Online Real-Time Delphi Survey for the research project "MENARA" - Compilation of all Comments to Closed and Open Questions
<p><strong>Looking into the Futures: Delphi Survey about the MENA region</strong></p> <p>In order to get a more realistic overview of the situation and trends, of the potentials, problems and potentials of the countries of the MENA region a Real Time Delphi survey was conducted. This is an important tool of modern future research. It was managed by the IZT- Institute for Future Studies in Berlin. A group of 139 experts and researchers from different institutes and organizations were invited to participate at the Online Real-Time Delphi Survey (RTD) about possible and likely futures of the MENA region. The experts were asked to answer questions and provide their opinions on twelve topics such as social unrest, youth unemployment, urbanization, gender equality, security etc. In this dataset all comments to the closed and the open questions are compiled.</p> <p>The output was one of the basic material used for the creation of future regional scenarios for mid-term (2025) and long-term (2050) time horizons. Focus scenarios were produced in order to exemplify selected characteristic and important future options, in terms of chances and risks (e.g. energy futures).</p>

CS3MESH4EOSC Final Event Science Mesh - Unlocking Open Science and Collaborative Research Landscape
<p>The recap video of CS3MESH4EOSC final event. The CS3MESH4EOSC final event, took place on 22 June 2023, at the EGI Conference in Poznan (Poland), showcased how the Science Mesh is contributing to an easier and more robust open science across Europe, thanks to novel approaches for data sharing and synchronisation.</p> <p><strong>The first half of the event</strong> will count with live demonstrations, where each data service from the Science Mesh will be presented from a user-perspective point of view. Event attendees will get practical information on how they can join the Science Mesh as a researcher, a software developer or a service provider. The event will also bring together representatives of Science Mesh use cases, who will explain how Science Mesh is making a difference in their lives, thanks to easier data sharing and synchronisation. A panel discussion with representatives of different sectors, from research to industry and education, will discuss the most urgent trends & priorities for cross-border science collaboration between different sciences.</p> <p><strong>The second half of the event</strong> will be focused on the technical novelties within the Science technical foundation. A series of demonstrations will be presented, followed by a panel discussion, with representatives of CS3MESH4EOSC members that are part of the EOSC Task Forces, on how the Science Mesh contributes to EOSC’s success and the overall EOSC Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA).</p>
Research generated data supporting the article manuscript "Setting Grounds for Data Literacy in the Sector of Agriculture: Learning About and with Open Data"
<p>In the research 345 MS courses and 216 MS courses data from the ECTS catalogue (2019) of University of Zagreb Faculty of Agriculture were mapped onto the data literacy competence areas (theme) and DL competence areas sub-themes adapted ODI Data Skills Framework (2020) expanding the term “skill” to “competence” to include knowledge and attitudes. <p>Gender equality and Open Access (OA) are priorities within the European Research Area (ERA) and cross-cutting issues in European research program H2020. Gender and openness are also key elements of Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI). However, despite the common underlying targets of fostering an inclusive, transparent and sustainable research environment, both issues are analysed as independent, unrelated topics.<br> This paper represents a first exploration of the inter-linkages between gender and OA analysing the scientific production of researchers of the Italian National Research Council under a gender perspective integrated with the different OA publications modes. A bibliometric analysis was carried out for articles published in the period 2016-2018 and retrieved from the Web of Science. Results are presented constantly analysing CNR scientific production in relation to gender, disciplinary fields and OA publication modes. These variables are also used when analysing articles that receive financial support.<br> Our results indicate that gender disparities in scientific production still persist in particularly in STEM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), while in medical and agricultural sciences the gender gap is the closest to parity. A positive dynamic toward OA publishing and women scientific production is shown when open disciplines with well-established practices are related to articles supported by funds. A slightly higher women propensity toward OA is shown when considering Gold OA,OA or authorships with women in the first and last article by-line position. Moreover, the prevalence of Italian funded articles with women’s contributions published in Gold OA journals seems to confirm this tendency, especially if considering the week enforcement of the Italian OA policies.</p>

<p><strong>Episode Summary: </strong></p> <p>In this episode we talk to Joy Owango, Founding Director at Training Centre in Communication. We discussed how Open Science is democratising research and access to data and publishing in Africa, the importance of ownership in research, and the challenges inherent in widespread change. </p> <p>Originally we interviewed another two guests who are involved in the Open Science movement on the African continent: Osman Aldirdiri, founding director of Open Sudan initiative and Jo Havemann, co-founder of the AfricArXiv. <p>ROARMAP (http://roarmap.eprints.org) has been queried for policies of research institutions which require Open Access depositing of a version of all publications authored by their researchers. This data was needed to explain some of the outcomes of a study about the proportions of Open Access publishing in the European Research Area (ERA) as well as in Brazil, Canada, Japan and the USA (Archambault et al. 2014).</p>

Open dataset of 20 interviews with senior service designers and managers for the Empathy Business research project
<p>The aim of the Empathy Business research project (2023-2024) led by the University of Lapland focused on how to digitalize services and business prototyping through creativity. The research named challenges as well as design methods for developing digital tools for meeting the future needs of service design and business development.<br><br>In total, 20 interviews among senior service designers and managers located in Europe, Latin America and Asia were conducted during spring 2023. The interviews provide perspectives related to the future of service design as a practise, the skills required and further issues of relevance for professionals in the field. Based on affinity diagramming eight main clusters were named: Sustainability, Business compatibility, New tools, Designer’s skills, Art-based methods, People in the centre, Online workshops, and Physical workshops.<br><br>This data set includes an anonymized list of the interviewees, affinity diagram post-it notes of the interviews, short descriptions of the main clusters and an internet link to the online affinity diagram on Miro board.<br><br>The materials provided initial insights for developing Proof-of-Concepts for digitized interfaces, such as suitable plugins, 3D-based photorealistic solutions, or an application with the potential to be used in service design and service prototyping contexts as well as in other development processes within and across organizations.</p>
