New Mexico. The two trapping webs are sampled for 3 consecutive nights once per month following the new moon. Each trapping web consists of 145 rebar stakes, 12 spokes originating from a central rebar point, each containing 12 rebars each. The first 4 stakes of the spoke are 5m apart, with the rest being 10m apart for a total of 100m per spoke (200m diameter). Demographic data is collected from each captured animal including age, sex, species, trap location, and reproductive status. Each animal is marked with a unique ear or radio frequency identification (RFID) tag and tissue samples (hair, whiskers, blood and fecal) are collected from each individual once per month. Demographic Findings: From 2013–2023, the program captured an average of 432 unique individuals per year across >10 species from two rodent families, Heteromyidae and Cricetidae. Heteromyids are the most abundant (~77% of captures), with Perognathus flavus (51%), Dipodomys merriami (11%), D. ordii (11%), and D. spectabilis (4%) dominating the community. Recapture rates for these species are >75%, generating longitudinal data on survival.

Auxiliary Euro-Calliope datasets: Spatio-temporal data representing national cooking demand and electric vehicle characteristic profiles in Europe
<p>Output generated by the <a href="https://github.com/RAMP-project/">RAMP engine</a> for use in the <a href="https://github.com/calliope-project/sector-coupled-euro-calliope">Sector-Coupled Euro-Calliope model</a>. The three datasets in this repository are described briefly here and in more detail in the accompanying README files. Each dataset has an hourly temporal resolution spanning the years 2000 - 2018 (inclusive) and a national spatial resolution spanning 26* - 28** countries in Europe. All datasets are dimensionless; only the profile shapes are used in Euro-Calliope.</p> <ul> <li>Cooking energy demand profiles (<em>ramp-cooking-profiles</em>): Profiles of heat energy demand for cooking in buildings in Europe, stochastically generated using the <a href="https://github.com/RAMP-project/RAMP">RAMP model</a> [1]. These profiles are used to distribute annual cooking energy demand in the Euro-Calliope workflow. This dataset covers 28 European countries**.</li> <li>Electric vehicle plug-in profiles (<em>ramp-ev-plugin-profiles</em>): Profiles of the percentage of parked electric vehicles, stochastically generated using the <a href="https://github.com/RAMP-project/RAMP-mobility">RAMP-Mobility model</a> [2]. These profiles are used in Euro-Calliope to define the maximum number of electric vehicles that could be plugged in and therefore available to be charged at any given time, assuming controlled (or "smart") charging. It is a project consisting of a series of cross-sectional telephone surveys collected in key moments of the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to the four main domains and a set of COVID19-related questions, the survey includes new key indicators every month to capture the impact of the pandemic on issues like education, social programs, and crime. This is the sixth dataset of the project, corresponding to December 2020, collected nine months after the lockdown began in Mexico. Data collection was performed from November 27 to December 11, 2020.</p>
